Chapter 29 JONAH'S FIRST WORK

I walked out of Seraphine office and practically dragged my feet down the hallway of the school and there he was Jonah standing like a model just out of magazine or some shit !.
I bumped my shoulder at him “ hey stand properly you can't actually get a job at the cafe if you keep your proud stature, you gotta look needy, like you're desperate or something.“
He stood up straight and removed his jacket off “ even if I dress poor i would still look rich, it's in my nature so can you lead the way miss”
I smiled and gave him a nod then started walking down the street that leads to the cafe “ you know we just come once in this life so I'd advise we enjoy it “
That was when I heard a snort and I turned my back to face the idoit am trying to motivate “ what's funny !”
“ Girl chill you just dropped a random quote from nowhere, you're sure you're okay huh ?” I shoved his hands off my shoulders and started walking faster I'd choose Mia over him a million time annoying ass!.
“ Try to keep up or you don't get to work no more, skunk!”
He started running breathing out loud “That's rude”
I ignored him till we got to the front of the restaurant door before I spoke “And How's that my business ?” I said and opened the door to the cafe, gesturing for him to walk in.
Mr. Rouke was always around so immediately he saw me he gave me a wave seems like his busy.
“ Good evening Mr.rouke,how's the day going for you “
He looked up at me and gave me a smile “That would have been a reversed question if I wasn't busy kid, but am good and who's the little friend you got there “
Yeah his just a little kid am gonna keep that as a reminder for later “ Oh his name is Jonah, his my friend at school and he needs a side job desperately cause his um… kind of … no not kind of, actually he really is … broke” and I gave Jonah a side eye to speak up before I talk shit.
“ Good day sir” he said bowing his head to show respect awwwn such a good boy.
Mr. Rouke just gave him a nod and looked at me “ you know Lilian we've got no vacancy for any new staffs” ouch!
“ Am aware Sir but I just thought it would be nice if he gave it a trail at all, you know better than not trying at all” I said scratching the back of my neck, I think I can be stupid at times this is so embarrassing !.
He sighed and touched his forehead am really frustrating this old man “ it's okay … it's okay, does he know how to make anything at all coffee .. anything “
I stared at Jonah to talk but the damn ugh this boy is annoying 🙄! “ His only good in serving actually, he has worked in a restaurant before actually”.
“ It's okay he can resume work immediately..” he said with a wave to dismiss us.
I did a mini jump and smiled “ Yes sir, thank you sir “ I turned my back to see Jonah leaving immediately after telling my boss thank you.
Immediately I turned and opened the door to leave and go get ready for work Mr.Rouke called me back and my heart skipped hope he didn't secretly employ Jonah to fire me .. nah that's impossible.
“ Yes sir” i said with an innocent smile.
“ LIlian I knew that young fella you brought in here hasn't worked once in his life cause he didn't seem surprised when I employed him but lying isn't good you know.. I hate it”
“ Am aware Sir, am sorry”
“ Whatever just keep an eye on him, I don't want my customers to complain of my workers tripping over air which is quite impossible”
“ I once tripped over air but thanks for the advice sir” I said and left the office immediately to go attend to customers… ugh am tired of working but when ever I see the bills I gotta pay my lazyass energy comes back just like right now!.
I saw Jonah walking into my direction “Lilian there's an order for cappuccino”
I looked at him and wanted to laugh but held my self back “ yeah they never get tired of that stuff … “ I gave him a once over look in his barista serving clothe and decided to let my mouth do the justice.
“ And your gown looks good on you by the way” that made his face turn red and he turned to leave but since super hearing shit of vampires I heard him say “ ugh I hate my life right now !”.
Fifteen minutes yeah that's the number of minutes I gave my sweet friend I practically employed through grace and he already broke two cups and splashed coffee and fell thrice … so damn lazy.
“ Jonah I swear to my black ass if you dare pour any more shit on that floor you're paying, you're not a bat jeez” I shouted throwing my hands up to show him my frustration he has to focus.
He lowered his head and wiped the sweat on his forehead “ Am sorry but am trying”
“ Then try harder be steady okay !”
“ Yeah noted “ he did a thumbs up and turned to leave uh uh not so fast !
“ Here take it to table 63 and don't spill it” I said with a wave of my hands.
Jonah stood for a minute and stared at me wide eye before he breathed out and practically dragged the order out of my hands oh his gonna hate me after today😁.
I smiled at him and took the next order not long and it clocked 10 pm oh sweet Jesus thank you, I removed my apron notified Jonah it was time to go … he didn't say anything just stood up and followed me.
Seraphine wasn't taking me home today, because I told her I was going home with Jonah that I was safe though I knew if anything comes up Jonah can't even hurt a fly I'd be the one doing the saving.
When we left the cafe after I've locked it I stretched my hands and my bone cracked “My God, oh am so tired … are you ?”
“ LIlian I really wanna call you a bitch right now but I'mma zip it”
“ Woah what's wrong did the customers hurt you in any way” he gave me a hard glare and shoved me aside.
“ Oh shut up after you made me clean the floor a million times just cause I spilled a damn coffee, that is not cool at all”
I laughed at him cause the stare he was giving me wasn't intimidating at all “ wait till you get ordered by Seraphine to do shit “
He stopped walking and turned to stare at me with a raised brow.. “ Who's Seraphine !”
