Chapter 12
*****Jaxons POV*****
Faye remains seated on the balcony, as I decide to approach her - slumping into the seat opposite where her friend had sat before.
"So?" I start, folding my arms across my chest as she shuffles slightly on the seat.
"I'll do it... not that I have much of a choice anyway... but I do have some concerns." Her voice grows quiet towards the end, causing me to sit forward - placing my hands on the table.
"You have my attention." I encourage her to continue, grateful that she has agreed so far - without it being a wasteful fight.
"I spoke with Michael, and he made a good point... he said that what if..." She clears her throat and trails off, looking nervous as I raise a brow.
"What if? I don't have all day princess." I state, eager to know what the hell she's so nervous about now.
"What if I end up... say... having feelings for you later down the line or you do with me? With us being fake married and living together and all of that... what if it leads to something more?" She doesn't look at me as she speaks, seeming embarrassed by the thought as I lean back again.
Surely she is joking. I've just damn kidnapped her ass and I threaten her on an hourly basis. She could never have feelings for me - I'm simply an impossible man to love.
"I'm just not a lovable guy princess... if you want a quick fuck then I'm all yours but I'm not into the soppy shit." I state, noticing her cheeks redden whilst her hands shake slightly on her lap.
"I don't think It will happen anyway... but he told me to let you know that it would be a problem if it did." She shrugs slightly, refusing to look up as I nod.
"Well in that case, if by small chance you did feel something for me, then tell me and I'll avoid rubbing it in your face when I go with another woman... I'll keep it separate from the house." I state my solution, thinking off the top of my head.
"Ok yeah sure... that sounds fine... like I said I doubt it will be a problem anyway." She stares up at me after a moment of thought, seeming slightly comforted now.
"Anything else?" I ask, expecting there to be more.
"Please don't just bully and use me as a punching bag either." She speaks out suddenly, as I feel a slight pain tug at my chest.
I wouldn't do that... at least not on purpose... especially not to this tiny female who I've practically kidnapped and forced to marry me in Italy... the least I can do is give the woman a break when she has, so far, agreed to all of this.
"Well I can't promise you anything because you've seen my temper... and I've never lived with a female permanently who isn't family so I don't know what I'll be like... but I'll try my best not to ever take things too far with you." I nod, choosing my words carefully, as she pauses before nodding back.
"Ok... and what if things get complicated and we get serious partners... what happens when we want to marry other people for real down the line or start a family and a home together...?" She ponders, as I stare out at the view briefly to think.
"Then we can get a divorce. If that's what we would truly want at that time." I decide, looking back to find her eyes as she watches me carefully.
She takes a slow, steady breath, before placing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"Ok, so when do you want to do this whole thing? Also will it be official with a contract and stuff? I really want Mike to have that cafe... it's all he practically lives and works for." She asks quietly, as I offer her a short smile - a rare occurrence for me.
She's being so easy with all of this.
I study her as her eyes widen slightly, before she offers me a small smile in return - seeming calmer than when I had left her earlier.
Bringing that friend of hers was my best idea yet... as long as he was here to keep her company she would be happy. A win for everybody...
"It will be a small wedding here at the house with my closest friends - the ones that you seen on the plane... is there anybody else that you want here other than Michael?" I ask, watching as she fidgets with the crumpled oversized shirt she wore.
"Uh... I actually don't have any other friends or family. Keep the circle small so they say." She shrugs and forces a laugh, seeming embarrassed by the fact as she turns her head to look at the garden now.
"That's fine. It will be small but we can make it nice. You can get whatever dress and shit you want. I'll have one of our younger event staff take you shopping and you can organise the details with her. I know that it's a forced wedding... but you can at least make the most of it and don't worry about the cost. It's Monday today so I was thinking we do it Wednesday... after that you can just enjoy the holiday." I conclude, as she stares at me like a deer caught in headlights.
"Y-Yeah...." She wobbles, as I cock my head at her.
"What?" I push on, as she shrugs and sighs.
"Sorry it's just a lot... I didn't think two days ago that this would be my life... it's sort of a half fairytale half nightmare... no offence." She explains, as I put my head back - looking up to the pale sky.
"I get it." Is all I say, a small part of me feeling guilty for doing this to her, before it quickly disappears when the thought of marrying Eden enters my mind.
"The last thing we need you to do is to make new social media accounts." I remember the detail, before we hear a knock - signalling that the lunch I had ordered was here.
I stand and leave her on the balcony, going to the room door to open and take the trolley from the waiter.
I drag it back to where we were both sitting, before placing the creamy pasta bowl in front of her with a glass of orange juice.
It was Nico's idea to bring her lunch whilst we talk about the plan. He suggested it would ease the tension if I at least try to treat her like a normal human...
"If you don't like it then just say so and I can change it." I state in a huff, as I sit with my own bowl, taking a large fork full - stuffing it into my mouth.
"No it's really great... thank you." She smiles after eating a small piece, before continuing with another.
I watch her as she eats and looks out at the view every once in a while, seeming almost content with being here.
If I would have taken any other female they would have created more hard work for me. They would have wanted more, had more baggage in terms of family and friends, had people searching for them and shit... but with her... the minute I learned that she had nothing in life other than that shit cafe and her friend Michael, she had to be the one...
"So what did you mean... about the social media stuff? I don't have any social media." She explains, as I take a drink of my water, before clearing my throat.
"You'll make new accounts, and you'll have to post nice pictures of yourself and your new life on there - and then after the wedding you'll post our photos too. It will be proof to all of the other business owners that our wedding was legit and that you're happy being with me." I state, as she nods briefly and continues to eat.
"But for that, I will sort of need my phone back first." She states the obvious, as I roll my eyes at her confidence.
"You'll get a new phone, a higher quality one, that my team have also bugged." I state, as her eyes widen and she pauses before eating her next fork of pasta.
"Bugged?" She questions warily, as I stab at the last few tubes on my plate.
"I'll be able to see everything you do on the phone. You can't call or text anybody for help or try to escape our deal - ever." I finish my pasta, before wiping my mouth and hands on the napkins.
"That's really not necessary..." She begins, before I raise a hand to halt her in the sentence.
"It's what will happen. I am not a fool princess so don't test me. Be thankful you're even getting a phone." I grumble, finding myself growing suddenly irritated with her.
"Fine." She sighs, not wanting to upset me further, before she pushes back her half empty bowl signalling that she was finished.
"I'll leave you to shower and change. I'll come back in an hour and if you want to go downstairs to look around or have a nap it's up to you. You will go for your dress and other shit you want tomorrow, yes?" I question, making sure she understood the plan, as I stand from my chair to leave.
"Is Mike able to come tomorrow too?" She asks, as I nod briefly, watching her face light up slightly.
"I'll be back for you soon." I nod, before leaving to handle some business in my office...
So far the plan was going well... if she continues to behave and do as I say then everybody will believe that she's actually my wife...
She just isn't ready for what that title might bring...
