Kael glanced down at Naya who seemed to stir in her sleep. Not taking his gaze away, he uttered, “Did he want to fight?”
The servant stammered, “I– Prince– Um–”
Before Kael could say something strange, Jed said, “Please tell Alpha Prince Lorenzo we’ll meet him later. For now, Alpha Prince Kael needs some time to rest before the Ceremony.”
Dismissing the servant, Jed then turned to Kael. “Alpha Prince, what should we do?”
Alpha Prince Kael calmly leaned back once more, not even worrying a bit as he said, “Let him do what he wants.”
“What? But Alpha Prince–”
“You’re worrying too much, Jed. Calm down. Didn’t you hear what my father said? The anointed shaman has arrived,” Kael reminded with a smirk.
Seeing that smirk, Jed’s own lips twitched anxiously. Indeed. When did Alpha Prince Kael ever listen to him anyway? Well, it didn’t matter. As long as he wouldn’t create more trouble than he already did, they would be fine. Staying quiet in this kind of situation was better than going outside and confronting–
“Kael! Come out!"
The calculations in Jed’s head instantly vanished. He looked outside and sure enough, Alpha Prince Lorenzo stood there. He appeared not as good as the last time they had seen him. Nevertheless, the anger in his eyes was enough to say he wasn’t going to let Alpha Prince Kael go without confronting him.
“Prince, I think it’s best if you don’t–” Jed’s words trailed off as he watched how Kael ignored him completely and stepped out of the carriage.
“What’s the matter, Lorenzo? Do you want to play with me?” Kael teased.
Lorenzo’s voice was deep and serious, “I dare you to say another nonsense.”
A small laugh escaped Kael’s lips. He tilted his head to the side. Here, Lorenzo, his most righteous brother, was blocking their path during a very important event in their pack. Did he actually forget today was the day of the blessing ceremony?
Lorenzo’s gaze went to the carriage before he looked at Kael with firm, determined eyes, “Answer me the truth. Did you or did you not bring Naya with you?”
At that, Kael’s playful look slowly disappeared.
“I don’t remember giving you the permission to say my mate’s name,” he said, voice getting dark.
There were no signs of any fear in Lorenzo’s face. “Answer me,” he sternly said.
The tension surrounding the two alpha princes of the pack became more evident as seconds passed. The guards and servants of each carriage all stood at the side, worriedly watching the two brothers face each other.
“Alpha Prince,” Rui, Lorenzo’s beta, moved to him closer and said in a low voice, “The guard has confirmed it. A woman is inside their carriage.”
Lorenzo’s eyes widened and trembled, his anger was clearer as he shot it at Kael. Then he hissed and said, “You did something, didn’t you? Well, it doesn’t matter. I’m going to bring her back with me.”
He turned to his soldiers, “Get Naya out of that carriage! Now!”
Kael stood still, his aura silent and cold.
Jed anxiously stood at his side, watching how Alpha Prince Lorenzo’s soldiers began to move to Alpha Prince Felix’s carriage where Naya was.
At the same time, another voice emerged from the carriage.
“What do you think you’re doing?” a young man said, stepping out as he looked around with lazy eyes. His hair and clothes, despite being slightly crooked for having slept for so long, carried a sense of high reputation that people wouldn’t overlook easily. His eyes the color of the sunset brought an incredible sense of warmth but the way he spoke made people think what he actually thought. All of this, mixed with the silent and listless expression on his face, brought a sense of eccentric familiarity.
The servants from Lorenzo’s carriage stared at him in wonder and awe. When they finally realized who it was, they hurriedly bowed down and greeted, “Alpha Prince Felix.”
