Chapter 29: It’s time

Traeger:

Jelena and I have been together for over five months, and I have never been happier. That’s why I decided that tonight I’m going to invite Jelena to move in with me. To some, it might be too fast, but to me, it feels right. I mean, we’re soulmates, and I know that I will never love another the way I love her. Not only did she teach me what love is, but she taught me how to live. Because of her, my packmates and I are free.

Right now, my packmates are settled in their own places. They make an effort to pay their respects to me at least twice a week.

Another thing that surprised me was seeing Dorian. He came over to the house a couple of days ago. Apparently, he was also offered a position to be a professor at Cal State. He is going to teach literature. I’m not surprised that he was hired to teach literature. When we lived in the Institute, the doctors would keep him calm by giving him books. Sometimes, he’d read through hundreds of books in a day. He is also highly intelligent. Either way, I’m happy for him.

Jelena and I also still hang out with Mathias and his friends. It’s great.

Jelena’s parents call us once in a while. Her dad calls me for tech advice, and I’ve been helping her mother create a virtual yoga studio. I’ve grown very close to her family, and it’s amazing.

As I set the dinner table, I look around to make sure that everything is set. I told Jelena to meet me at the apartment tonight to ask her to move in with me.

“Traeger, I’m here!” Jelena calls out to me.

I look at the dimly lit room and romantic candles before I turn back and face the love of my life.

“I’m here!” I call out from the dining room.

Jelena appears a second later, her smile lighting up the room. She looks stunning in her black crochet off the shoulder dress.

“Hey,” she moves forward and wraps her arms around my waist. Her lips search mine instantly. “Mmm, baby,” she mumbles between kisses.

Her eyes take in the room before they meet mine. “What’s this?” she waves her hand over the dining table.

“This is for you, my beautiful mate.” Without another word, I lead her to the table and pull out a chair.

Jelena takes a seat and accepts the wine glass that I hand her.

“Do you like it?” I ask shyly.

Jelena nods. “Of course, baby. I love it just like I love you.”

As we eat our dinner and talk about our day, I think about how beautiful she looks with her long brown hair falls around her golden shoulders and how her eyes sparkle beneath the dim light.

“Move in with me!” I spit out, interrupting her train of thought.

Her wine glass stops halfway to her lips. “W-what?” She huskily asks.

Swallowing hard, I slide out of my seat and squat in front of her. “You know that you’re my soulmate, Jelena. You’re the woman that I love, and I want to hold and make love to you every night. Would you move in with me?”

Jelena slides her arms around my neck and kisses me hard. “Yes, I will. I’ll move in with you, Traeger.”

We both smile against each other’s lips and kiss again. Without another word, I lift her into my arms and carry her to our bed.

We kiss and touch for hours until we both fall asleep in each other’s arms.

That weekend, Arsenal, Grey, and I helped Jelena move in, and we plan on celebrating our first Christmas soon.

Life with Jelena is amazing. Who knew that an orphan wolf boy with very little love in his life would find a soulmate and a family? I know that I didn’t, but I’m definitely grateful for it every day.
