Had this been Matt's plot all along. Was he testing my loyalty and that of his wife's?

Meryl's feet touched the floor, then she tried to stand.
"Don't you dare think of coming towards me!" Matt warned, "I want you just the way you are - on that bed with Noah." He added.

Matt jumped to his feet, coming towards us. "Do you think I am stupid, Meryl? You have wanted Noah as much as he wanted you."
I felt stupid, standing there in my full glory yet still defending my guilt but Meryl was trying hard to protect her marriage.

Speechless I remained.
"Matt, I'm sorry. It'd only been an accident," she clasped both hands together in a pleading gesture.
"Matt, leave her out of this, Meryl is not to blame," I forced the words out from my mouth.
"Don't say any other word, Noah. Don't. But I'll let this go if you two get on with it," Matt's eyes were full of mockery.
"Get on with what?" My brows twitched, I simply didn't understand what he was driving at.
Meryl's hands covered her face, "Oh God, Matt, you can't be serious."

It dawned on me what Matt wanted. His face was stained with a smirk as he walked back to his chair.
"I haven't been long gone. What must have happened on the days I had been long gone?" Matt asked.
"Matt, this is our first. Meryl had never cheated on you," I was hoping he would let this go, but Matt had always been a stubborn man.
"But it's happening now, and good for you, you've waited a long time for this." Matt joked.
"Go on with it," he sounded impatient.
Meryl was crying now. Clearly, Matt wasn't letting this go. How would he watch us make out?
It sounded so crazy.
"No one is leaving here if you don't do what I want," Matt persisted.
No one said a word but Meryl's sobs wrecked the silence that was left of the moment.
