Chapter 19: Commotion
Elena's voice quivered as she spoke, the urgency in her tone clear as day. Alpha Marcus, puzzled by her sudden request, gazed at her with a look of confusion etched across his face. "Can I have a moment with you?" she asked once more, her eyes pleading for his attention. After a slight hesitation, Marcus relented. "Fine," he replied, and together they made their way towards the privacy of a nearby corner.
As they reached the corner, Elena fixed her gaze on Alpha Marcus. Her heart was pounding in her chest, but she knew she had to ask him the question that had been bothering her for days.
"Alpha, can I ask you something?" she said hesitantly.
"Of course," replied Marcus, his expression curious.
"Why have you been eyeing someone else's wife?" Elena blurted, her eyes locking with his. Marcus stumbled back, seemingly taken aback by the question.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said, his voice laced with confusion. Elena continued to stare at him intensely, silently daring him to deny her accusation.
Marcus felt a wave of heat rise up within him, anger and frustration bubbling to the surface. He couldn't believe that Elena would even suggest something like that.
"Elena, I don't know where you're getting this from," he replied firmly, trying to steady his voice. "I'm not eyeing anyone's wife. You must be mistaken." Elena's face fell at his response, and Marcus sensed her disappointment.
"I'm sorry if I've upset you," he said gently, placing a comforting hand on her arm. "But I assure you, there is nothing going on between me and anyone else's spouse." Elena nodded, still looking unconvinced.
"Alright," she said softly. "I believe you." They both stood there in silence for a few moments before Marcus spoke again.
"Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?" he asked, his voice softening. Elena hesitated for a moment before responding. "No, that was all," she said. "Thanks for listening." Marcus nodded.
Alpha Marcus turned to Elena, a look of surprise on his face. "Don't you think Mia will make a great Luna to the pack?" he asked, his voice curious. Elena shook her head, her face scrunched up in disapproval.
"I knew it," Elena said with a chuckle. "She would make a good Luna, how?" Elena remained firm in her stance against Mia, her dislike for her palpable in her tone.
"I don't think so," she said firmly. "I don't know why, I just don't like her. Emma looks calmer." Marcus couldn't help but stifle a laugh at Elena's comment.
"Well, I suppose that's your opinion," he said smoothly. "But I still believe Mia would be a great asset to our leadership team."
Perhaps we can asked someone else," Marcus suggested, still keeping a neutral tone. Elena nodded, seemingly considering Marcus' suggestion.
"I suppose we could give it a try," she said slowly. "But don't expect me to change my mind about her." Marcus smirked slightly, knowing how stubborn Elena could be.
"I wouldn't dream of it," he replied with a joking tone. "But I do believe that Mia has a lot to offer the pack, and you shouldn't doubt her competency." Elena nodded once more, still looking unconvinced.
"Alpha Marcus paused in his tracks as Elena's voice cut through the silence.
"Wait a minute, why are you so interested in Mia? I hope it's not what I am thinking," she said, her tone laced with suspicion. Marcus furrowed his brow, wondering where her sudden mistrust had come from.
"What do you mean?" he replied evenly, trying to keep his voice neutral.
"I just think that she has potential and could be a valuable member to their pack's leadership team, that's all." Elena didn't seem convinced, her eyes narrowing as she spoke.
"I know the type of person you are, Marcus," she said sternly.
"Are you trying to initiate Mia, turn her against her pack and her husband?" Marcus felt a surge of frustration rise up within him. He knew that Elena could be stubborn at times, but he had never expected her to outright accuse him of such a thing.
"Elena, that is not what I am doing," he replied firmly.
"I'm simply trying to do what's best for our pack as a whole. As you said to me, yoi forced me here, it wasn't as if I came here on my own, I just admired how bold and fierce she's." Elena considered his response for a moment before nodding slowly.
"Okay," she said, still sounding unsure.
"Just be careful, Marcus." With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Marcus feeling frustrated.

The wedding and coronation is over and all the invitee have gone to their packs.
Mia kicked the door to Emma's room angrily, causing Emma to jump up in surprise from the bed.
"What happened?" Emma asked, sounding taken aback. Without hesitating, Mia strode into the apartment, her eyes searching for the alpha.
"Where's his Majesty?" she demanded, her voice laced with frustration. Emma raised an eyebrow, looking surprised.
"I thought we were both there when he said he was going to a meeting," she responded calmly, trying to keep her tone natural. Mia let out an exasperated sigh, running her hands through her hair.
"I know, I know, I just want to be sure he isn't in your room" she muttered, sounding defeated and Emma burst into laughter.
Mia moved closer to Emma, her frustration boiling over as she heard her co wife teasing words.
"Why did you agree to marry him when you knew you're the jealous type?" she asked jokingly. Mia's anger surged at the comment, and she lashed out, slapping Emma across the face. The room fell silent, tension filling the air between the two women.
Emma rubbed her cheek and Mia sighed, feeling regretful for her actions.
"I'm sorry," she said softly. "I shouldn't have done that." Emma stared back at her, still looking hurt. "We're not stranger's, Mia," she said pointedly. "We're co-wives. And we need to learn how to communicate and work together."
Emma looked taken aback as Mia's words hit him like a ton of bricks.
"Don't tell me that? I don't consider you as my husband's second mate," Mia flared up, her eyes burning with anger. Emma took a deep breath, trying to remain calm in the face of her outburst. "
Mia, I understand that this is not an easy thing for either of us," she said evenly. "But please remember that we are all in this together. We need to work together for the sake of our pack." Mia glared back at her, her anger still evident.
"I know that," she said through gritted teeth. "But it doesn't mean that I have to like it." Emma nodded, sensing her frustration.
