Chapter 85 Camilla’s Pov.

Chapter 85 Camilla’s Pov.
The guard grinned as he pulled an AK-47 from a bag and slipped past the doors.

He raised the gun and fired about ten rounds into the men's head. Blood and brain matter were strewn everywhere and I turned my head away from the scene before me. I felt Àlvaro rest his hand on the small of my back, fully understanding why I had to turn away.

I might've accepted him for what he does and who he was but that doesn't mean I was comfortable with such a gory scene.

“Quickly!” The guard screamed.

Àlvaro and I ran up the stairs and into the jet where we saw the pilot fidgeting in his seat. Àlvaro walked into the cockpit with his gun pressed to the back of the pilot's head, yelling at him rapidly.

When he got out of the cockpit, he motioned for us to seat. “We're good to go, buckle up.”

I nodded shakily, taking a seat in one of the black leather chairs and strapped myself in. I felt the roar of the engine as the plane began to move and subsequently lifted into the air. I pulled my legs into my chest and curled into a tight ball.

I felt the cushion dipped as Àlvaro sat down next to me.

“That was actually really cool, what you did back there. I was quite impressed.” He said quietly.

I lifted my head and smiled softly. “Thanks.”

“Hey.” He placed his warm hand on my arm. “Are you okay?”

I shrugged. “I know I'm responsible for everything that went down today and I'm really sorry about that but…seeing how easily you threaten to kill and actually kill people like it's nothing is just something I sometimes find hard to get over.”

Àlvaro sighed. “I know, Camilla but whatever happened today wasn't your fault. If you hadn't gone out, Dmitri would still find a way to get to you, trust me, I've known him for years. Also, I have to do what I do in order to keep the people I love alive. It's either me or them. You know this, Camilla. I'll choose me anytime because choosing me is choosing you also.”

He closed his eyes. “I need you, Camilla and when I tell you I need you, do not take it lightly. I do everything I want to never depend on anyone, to never show weakness…so when I say I need you, it means I'm trusting you. I'm trusting you to catch me when I fall.”

A sentimental Àlvaro is someone I still find very hard to deal with. I was so used to his dominant side that whenever he talks like this, my heart melts.

I was about to say something when the guard walked over to us.

“We're going to land soon, boss. What do I do with the pilot?”

Àlvaro glanced at me before he replied. “Allow him fly back to the Maldives. Let Dmitri do with him whatever he wants.” He said and I instantly knew the original plan was to kill him but he changed his mind because of me.

Àlvaro's Pov.

Just when the noise from the incident at the Maldives had died down and life was slowly returning back to the mafia normal, a document was delivered to my warehouse that made me too stunned to speak after going through it.

What. The. Fuck?

Thankfully, it came with a return address and I wasted no time to grab my keys and zoomed off to the location.

Immediately I got to the location, I knew without a doubt where that document had come from and I instantly regretted coming alone.

“Oh! Àlvaro! What a pleasant surprise.” I saw Vincenzo's disgusting smile staring at me from the other side of the table, surrounded by his bodyguards.

So this is where this bastard has been hiding out.

My fingers were already itching to reach for my gun and blow his brains out but even I knew that that was a grave mistake. I was severely outnumbered. The guards looked like they were waiting for me to make one wrong move just to finish me off.

But if necessary, I still wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger for everything this bastard did to Camilla. I'd gladly meet him in hell.

“Oh..don't get me wrong. I was expecting a visit from you.” He said, taking a drag from his cigarette as he leaned back on the expensive leather chair and crossed his legs. “But seeing how you always like to parade that girl wherever you go, I was expecting her to be with you. I heard what happened with Dmitri.” He chuckled and God help me, it took the last bit of self restraint I had not to shoot him right there and then.

“Cut the bullshit, Vincenzo. What the fuck was that document?” I hissed.

“Oh that?” He chuckled, waving his hand. “Honestly Àlvaro, it baffles me that you didn't do a background check on that girl or maybe you did but you're just getting incompetent. See why I'm more deserving of this empire?”

“Over my dead body, Vincenzo.”

“Careful, Àlvaro. You might just get your wish.” Vincenzo exhaled the smoke, putting a big grin on his face that I personally wanted to wipe off.

I didn't hold back, my hand curled into a fist, slamming hard on the table, causing Vincenzo to freeze in place, with no trace of his smile anymore and all of his dogs reached for their pistols but he quickly stopped them with his hand.

“Àlvaro, Àlvaro, Àlvaro.” Vincenzo sighed, his voice sounding frustrated, making my blood boil even more. “Don't be stupid like your pathetic father. Yes, he was my brother but he was a pathetic son of a bitch, wouldn't you agree?” He laughed but I said nothing. I refused to agree with this fucker because he was no different from my sorry excuse of a father.

“Tell me about that document.” I said through gritted teeth.

“First of all, I know you think I'm responsible for the raid on your other mansion but I'm an intentional killer, Àlvaro. Not a waster. When I'm gathering my resources to kill someone, you know who I'd be gunning for, you know where my interest lies. I don't waste lives that I have no interest in.”

Vincenzo may be everything disgusting but one thing he's not is a liar. He's my uncle and I could see it in his eyes. He wasn't lying to me right now.

He's not responsible for the death of Chloe. Then, who was?

“I think you should ask your little girlfriend's father.” He smirked at me, challenging me. “I think he has the answers to this very important question of yours. You know, I think my decision to hold off on killing you is worth it because watching you squirm right now is like icing on my cake.” He laughed.

“Camilla’s father is dead.” I muttered, confusion written all over my face.

“I should take a picture of you right now because I've never seen the mighty Àlvaro confused. Oh my poor little nephew.. there's so much you don't know. I wouldn't blame you though, your father kept quite a lot from us.”

“You know you're not going to get shat you want right?” it was my turn to smile darkly. “No matter how many sick games you play.”

“And what do you think I want, boy?” He asked, arching an eyebrow with a sneer as he placed his hands on the table, his eyes locked on me.

“My empire. Camilla.” I said. “Find another way to play with me but don't bring her into it. She has nothing to do—”

“You've got your dick so far up her pussy that you don't realise that she's got everything to do with this.” He interrupted me, raising his voice. “You really think this is some kind of game?” He asked and I nodded curtly.

Everything in this life that we live is based off of money, power and territory and I knew that was the end game to everything my uncle was saying.

“Because your father wasn't honest with you and because you were too incompetent to do a proper background check on the girl you kidnapped, I did the work for you.” He choked out from the smoke, extinguishing the second cigarette and crossed his arm on the wooden table looking at me. “Camilla’s father is alive. He faked his own death just so your father would stop harassing him and his family. Now that he knows your father is dead and you have his daughter, he's taking revenge, destroying your empire one mansion at a time.” He spat out the words with glee but I just watched him and still couldn't believe my ears as he confirmed most of what the document I received earlier said.

I blinked rapidly, still reminding myself that Vincenzo Castillo can be anything from a monster to a cold hearted killer but he's not a liar. But I was still in shock, in disbelief, my mind refusing to believe these words.

“You don't believe me?” He raised an eyebrow, his gaze darkened as he slid a black folder across the table. I looked down at it, my throat dry and my head a fucking mess. “I didn't think you would. See for yourself then. Oh, and he's Dmitri's boss.” Vincenzo smiled, enjoying my discomfort a little too much.

The fuck?!

I looked between the folder and him. It was clear my distress was enough to get his juices running.

If Camilla’s father was truly alive and has a score to settle with my father, then he might have a real reason to be after me. Not for money, power, or territory but for his child.

Fucking hell.

I needed to have a conversation with Camilla’s mother and I needed to have it now.
