Chapter 50
As for those complaint letters, let someone else handle them.
But, Dorothy didn't expect, where did the complaint letters come from?
Dorothy fell into deep thought.
"Are you sure these things have nothing to do with your father?" Lawrence looked at Dorothy and coldly questioned.
"I don't understand what you're talking about." Dorothy shook her head, "My father, how could he do such a thing, there must be some misunderstanding."
"Misunderstanding?" Lawrence raised an eyebrow, "But I heard that the Carnegie Corporation is now at a dead end, and can only use random methods to try to save the Carnegie Corporation, Miss Carnegie, do you think your explanation will make people believe you?"
Dorothy was silent because Lawrence's words were very true.
However, she couldn't admit that this matter was done by her father, nor could she let Lawrence catch her father's weakness to blackmail him.
"Mr. Beaufort, please watch your words."
"What's wrong with my words?" Lawrence sneered, "Your father, doesn't he have some ulterior motives for the Carnegie Corporation? You should know better than me."
"Mr. Beaufort, you must be joking. How could my father covet the Carnegie Corporation's assets?"
"As the head of the Carnegie Corporation, would he really embezzle from his own company?"
Dorothy gritted her teeth and said.
"Really? I know some things." Lawrence looked at Dorothy with a mocking smile, "Your father has always wanted to take over the Carnegie Corporation."
"Nonsense!"
Dorothy stood up excitedly, "Mr. Beaufort, I'm telling you, this has nothing to do with my father. If you slander my father again, I'll sue you for defamation!"
"Defamation? Do you have evidence? Dorothy, don't forget, we still have some unsettled accounts between us." Lawrence squinted his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in his eyes, "I think you haven't forgotten, right?"
"Lawrence, this matter has nothing to do with you! I advise you, don't be so aggressive!"
Dorothy's chest heaved violently, as if a flame of anger was burning in her chest, making her whole heart ache.
"Aggressive, I wouldn't dare admit that." Lawrence said coldly, "Dorothy, you're a smart person, you should know my temper, you'd better cooperate with my investigation obediently, if you dare to play tricks, don't blame me for turning against you."
"Mr. Beaufort wants to punish me to warn others?" Dorothy sneered.
Lawrence was slightly stunned.
Dorothy continued, "Mr. Beaufort, you want to use such despicable means to threaten me, isn't that too much?"
"Despicable?" Lawrence sneered, "Your father has done so many heinous things, even if I'm despicable, so what?"
Lawrence's gaze was cold, his hand slammed heavily on the desk, making a dull sound.
"You!"
Lawrence leaned forward as he spoke, his sharp gaze fixed on Dorothy, "If it weren't for the friendship of the previous generation, I wouldn't give the Carnegie Corporation any face at all."
"If it weren't for the Percy Family, you would probably already be a bankrupt socialite by now."
Dorothy was so angry at Lawrence's words that her chest heaved violently. She bit her lip and looked at Lawrence defiantly, "So what?"
"Dorothy, don't think that just because you have a close relationship with Russell, you can do whatever you want." Lawrence's eyes shot out a sharp light, like two sharp blades, stabbing straight into her chest.
"I never thought of doing whatever I want, but it's not your place to lecture me!" Dorothy snorted coldly, "I don't care what your purpose is, if you want to go against the Carnegie Corporation, I'll accompany you to the end. My father is not a greedy person, I hope you don't wrong him!"
Lawrence laughed, a cold and cruel smile, "Dorothy, don't push me! In that case, I'll start investigating your father first!"
"Don't you dare!" Dorothy's eyes instantly turned red, she bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes, "Lawrence, no matter what my father did wrong, it has nothing to do with you! You have no right to go after my family!"
"Really? Then I want to see what shady dealings your father has done!"
Dorothy's pupils contracted sharply, a surge of anger rising in her heart. She looked up at Lawrence, "Try touching my father!"
Lawrence squinted his eyes, the corner of his eye catching a slender figure, his lips curling into a cold, bloodthirsty smile, "I really want to see if I will touch him!"
A flash of inspiration crossed Dorothy's mind, then dimmed again.
If Lawrence really touched her father, then she would have no room to resist.
"Dorothy, I'll give you a chance, leave the Carnegie Corporation immediately, otherwise, don't blame me for being rude!" Lawrence said harshly.
Hearing this, Dorothy slumped in her chair, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Her parents had done so much for her, she would never allow anyone to harm them.
Moreover, she didn't want her father to be further implicated.
"I don't want to delay either, after all, dragging this out is bad for both of us." A sly glint flashed in Lawrence's eyes, "However, if you really want to solve the problem quickly, I do have a way."
"What way?"
Dorothy's expression softened.
"We cooperate."
"Cooperate?" Dorothy's eyes lit up slightly, then returned to normal.
She looked at Lawrence, a hint of inquiry in her eyes, "How do we cooperate?"
"We work together to mess up this bidding, and then I'll fund you to get through the tough times." Lawrence said lightly.
Dorothy's eyes narrowed, "You mean?"
"Each takes what they need." Lawrence smiled faintly, "You should know, I never liked Russell from the beginning. Since the Percy Corporation is hosting the bidding, I naturally want to give him some trouble."
Dorothy was silent for a moment, then nodded, "Okay, as long as you can help me win this bid, I'm happy to see it happen. But since it involves Russell, we must agree that this matter must not be leaked."
"Don't worry about that."
"Okay." Dorothy nodded, "I'll leave now. If there's any news, I'll let you know."
After saying that, Dorothy turned and left the CEO's office.
Watching Dorothy's figure disappear, a mocking smile appeared on Lawrence's lips.
Heh, despicable?
He didn't think so.
If he wanted, he could play everyone.
Dorothy did surprise him a bit.
