Chapter 88

West Wood Pack central grounds

“What do you mean Alpha Prince Kael is nowhere to be found?” Alpha Jake asked the guard who just informed him about Kael.

The elders all exchanged looks of worry.

Elder Victoria couldn’t help but express her anger. “I knew this would happen! He’s always been like this, his mood changes faster than the wind and he has a very foul mouth.”

Although her comment was unnecessary, Alpha Jake ignored her and faced Prime Luna Martha instead. In reality, this person had spoken to Kael’s mate, Naya, yesterday. Perhaps, he thought, she knew something.

“Kael is still an alpha prince of this pack,” Prime Luna Martha stated. “No matter what, he has to fulfill his obligations.”

The elders of the pack all nodded in agreement.

“What do you suggest we do to the bride candidate for him?” Elder Augustine asked.

“It’s a lady who came from the Night Ridge Pack not to mention,” Elder Victoria chimed in again. “It’s Alpha Joran’s daughter, Alpha Princess Margaux! We’ll lose face like this if we don’t do anything fast.”

Even though the room was massive, Alpha Jake could feel the weight on his shoulders, the tension clear and thick.

He let out a breath and ordered, “We will continue with the rites. About Princess Margaux… I’m afraid she has to take another mate.”

“What?!”

Angry fumes came out of Alpha Jake’s nostrils. Barely controlling his emotions, he said, “Our pack just have to face the consequences. I will deal with Joran and his wife later. We already know this rite is coming. We can’t postpone it any longer. The blue moon will be over soon. Without it, the mateship rite can’t proceed.”

Hearing this from their alpha, everyone quieted down. Carrying their hearts filled with anxiety, everyone exited the meeting room.

Outside, Alpha Princess Margaux sat on the table along with other bride candidates for the alpha princes. She was silently observing everyone in the pack, watching how the West Wood Pack members behaved particularly.

Suddenly, a figure appeared before her.

“You must be Princess Margaux.”

Margaux looked up and saw Luna Sierra. She stood up and greeted the pack Luna with a sweet smile. “Luna Sierra.”

Luna Sierra was pleased by the remark and gesture. Although she didn’t like the fact that Margaux was wearing a more elegant dress than her, she still felt more confident due to her own appearance that was enhanced by the servants and healers the other day.

Clearing her throat, she proceeded to tell Margaux, “There are changes in the mateship rite. I want you to prepare.”

“What changes are you pertaining to, Luna Sierra?” Margaux asked.

Luna Sierra sensed Margaux’s worry. Not trying to beat around the bush, she sighed and answered, “The Alpha Prince you have chosen is currently not available for this year’s rite. I’m afraid you can’t proceed with him. That said, Alpha and I decided to give you this option. You can choose another alpha prince for the rite.”
