Chapter 60 Camilla’s Pov.

Chapter 60 Camilla’s Pov.
2 hours before....

Álvaro has been so busy with work that I've barely seen or heard from him for two days now.

My eyes glanced to my phone when I woke up but there was nothing from him yet, not even a text message. I couldn't help but feel like a clingy bitch but what else was I supposed to do? I'm practically falling for that man.

I threw my phone down on the bed and I walked downstairs into the kitchen. I was surprised to see Rizzo sitting at the counter.

His facial expression gave me the impression that he didn't want to talk so I quietly walked past him. We hadn't exactly being on speaking terms since Àlvaro caught me at the club. Rizzo still blamed me for blackmailing him into coming along and making him look incompetent as a bodyguard and I know I should apologize but I just hadn't found the right time yet.

I practically opened every cabinet just because I was feeling restless. I glanced over at Rizzo who was curiously watching me from his spot, probably wondering if I was okay.

My head turned towards the window and I glanced up at the beautiful blue sky. A flock of birds flew over the trees in the back garden and I crossed my arms over my chest. Some fresh air might do me some good.

I looked back to Rizzo. “May we go for a walk?”

A sigh fell from his lips and he glanced out the window. “You're not gonna try to blackmail your way into this one?" He asked.

I threw my hands up in defense. “I just want to get some fresh air and stretch my legs. And I'm sorry." I said the apology in a whisper but we were the only ones here so he definitely heard me.

"Alright." He sighed after a few moments, finally giving in. "But only for a short while."

I nodded as I grabbed my coat and shoes and we headed out. Rizzo told some of the guards that we were just walking around the area. I realised that there weren't as many men and I knew that something big was happening. They all nodded and we walked around to the back.

I took down a deep breath because I was already enjoying this. Part of me still despised the fact that I couldn't move around freely on my own.

I glanced at Santiago out of the corner of my eye.
“So how long have you known Álvaro?” I asked him.

My question seemed to startle him because he turned his head away from surveying the vast lands around us and focused on me.

"What makes you think I've always known Àlvaro? And not just someone he just got off the internet as a bodyguard?"

"First of all, I've come to believe that I know how Àlvaro operates and I know he'd never just pick someone off the internet. Secondly, even if he had picked you up off the internet, he wouldn't have wasted a second firing your ass at the club. Again, I'm sorry about that."

Rizzo chuckled slightly. "You're right. My father used to work for Álvaro's father so we practically grew up together. I didn't think twice about parking up and moving to Miami when he talked about operating his empire from here.”

“You must miss home.” I comment as I shoved my hands into my coat pocket, recalling the wonderful day I spent with my family back in Spain.

“Everyday. Not a day goes by that I don't miss Spain but I've also built a home here with Álvaro.”

I was genuinely surprised that he was opening up to me but I also remember that he's been stuck in the house with me, probably also going out of his mind.

“Thank you for coming on this walk with me.” I said sincerely.

“I think we both needed it.”

I nodded at his words. “True. I'm going a little crazy.”

Rizzo turned and focused on me with those handsome eyes of his. “You know what you're signing up for when you get involved in a life with a mafia boss.”

"Well, I'm sure you know the story of how I ended up here so I wouldn't exactly say that I signed up for this life."

“The life clearly chose you then. I've known Álvaro since we were kids,” He started and I hugged my coat closer to my body. “He's never really let himself get close to women. He only uses them as fuck slaves or as a source of income in his clubs but it's obvious that you were meant to come into his life.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Since you came into his life, he's softer. Man, I'm surprised he didn't just shoot you dead the moment you stumbled upon the shooting at the club. He wants to please you. He's becoming a better man that isn't fuelled by anger.”

I pondered on his words for a moment. Is Álvaro really trying to change for me?

I have my doubts.

“Anyways,” Rizzo rasped. “He might not know it yet but that man has it bad for you.”

A chuckle escaped my lips, hoping with everything in me that he was right. "How can you even tell?"

“You guys really aren't discreet by any means.”

I pressed a hand to his shoulder, pushing him but he didn't even move.

“You're weak.” He commented.

“Yeah, that's because I haven't trained in forever.”

A man turned down the path with a dark hoodie over his head and his eyes to the floor. I felt Rizzo tense and stepped closer to me. At first, I felt a little apprehensive but I managed to wave it off. It's probably nothing.

As the man walked by, Rizzo switched places with me so he's on the side with the man. In a split second, the strange man glanced up and pulled out a syringe from his pocket, swinging it straight towards me.

Rizzo pushed me away and punched him in the gut, knocking the syringe out of his hands.

I stood there startled as Rizzo growled and punched him again, this time, in the face. Dark crimson blood trickled from his nose and onto the ground. I immediately looked away and the next thing I heard was the sound of bones crushing.

He broke his neck!

Rizzo then grabbed me. “We need to get back to the house. Now!” He said and I nodded frantically.

We made to run towards the house but stopped in our tracks at the three men rushing towards us. “Shit.” I shook as I turned around, only to find more men behind us. “Rizzo, what do we do?”

He pulled out the gun from his waistband when they started charging at us. He fires off towards the man closest to us and he tumbled to the ground like dead weight. More gunshots went off in the air but even I knew that he didn't have enough ammunition to kill them all.

My blood ran cold and I began to panic. I turned behind me and one drew a gun and aimed it directly at my face. I raised my arms in surrender because I didn't know what to do when you're ganged up on by six men. These ones wouldn't hesitate to shoot me if I so much as ran.

Rizzo grabbed me, shooting his gun towards the men behind me. Suddenly, he pressed the trigger but it didn't go off.

Shit!

“Goddammit!” He growled.

He threw the gun towards the nearest man, clocking him on the head but it didn't knock him out. We only managed to get him more angry. Then they all charged at once towards us. Rizzo tried to fight them all off but it's of no use. One of them grabbed my arm and thrust me into the ground with force.

My face hit the floor and I wriggled in their grip as I tried to get out and scream as loud as possible to maybe attract the other guards.

Rizzo attempted to fight his way out of the four other men, trying to get back to me but there's no use. One of the men pointed a gun at his temple and pulled the trigger. I cried out as blood seeped out of the wound and he tumbled to the ground.

"Rizzo!"
