Chapter 47 Àlvaro's Pov.
Getting back into work now that Antonio's club launch is over has been my priority but I've been a little distracted, more than a little distracted and that distraction was Cami. I couldn't remember the last time I got a good night's sleep because she's always on my mind day and night.
"I'm completely destroying you."
I couldn't stop thinking about her response to me the other night because she was absolutely right. She was indeed destroying me.
Antonio's name lights up my phone, pushing me out from my thoughts. I pushed back my chair and rubbed my eyes quickly. I answered the call and raised the phone to my ear.
“Anthonio.” I said into the phone. “How are you?”
“All good, Álvaro. All good.”
“The launch was great.” I commented. "Santiago told me they had a great time."
“I'm pleased.” He said deeply. “It was a sucessful night to say the least and we're hoping for more to come but I called just to give you an update on Sergei.”
At the mention of Sergei, I leaned onto my desk with my elbow and focused my eyes on the wall ahead. “Yeah, what's going on?”
“He's back from his little trip and he wants me to meet with him to discuss some plans for our partnership but this is the time we set a trap and ambush him.”
"You think it will happen that soon?"
I quirked my eyebrows. I had no idea that Sergei would be so eager to start up a business with Anthonio, not this soon anyway but he's always been desperate for money and power. He probably thinks it would be the perfect opportunity to get him more money, drugs, women and clients. But little does he know that we're just fucking with him.
“Faster than I expected.” He said. "But I can get everything set up to give us a headstart and then we can go from there."
My lips curled into a smile. “Sounds like a plan."
"I also believe that some of his men are loitering around." He warned me. "Especially with the club now open. I know that they'll be lingering because Sergei would want to make sure I'm legit. So you might want to limit your visits here."
"I suspected as much." I admitted and pushed my sleeve up to my elbow.
Anthonio cleared his throat. "We need to be super careful of where and when we meet up next. We don't want anyone getting suspicious and ruining our plan when we're so damn close. You have no idea how long I've wanted to take that sick fuck down."
I huffed out a breath through my nose. "You and me both, hermano. But you're right. We need to be extra careful from now on. Once he's gone, we won't have to worry about this shit. Let's just focus on getting that bastard out of the way for good."
(Hermano: Brother)
"Also, with this war coming so close, there's something I would love to suggest to you." Anthonio started and I remained silent, waiting for him to speak. "You know how Sergei has made an attempt on the life of your guest twice? I think it would be probably wise to take her to a secure location while we deal with Sergei just to be safe. You know I'm not buying that crap about her being your prisoner. I've seen the way you look at her."
"Fuck you, man." I said, gritting my teeth but i just couldnt deny the fact that Anthonio was making a whole lot of sense.
He chuckled. "Whatever you say man, it was just a suggestion. Anyways, I'll let you get on.” He said. “We'll catch up soon.”
“Most definitely. Talk to you later.” I ended the call and threw the phone down on the desk. I could already feel the taste of both Sergei and Vincenzo's blood on my tongue and in my veins and I couldn't wait to see the look of fear in their eyes as I blew their brains out.
Taking Camilla to a secure location was beginning to sound even more than a brilliant plan because the last thing I wanted was for Sergei or my uncle, Vincenzo to ever get their hands on her. Yeah, her friend, Chloe too but I have a lot of secret houses and I'll be separating the both of them again. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself to trust that girl.
'Maybe because you're not fucking her the way you're fucking Camilla so she's not messing with your head.' My subconscious mind spat back at me.
Shut up man.
After a few moments, I stood up from my desk and headed downstairs. Thankfully, the two people I wanted to talk to were already there. When my eyes met Camilla’s, she smiled and my heart jumped in my chest.
This woman is too damn beautiful for this world.
I looked away, signaling to Santiago and I explained the idea of relocating Camilla as well as her friend, Chloe to a secured location until after the war with Sergei dies down.
He was totally on board and what was left was telling Camilla.
I approached Camilla who was sitting on the kitchen counter just as Santiago sauntered off, probably to tell Chloe the news. I've been suspecting those two for a while but Santiago is surprisingly tight lipped.
"So." I started when I approached her. "It's going to be really busy and even more dangerous around here for a while so I'll be taking you to one of much more secure properties for you to live by yourself. Somewhere you could even go for walks or do whatever."
"Really?" She beamed and her excitement melted my heart. "But what about Chloe? If you think I'm gonna leave her here then you better think again."
Such a sweetheart until she opens her mouth to speak!
"Chloe would be safe in another location because if you think I'm gonna let you two live together in one house, you better think again." I said, using her own words against her.
"But I'll be alone." She mumbled.
"I'll be coming over to check on you all the time and you'll also be getting a live in bodyguard, so don't worry about that."
Her lips pursed, opened and closed like she wanted to say something but quickly decided against it. "I suppose it's better than being holed up in this lion's den all day."
"Bitch." I muttered under my breath but loud enough for her to hear me as I sauntered off. Is that the thank you she should be giving me?
Camilla’s Pov.
"So, what do you think?" Àlvaro asked as we walked through the house that was now going to be my new house.
It was different and quirky to say the least. It's not exactly huge like the mansion I was coming out from but it's not exactly crammed at the same time either. But I already knew I'd be damn lonely here.
I turned to him and faked a smile. "It's great."
"Good." Àlvaro's eyes ran across my face slowly. "Listen Camilla, you might not believe this but this is what's best for you right now. You need to be in a place that's borderline untraceable. My security team will be here later to fit in new camera systems and I've given Santiago the task of going through potential bodyguards. Yes, and before you ask, I'm doing exactly the same for Chloe too although I doubt Sergei has her in his sights."
I had to blink a thousand times to register what he said. I stopped listening the moment he said, bodyguards. "Bodyguards?" I asked in confusion. "I thought I was just getting a bodyguard? Not bodyguards."
"Yes, bodyguards. I can't leave the task of protecting you to just one person." He looked at me with a raised brow.
"I don't need bodyguards. You said this place was secure enough and you're installing cameras already. I don't need more men living in here with me."
"Well, chica, in this part of the world, you can never be too careful. Also, you'll only have one body guard living with you. The rest would guard the compound and the premises."
I nodded and continued to fake a smile. "Of course."
