Chapter 95 so impressed
The next few days passed in a blur of forced rest and growing unease. Idris was more protective than ever, barely letting me move without his help. Zara was my constant shadow, and even Orion—her usually brooding mate—checked in more than once.
But despite their reassurances, the feeling that something was coming never left me.
It happened on the fourth night.
I jolted awake, a sharp pain ripping through my abdomen. My breath hitched as another wave of pain followed, stronger than the last.
No. Not yet.
I reached for Idris, gripping his arm as a whimper escaped me. He was awake instantly, his golden eyes filled with concern.
"Raelynn?" His voice was hoarse with sleep, but the second he saw my face, he was fully alert.
Another pain. Stronger. My whole body tensed.
"Idris," I gasped. "Something's wrong."
His expression darkened with fear. He scrambled for his phone, dialing Dr. Tracy as he eased me onto my side, his hand never leaving mine.
"Hold on, baby," he murmured, his voice shaking. "She’s on her way."
The pain didn’t stop. It came in relentless waves, stealing my breath, making it impossible to think.
Then suddenly—warmth. Too much warmth.
My heart slammed against my ribs as I felt it.
Something was wrong.
"Idris," I sobbed. "I think—"
A wetness rushed between my thighs.
His face paled.
My water had broken.
Panic filled his eyes, but before he could say anything, the door burst open. Zara rushed in, Orion right behind her.
"What's happening?" Zara asked, her eyes darting between me and Idris.
"She’s in labor," Idris ground out, his body rigid with barely contained fear.
Orion was already pulling out his phone. "I'll get Dr. Tracy here now."
I clenched my teeth as another contraction tore through me.
It was too soon.
They weren’t ready.
I wasn’t ready.
But there was no stopping it now.
Something was coming.
And I prayed to the Moon Goddess that we would all make it through.
The world around me blurred as the pain came faster, sharper. My breathing was ragged, my body trembling. Idris held my hand so tightly I could feel the pressure in my bones, but I clung to him just as fiercely.
Zara knelt beside me, her face pale but determined. “Okay, Raelynn, deep breaths. You’ve got this.”
I wanted to believe her. I wanted to trust that everything would be fine. But it was too soon. Thirty-four weeks. That wasn’t enough time, was it?
Idris cupped my face, his golden eyes burning into mine. “Stay with me, baby. Focus on my voice.”
I nodded, swallowing back a sob.
Then Dr. Tracy burst into the room, her expression calm but urgent. “Everyone, step back! We need space.”
Idris refused to let go of me. “She’s early,” he ground out. “This isn’t normal.”
Dr. Tracy met his gaze evenly. “Alpha pups tend to come early, but we’ll do everything we can to make sure both Raelynn and the babies are safe.” She turned to me. “Raelynn, I need to check you, okay?”
I nodded shakily, barely registering the movement as another contraction wracked through me.
She worked quickly, her hands gentle but efficient as she examined me. Then she pulled back, her expression unreadable.
“Raelynn,” she said carefully, “you're already fully dilated.”
My stomach dropped.
No. It was too fast. This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen.
Idris stiffened beside me. “What does that mean?”
Dr. Tracy met his gaze. “It means the babies are coming now.”
A fresh wave of panic crashed over me. “I-I’m not ready!”
Idris wrapped his arms around me. “You are, Raelynn. You’re the strongest person I know. We’ve got you.”
Zara grabbed my free hand, squeezing tight. “You’re not alone, okay? I’m right here.”
Tears burned my eyes, but I nodded.
Dr. Tracy moved quickly, giving orders to Orion and the other pack members gathering outside the room. Supplies were brought in. Sheets, warm water, towels. Everything blurred together in a haze of pain and fear.
Then—pressure. Unbearable, undeniable pressure.
“I have to push,” I gasped.
Dr. Tracy nodded. “On the next contraction, give me a big push.”
Idris cradled me against him, his lips brushing my forehead. “You can do this, baby.”
I clenched my teeth as the next wave hit. Then I pushed.
Pain tore through me. My scream filled the room.
“Good, Raelynn, you’re doing great!” Dr. Tracy encouraged. “Again!”
I bore down, my body straining, my vision blurring. The world tilted, my heartbeat roaring in my ears.
Then—
A sharp cry.
A tiny, piercing wail that shattered the tension in the room.
I gasped, my body sagging in relief.
Idris’s grip on me tightened as Dr. Tracy carefully lifted a small, squirming form into her arms.
“It’s a boy,” she announced, her voice filled with warmth.
Idris let out a choked breath, his eyes locked onto our son.
A baby. Our baby.
Tears blurred my vision as Dr. Tracy quickly cleaned him, wrapping him in a soft blanket before placing him against my chest.
I stared down at the tiny bundle, my heart clenching. His skin was warm, his little fists curled tightly. He had Idris’s dark hair.
My son.
Idris let out a shaky laugh, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “He’s perfect, Raelynn.”
I was about to respond—when another contraction hit.
My body seized.
Dr. Tracy’s expression turned serious. “Raelynn, the second baby is coming fast. You need to push again.”
I barely had time to prepare before another wave of pain wracked through me.
The room faded.
All I knew was pain and the desperate drive to bring my second baby into the world.
I pushed again.
And again.
Then—another cry.
A softer one this time, but just as powerful.
Dr. Tracy smiled. “It’s a girl.”
Relief flooded through me as she gently placed my daughter in my arms beside her brother.
She was smaller, more delicate, but just as warm and perfect.
Idris let out a broken laugh, his fingers tracing over her tiny face. “Twins,” he murmured. “A boy and a girl.”
Tears streamed down my cheeks. “We did it,” I whispered.
Zara sniffled beside me. “Damn it, Raelynn, now I’m crying.”
Orion chuckled. “Even I’m impressed. You did good, Luna.”
I looked up at Idris, my heart swelling.
He kissed me, his lips lingering against mine. “I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you too,” I breathed.
As I cradled my babies in my arms, exhaustion finally pulled at me, but I didn’t care.
Because they were here.
And no matter what happened next, I would protect them with everything I had.
