On the bus, Joseph held Harper's nonstop-ringing phone until it became quiet, his indifferent gaze shifting to her.
She was truly a bit tipsy, her face flushed, but her drunkenness only made her seem more innocent and naive.
Harper didn't care who was beside her. She felt disoriented as if she were drifting in the wind or floating in water.
Joseph's anger had not subsided, and he had no intention of dealing with her.
However, Harper was too restless, constantly moving. She seemed to feel hot and opened all the windows. A satisfied smile appeared on her face as the wind rushed in.
Not content, she leaned out, singing in the strong wind.
Even the driver couldn't help but chuckle.
Joseph pinched the bridge of his nose, not wanting to bother with her at first.
But Harper leaned out more and more, which was too dangerous.
"Get down and close the window," Joseph said.
Joseph pulled her down patiently and leaned over to raise the window halfway. “If you get carsick, just open the window a little.”
"No!"
Harper pouted, lowering the window again.
Joseph's eyelid twitched. He had just been furious, but this woman seemed to have no sense at all, and she was even bolder than usual.
"If you stick your head out again, be careful it get knocked off."
"No way!"
Harper turned her head, giving him a mockery look, and reached out again.
"Harper!" Joseph took a deep breath, ignoring his anger, and reached out to support her. "Be careful."
Harper covered her ears, her previously spoiled nature fully exposed, with a smug expression on her face. "I don’t want to!"
Joseph fell silent, only pulling her when he saw she was about to fall.
Finally, they arrived. Harper staggered and couldn't walk properly. Joseph simply picked her up and quickly entered the elevator.
Harper smelled his familiar scent and inexplicably felt at ease as if she were dreaming.
She reached up and touched the man's chin, faintly feeling the stubble.
Joseph turned his face away, and Harper smiled, reaching for his well-defined Adam's apple.
As she lightly traced her fingertips over its contours, she murmured, "Don't want me to touch your chin, huh? But your Adam's apple is so attractive, and it can move!"
"Stop it."
Joseph held her with both hands, unable to stop her hand from sliding down to his collarbone.
The delicate touch of her skin was somewhat ticklish and made him feel a bit restless.
Intoxicated Harper was completely unaware of her provocative actions. She just found it amusing.
Joseph had great skin smooth to the touch and an enviablecollarbone!
Finally, they were back home. Joseph put her down and went to get her a glass of water.
He had no idea what she might do in her drunken state.
"No!"
Harper suddenly reached out and hugged his waist, her eyes watery. "Where do you want to go?"
Joseph sighed silently, his voice hoarse, "I'm getting you some water. You sit on the sofa first."
"No!" Harper freed one hand and tugged at her clothes. "I'm hot. Can you help me take off my clothes?"
What?
Of course, he couldn't
Joseph reached out and held Harper's hand. Her clothes were already loose from her tugging. "Are you really that hot?"
"Yes!" She answered.
"Then I'll go prepare a bath for you."
Joseph, feeling helpless, was about to take her to the bathroom. "You take a shower first."
Harper didn't move, blinked mischievously, and said, "You want me to take a shower, don't you?"
"Yes," Joseph said.
"So, do you want to shower with me?"
Joseph was annoyed now. He couldn't believe Harper would be like this when she was drunk.
So bold and difficult. He hadn't seen this side of Harper in a long time.
When Joseph first met Harper, she was still young in her teens, and she had been a bit like she was now. Sometimes spoiled, occasionally unreasonable, lively, and happy.
Back then, she was doted on by her father, and carefree.
It seemed that everything had changed since Benjamin's death and their marriage.
Harper slowly closed off her heart, and Joseph had never entered her world, nor had she ever come out.
"Look at me!" Harper glared at him, dissatisfied.
How could he be so absent-minded while talking?
Joseph snapped back to reality, his gaze falling on her rosy face. "What did you say just now?"
"Just now?" Harper pouted. "I asked if you wanted to take a shower with me!"
Joseph's eyes darkened, and he asked in a low voice, "Do you want me to shower with you?"
Harper seemed to consider it seriously, nodded, and then shook her head. "I do, and I don't."
Joseph couldn't help but chuckle.
He lowered his head and saw the girl reaching out to pull his collar. Her full lips glistening with an enticing sheen, and she was looking up at him seriously.
An irresistible impulse surged within Joseph, and he didn't want to hold back anymore. He leaned down and kissed her.
"Wait!" Harper suddenly covered his mouth, her eyes wide with confusion as she looked at him. "Dr. Lucas, are you sure?"
Joseph was puzzled.
"You need to be sure! I'm not saying it's not possible, but you, you..." Harper furrowed her brow, seriously thinking for a moment, and then continued, "If you're with me, you can't fall for anyone else, and you can't be with anyone else."
Joseph stared at her, not answering for a while.
Harper didn't wait for a response, nor did she care. She smiled again. "Can you promise me one more thing?"
Joseph asked, "What is it?"
"Go put on your uniform for me!"
Harper's eyes sparkled, her voice full of uncontrollable excitement. "Please? Dr. Lucas looks the best in uniform!"
Joseph's face darkened, and he said in a cold voice, "Go take a shower."
Harper seemed to be at odds with him, her brows furrowed, and she crossed her arms. "I won't shower if you don't put it on!"
Joseph felt a slight headache. Harper seemed like a stubborn child at the moment, unreasonable and domineering.
He sighed deeply and looked at the stubborn girl. "Do I have to?"
