Chapter 2
Ha. Owen’s idea of “making it right” was moving Ivy Wells into the villa next door.
Ivy was looking radiant as she directed people moving furniture inside.
When she saw me, she gave me a taunting smile.
“Miss Blake, I told Owen I loved your home’s layout, so he had designers recreate the exact same setup.”
“Even the nursery is identical.”
Owen walked out of the house, and when he saw me, his expression got a bit awkward. But he still immediately stepped in front of Ivy to protect her.
“Ivy likes the house here. You’re not living in the same place, so you won’t bother each other.”
Watching him stand so firmly in front of Ivy, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt.
Owen suddenly softened his tone.
“Nora, you hurt Ivy last time. Apologize to her, and you two can get along from now on.”
I looked at Owen, somewhat speechless.
What the hell was he thinking?
How could a wife possibly get along peacefully with a mistress?
When I didn’t grovel and apologize as he’d expected, a flash of displeasure crossed Owen Pierce’s eyes.
“Nora, when I give you an out, you should take it. If I wasn’t holding back, you’d already be in jail right now.”
What a joke. Even if he wanted to send me there, he’d need evidence.
I’d deleted all the surveillance footage clean.
If I didn’t have more important things to do today, I’d show him exactly what kind of person Nora Blake really was.
“Mommy.”
Mason’s sweet voice came from behind me. He was holding his teddy bear, waiting quietly for me.
I couldn’t help but soften my expression.
But then Ivy Wells actually crouched down right in front of Mason.
I moved to stop her, but Owen blocked me.
“You’re Mason, right? I heard you’ve been sick and weak since you were little?”
“Do you know why your body is so weak?”
“Because when your mom was pregnant with you, she was still fooling around with lots of men outside. She went too far and
caused you to be born premature. It’s all because of what your mom did. Who knows how much longer you’ll even live.”
“I’m different though. I keep myself pure. I’ll definitely give Owen a healthy child.”
Ivy let out a fake sigh.
Just as she was about to turn and gloat at me, I slapped her to the ground.
My assistant nearby quickly covered my son’s eyes and carried him back inside.
Ivy clutched her face, screaming as she tried to lunge at me. I grabbed her hair and slapped her again.
“How dare you! How dare you say that kind of thing in front of my son!”
I was shaking with rage.
“Owen, save me!”
A shocked Owen Pierce snapped back to reality and immediately stepped in front of me. He grabbed my hand and growled, “Enough.”
“Ivy wasn’t wrong. If you hadn’t been sleeping around with men while you were pregnant, why would Mason’s health be so poor? This is what you deserve.”
Even knowing how heartless this man could be, my heart was still deeply wounded.
Back when Mason was born at seven months, the company Owen and I had built together faced its biggest crisis.
The funding chain had collapsed.
If we didn’t solve this problem, bankruptcy was inevitable.
When he was ready to give up, I was the one who went out with my pregnant belly, begging people to invest.
Finally, I successfully secured the investment.
But the baby was born premature because I’d overworked myself.
I had clearly caused the premature birth because I was working for the company, which is why Mason was born with a weak
constitution.
But they twisted my efforts into something so disgusting.
Owen didn’t care about my pain at all.
“Look at yourself right now-you’re acting like a lunatic.”
Ivy shrieked behind him, “Owen, hit her back! I want her to pay for what she did to me!”
Just as I was about to throw caution to the wind and fight to the death, my assistant came running out anxiously, holding my
son.
“Ms. Blake, the young master can’t breathe.”
