Chapter 39 Unexpected Visitors
Gracie
“What the heck are you two doing here?” she chuckles.
Ben smirks. “We miss our girls.”
Lola blushes. “Oh, hush.”
“Hey, brown eyes. Did you miss me?” Ryland asks, smirking too.
Well, aren’t they just charmers and maybe slightly arrogant?
“You wish, baby boy.” I tease.
Ryland pouts at me and holds his hand over his heart, a sad look on his face. His way of saying I just broke his heart. I roll my eyes and shake my head. Ryland chuckles at my reaction.
“Sneak out,” Ben says.
“We can’t. My parents are still up.”
“You two come down, or we are coming up. The choice is yours, baby girl.” Ben replies.
Lola and I look at one another, trying to work out the best thing.
“It is better if they come up. At least that way we can hide them if we hear my parents. We can go out once my parents are in bed,” she suggests.
I am not sure if this is such a good idea, but Lola is right, it will be far easier to hide them than for us to sneak out. It would be too obvious if her parents came in and we were gone.
“Come up. You will need to climb up the drainpipe because I can’t let you in the front door.” Lola says.
The guys are fine with it. I am sure they both have done it before, probably more than once. Lola opens the window all the way, and we step back. It doesn’t take long for them both to climb up and climb in the window. Lola is mid-sentence telling them to be quiet when Ben pulls her in and kisses her, effectively and quickly shutting her up. They better not start making out. If they do, I will be climbing out of the window that Ryland and Ben climbed in.
Ryland reaches for me and grips my hips, pulling me against him and kisses me softly. A small moan escapes from my lips. It only lasts a moment before he draws away.
“You missed me, baby girl, admit it,” he says.
“Maybe a little…”
“I missed you, gorgeous. So am I going to get this back, or have you claimed it?” he asks and tugs at his tee that covers my body.
“It is mine now.”
“I am fine with that, brown eyes. You look good in my clothes.” Ryland replies with a wink.
Ben and Lola finally part ways. We make sure the guys know that since they hijacked our girls’ night, they will be watching the girly movies with us. Of course, neither of them seems thrilled with the idea, but they know they don’t have a choice. We put the movie back to the start, making sure the guys watch it from the beginning.
Lola and Ben make themselves comfortable on the bed. Ryland and I do the same on the floor. I lie between his legs as he sits with his back against the bed. I rest myself against his chest.
Ryland’s lips land at my ear. “Are you doing okay?”
I glance over my shoulder at him. “I am fine. You?”
He reaches down to kiss me softly. “I am better now.”
I always get butterflies when he says things like that to me. We part, and I rest back against him again. Ryland slips his arms around me. I close my eyes as the safe feeling takes over me in the way it always does when I am in Ryland’s arms.
Silence fills the rooms as we watch the movie, talking now and then. The guys seem to be enjoying the movie, something they will never admit. Why do guys never admit they enjoy romance movies? There is nothing wrong with it.
Just as the movie comes close to the end, we hear Lola’s parents come upstairs and pause the movie.
Lola points towards the closet. “Both of you, closest, now. Hurry up,” she says, shooing them along.
They are trying their best not to laugh and do as they are told. This should be interesting. Lola’s closet isn’t very big. I bite my lip to stop from laughing. The moment the closest door closes, a knock comes at the bedroom door. Lola and I quickly dive onto the bed before she calls for them to come in.
“We are going to go to bed. You know not to be up too late, you both have school in the morning.” Lola’s mom says.
“We will be going to bed soon, Mom.” Lola smiles through her lie.
Her parents say goodnight to us both, telling Lola they love her before heading to their room. That was a close call. Luckily, we heard them. We wait to make sure the coast is clear before we let the guys out of the closet. We hear them stumbling about, groaning and complaining as they try to get out. Lola and I burst out laughing.
“Not funny. I don’t need to be that close to a dude ever again.” Ben pouts.
His annoyance makes us laugh more. The guys glare at us. It doesn’t help; if anything, it only makes us worse.
“Sorry.” I breathe out through my laughter.
“You don’t seem it. You two are mean.” Ryland huffs.
What did they expect? They were being overdramatic. They can’t blame us for laughing at them. I stroll over to Ryland. I grab him and pull him close to me.
I bat my lashes at him. “Will you forgive me?”
Ryland shakes his head. “Nope.”
I can see he is trying to fight back a smile. I cover his lips with mine, kissing him. “What about now?” I ask and rest my hand on his chest.
“Almost.”
I kiss him again. Ryland slips his arms around me and kisses back, smiling into my lips. I will say he has forgiven me now. I pull away and smile proudly since I won.
“Hmm, I don’t know what I think about this! How easy it is for you to get me to forgive you,” he chuckles.
“What can I say, you have a soft spot for me.”
“I would call it more than that, brown eyes.”
“You would, huh? What would you call it?”
Ryland's lips fall against my ear. “I like that you are turning me into a weak-ass man.”
A shudder runs through me as the warmth of his breath tickles my neck. All I can do is nod. I hear Lola clear her throat, and we put distance between us. Ryland smirks before we focus back on Ben and Lola.
“Come on. We are heading out for a bit.” Lola says.
It would seem we are sneaking out tonight. I don’t mind, as long as we don’t get caught, or Lola will get into trouble.
“Where are we going?” Ryland asks.
“We can work that out when we are outside.” Ben smiles.
It won’t be for long. We have school tomorrow. I can’t miss another after not going today. We will find something to do for a bit to occupy ourselves. It is becoming a habit of mine, sneaking out and climbing out of windows. It is new to me, but I am okay with it because it isn’t like we are going out to get into trouble.
