Chapter 109 The Second Brawl

Chapter 109 The Second Brawl
\[Lilia\]

I could even feel the cadent beating of his heart on my back. It was a steady thumping despite our proximity, and it was calming somehow, making me forget about the searing stare burning holes in our direction. But, I just ignored it and set one of my eyes on the targets and one close.

However, in this game of making the great Kael jealous, I am starting to get worried about what will happen to Val after this. Kael was a man with the patience of a single thin hair strand, and Val’s safety comes to my mind.

“He can’t actually hurt you, can he?” I inquire because I am honestly concerned about this petty scheme that I have been playing. I don't want to get Val in trouble, but the way he talks about Kael skewering his head so nonchalantly has helped me feel more at ease.

“Don’t test his patience. He barely has one. Now, let’s finish this charade you started,” he chuckled, his sharp breath fanning across the side of my cheeks as he pressed the buttstock firmly into my shoulder, and my finger pressed the trigger slowly. But it doesn’t fire yet as I am still regulating my breathing and steadiness.

“Now, where’s the fun in that?” I grinned, calming my nerves.

“Naughty, Lilia. I like it. Where do you want to hit the target?”

“In the head,” I answered confidently now that he's supporting my back.

Val squeezed my hand, tilting the muzzle slightly up, queuing for me to pull the trigger.

Hail of bullets soared whizzing into the air, burying holes into the targets.

“Job well done, sweet cake,” Val extolled right after I emptied the last bullet of my magazine. My shoulders hurt, but it was worth it after seeing that I hit all the targets, leaving them all in shreds.

My plan somehow worked out just like how I envisioned it inside my head. I merely cast a cursory glance in Kael’s direction, but I was happy to see that his face was going crimson and that he was gnawing his jaw while his eyes were riveted to Val.

“Looks like someone is going to kill you,” I giggled like some giddy high school kid, lowering the rifle, turning to face Val, and pressing my palm to his chest.

“You’re going to get me in big trouble,” he chortled in response, taking my hand in his, continuing to act out his role throughout our travesty.

“I couldn’t have done it without you,” I added flirtatiously and a little bit louder so Kael could hear me, running my palm down. The smirk on my face stretched wider soon as I heard heavy footsteps coming our way.

Val took a step back away from me and turned to see the gnashing beast whose expression was ready to butcher somebody that messes his way.

“Val, let’s talk,” he gravely stated, flashing me a fleeting glance as Val sighed, nodding his head before they walked away from my ear shot.

I really do feel bad for Val if Kael decided to hurt him, but somehow my gut is telling me that he won’t do such a thing. One more thing to my sate my satisfaction, I quite like the way I see how Kael reacted to my game.

In the least, I know he was affected, though that doesn’t change the fact that he’s still an asshole.

“I know. You did that on purpose.”

Now, all of that happiness and contentment has vanished into thin air, only to be replaced with annoyance. All the mirth I felt earlier fled my body as I switched my attention to the woman that made my blood boil to the highest point even for doing nothing.

But I know she ain’t going to do nothing.

“I did what?” I groused in exasperation, playing the innocent as I removed the empty magazine from the rifle, proceeded towards the table, and set the gun down while making a concerted effort to ignore Sabina.

However, she trails closely behind me and suddenly steps in front of me, obstructing my path, crossing her arms around her chest, and looking at me sharply, eying me from head to toes.

“You think you can make him jealous by flirting with his henchman? You’re wrong. He just doesn’t like his property being touched by someone else,” she said, lifting her eyebrows like the mean witch that she is, and I just sighed, holding myself back from punching her in the face, and just stared at her void with any emotions.

“You hear me? You’re just a property to him, an object of pleasure. Nothing else,” she added, punctuating each word she said as though I did not hear her the first time.

This woman definitely knows how to get on my bad side, irritates me to the greatest point, and all I wanted to do was slap her head in the corner of the table till she was unable to talk anymore. She has mastered the art of making me vicious.

I know that would be brutal, but I bet that would be satisfying. However, I can’t do that.

I squared my gaze to her, lifting my chin confidently as I was not going to let her domineer me in any way. “If I am so? Why are you so threatened?” I rebutted sternly, smirking as I watched her smug face immediately disappear.

“I am not,” she snarled, bringing her fingers up and flaunting me her fancy diamond ring, declaring. “I am the fiancé.”

She’s insecure about her standing as Kael’s fiancé. She’s reeking with it, and I could smell her jealousy of me even for a miles away. No matter how she convinces herself that she and Kael are now engaged, that man simply does not care about her, and she could feel it the way he treated her.

Sometimes, I feel pity for her, if not for her bitchy attitude.

“Suit yourself,” I shrugged, moving forward and brushing her aside as I walked past her.

However, before I could take another step away from her, Sabina abruptly grabbed my hair and tugged it back so forcefully that I thought my head would fall apart from my neck.

I cried as pain blasted on my scalp.

“And what do you mean by that?” She roared in my ears, “You think you’re someone special, huh?”

I tried to get her wrist, digging my nails into her skin, but this witch just got a good grip.

“Let go of my hair!” I clinched my teeth, sucked in painful breaths, twisted my body so that I was facing her, reached for her hair, and pulled it even more forcefully.

We were brawling, pulling each other’s hair, and I was not going to put my training to waste in defending myself. I took my right foot forward and swept it over her ankles, kicking her, but a loud voice came into the background before she fell down.

“Hey!”

I could not decipher whom it belonged from, Kael or Val. I was too focused on taking this bitch down. However, my feet lifted off the ground just as my arms suddenly looped around my waist, grappling my hands to release my grip on the hair, pulling me away from her as the same happened to Sabina.

She was writhing, clawing her hands towards mine as Kael peeled her away from me like some vicious leech trying to suck my blood dry.

“What is happened here?” Val questioned me in a commanding tone as he set me down, his gaze traveling back and forth between the two of us while he massaged his temple with one hand and held his other hand clamped to his waist, appearing quite stressed with what had transpired.

While I, on the other hand, was still panting, and it seemed like my head was about to be ripped apart, I was gripping my stinging wrist from her scratches and gazing daggers at the bitch who caused it, all the while ignoring Val's query. My hair even looked like a broom in a haywire pointing in all places.

“Kael, she started it. She was saying mean things to me. She needed to be punished!” She shrieked like a banshee and pointed her fingers at me while spewing venomous words out of her mouth, portraying herself as the victim despite the fact that she was the one who actually started it, and now she's putting me at the end of the line.

“I did not!” I retorted, giving her the same intensity of repulsion. “You are such a bitch!”
