Wedding Anniversary 70
Cassandra let out a cold laugh as if she had just heard the biggest joke in the world. “You want to help her by taking my kidney? To save your precious first love, you forced your three–month–pregnant wife to kneel and bow to bless her child. In order to save your first love, you wanted to take your wife’s kidney. Samuel, you helped her, but who helped me? If it weren’t for Trevor, I would have been dead by now.”
Cassandra stepped forward, standing directly in front of Samuel. She looked him straight in the eyes and spoke clearly. “The baby is dead. It died during that surgery when they took my kidney. You are the murderer. Since you love Francesca so much, I’ll let you go. A bitch and a jerk–what a perfect match.”
Samuel staggered as if he had been struck by lightning. His legs gave out and he collapsed onto his knees. Cassandra looked down at him from above, then leaned in slightly. “Samuel, neither you nor Francesca will get away with this. Wash your neck and wait for me.”
Then she turned away, taking a deep breath before glancing at Trevor. “Let’s go. No need to let irrelevant people ruin our mood.”
Just as Cassandra stepped forward, Samuel grabbed her ankle, his face ashen. “Cassie, I’m devastated about the baby too. We’re still young, we can have another one. As long as you still love me, I don’t care how sick you are. I’ll take care of you. I promise I’ll be a good husband from now on.”
Cassandra stopped and looked back at him. Samuel’s current disheveled appearance was something she had never seen before, but she didn’t feel sorry for him. “Samuel, I don’t love you anymore. I don’t believe a single word you say. Take care of me? Really? Half a month ago, when I wasn’t feeling well and reached out to you, do you remember what you said? You called me dramatic. I won’t fall into, the same trap twice.”
Samuel couldn’t accept her words. He suddenly stood up, his face twisted in desperation. “You do love me! You’ve loved me since we were kids. You chased after me for years. You proposed to me three times! Have you forgotten? Cassandra, you were the one who loved me first. You can’t just walk away!”
Trevor grew impatient and said in a low voice, “He’s just a madman now, I’ll have someone chase him away.”
“No need.” Cassandra declined.
Samuel smiled. “Cassie, I knew you couldn’t bear to.”
Alas, Cassandra’s words made him freeze on the spot. “I’m sorry, Samuel, I loved the wrong person. I loved you because I mistakenly thought it was you who saved me in the orphanage as a child, but I just found out that the person who saved me wasn’t you.”
“In other words, you’ve taken the love I had for Trevor for twelve years. Now, it’s time to set things right.” Cassandra lifted her foot, broke free from Samuel’s grasp, and left with Trevor.

Samuel didn’t chase after her. He slumped to the ground in despair. He had always thought Cassandra loved him unconditionally. That’s why he had oppressed her, believing she would never leave. Now, Cassandra told him that she had loved the wrong person all along.
He regretted it. He shouldn’t have taken Cassandra’s love for granted and hurt her carelessly. Now, it seemed like he couldn’t win her back.
Trevor personally drove Cassandra to a nearby restaurant for dinner. During the meal, Cassandra suddenly spoke up. “I’ll be going back to Zeanor in a week.”
Trevor was startled. “That soon?”
“I still need to finalize my divorce with Samuel. And while I’m at it, I have some unfinished business with Francesca.”
“Alright. I’ll take care of the arrangements, Trevor said.
Then, he looked at her seriously. “Cassandra, let’s get married after you get your divorce certificate.”
