Wanted 23

Chapter 7

Owen Pierce looked at me in panic.

But I appeared calmer than both of them.

Ivy wasn’t satisfied with my reaction.

“My father was the one you sent to prison back then.”

“Nora Blake, even though I’m a rapist’s daughter, Owen still thinks I’m cleaner than you.”

Ten years ago, the boss who assaulted me was surnamed Wells.

Ten years later, that boss’s daughter was sleeping with my husband.

I didn’t break down like Ivy had expected.

I swung my arm back and slapped her hard across the face.

Grabbing her hair, I forced her face up.

“You and your dad are cut from the same disgusting cloth.”

Ivy started cursing, “Bitch! What are you acting so high and mighty for? You have nothing left, you know that? I stole the man you love-I bet you’re so mad you’re coughing up blood! Stop pretending you don’t care. We’re both women-I know exactly what you’re feeling!”

I grabbed a bottle of red wine and poured it down her throat.

“Since your mouth is so filthy, let me wash it out for you.”

She swallowed most of the wine, and the rest splattered all over her expensive wedding dress.

When Owen pushed me away, I hit him too.

He slapped me back.

His expression showed exhaustion.

“What Ivy’s father did has nothing to do with her. She only has me now. We owe her this.”

I looked at my freshly done nails, wishing I’d gotten the extra-long version.

I said coldly, “You mean after her dad got out of prison, couldn’t get it up anymore, beat her mother to death, then killed himself?”

“Owen Pierce, has your brain turned to mush? What do you mean I owe her? Should I have stripped naked and let her dad have his way with me?”

“She doesn’t blame her dad for being a criminal, but blames me for calling the police? You two disgusting people really are perfect for each other.”

Owen looked at me uncertainly, “You knew who she was?”

I’d known all along.

The day after this woman crawled into Owen’s bed, her background file was sitting on my desk.

Honestly, I was disgusted beyond words in that moment.

Both of them were revolting.

One knew the other’s identity, and one climbed into her enemy’s bed for revenge.

I didn’t answer, but Owen Pierce knew me well enough to read my expression.

“I thought once you knew who she was, you’d do everything to make her disappear from the city.”

He looked at me with a complicated expression.

“So why did you go after her later?”

If I hadn’t made a move at first, the chances of doing it later should have been low.

“Because she got pregnant.”

I’d given him this answer long ago.

When he still didn’t get it, I decided to lay everything out..

“The company belongs to my son. No one can take it away, especially not some bastard child.”

Owen frowned and argued, “That’s my son too. Even after divorce, what belongs to him, I wouldn’t withhold.”

I shook my head.

“I don’t believe you.”

“Besides, I want it all.”

Marriage makes strangers of the closest people.

“Owen Pierce, I gave you a chance.”

“If you’d walked away with nothing, we could have parted amicably.”

“Now I’ll just have to figure out how to become a widow.”

I left decisively, and when I walked out the door, I made sure to show my swollen face to the distance.
