Chapter 33 HUNT YOU EVEN IN DEATH

Chapter 33 LOVE IT WHEN SHE LOSES HER BREATH!
AARON’S POV

Erica, the way she avoided the question about her family and past… it made me suspicious. Good thing I had Diego dig into her background.

Turns out she was the daughter of a Mafia boss. After her father’s death, her uncle used her like a punching bag. She couldn’t defend herself, took countless beatings. I even checked every picture of the old her: timid, weak, eyes full of fear.

But Erica now? She was Fierce, sharp. Almost devilish.

I shouldn’t be thinking about this. I needed to focus on Kalton that madman of a brother. Trafficking kids just to anger me… he knew I was against it years ago.

(FLASHBACK: FIVE YEARS AGO)

I barged into the training grounds. Kalton, as always, was showing off his abs so girls could crawl into his bed.

I didn’t care. I punched him straight in the face.

He staggered back, lips bleeding from the impact.

“Are you fvcking mad?!” he yelled.

I smirked. “Let those kids go.”

He smirked back, low, dangerous. His grin was so wide I wanted to break his jaw.

“Oh? Are you going to kill me? Hmm?” he mocked, turning to the girls who stared at me with fear and curiosity.

“I have a lot to do right now, so shoo,” he said, winking at a girl, she blushed instantly. I frowned, ran my hand through my hair, and pulled out my gun.

Gasps filled the room. The girls backed away instantly.

Kalton turned to me, eyes flashing mischief and caution.

“Aww, pretty. You can kill me. I’m all yours,” he said, taunting.

My blood boiled, my finger tightening on the trigger.

“Celina dying really made you ruthless, huh? Too bad she lost her virginity to someone else. Ahh, ooh, hmm—”

He mocked, kicking and laughing. Those words darkened my vision.

My hand flew to my pocket, gripping tightly.

“Fvck you,” I growled, ready to shoot...But then our bastard father walked in.

“Aaron! Hurting clan members is punishable by death!” he barked.

I scoffed and turned to him.

“Tell him to let the kids go tonight…” I lowered my gun and stared deep into Kalton’s eyes.

“If he doesn’t, prepare a funeral. You might find his dry corpse hanging in front of your house.”

I walked away.

Father snarled and sighed, but Kalton’s voice carried behind me:

“You gave him too much power. He even steps on you… When will you kill him? If you can’t—I will!”

“Shut it, imbecile,” Father snapped and stormed out.

I heard every bit of it.
(Flashback ends)

Kalton did let the kids go that day. He feared death back then, but now?

He’s grown wings. Sent men to attack me in my own house. Ordered Diva to poison me.

I licked my lips slowly, then my gaze landed on Erica.

“I should go to sleep. I’m tired,” she said, walking off. She was lying. I heard it in her voice.

“Miss doesn’t seem okay,” Ruby whispered with her doe eyes. My cold heart softened a bit. A girl that young, forced to kill… Kalton truly deserved death.

“Wait here. Don’t open the door for anyone,” I told Ruby and headed to the stairs.

Erica had shut her door.

So I went to the opposite room, climbed out the window, and crossed over to hers. One slip and I’d fall to my death, didn’t matter.

Once inside, I found Erica sitting on the floor, crying silently.

A small grin tugged at my lips.

When she noticed me, she glared. Somehow… I liked that. I liked provoking her, making her rant, making her lose her temper. She only acted like that with me. I love making her suffer!

“Is this my thank you, little bee?” I asked.

She stood up instantly.

“Who told you to come into my room?! Did I give you permission?” she yelled.

I only smirked, staring at her lips. Yes. She should yell more. Lose her breath.
I enjoyed it too much.

“Hey! I’m talking to you!” she shouted.

I leaned back on her bed.

“Hm. Those yells would sound nice as moans,” I said shamelessly.

She froze, looking away quickly.

“Is this how you comfort someone?” she scoffed, brushing hair behind her ear.

“I wasn’t crying. I was practicing fake tears!”

I laughed, mocking.

“Hm.”

I scanned the room. I’d seen her here many times.....half dressed, changing, unaware I was watching. Call me a stalker? No. Something sexier.

“Come here,” I commanded, tapping the bed.

She hesitated, but after my next words....

“If you keep standing, I might be tempted… hmm, what should I do?”

....she walked over and sat reluctantly.

“What?” she asked.

My grin faded and my voice deepened.

“Let’s catch my brother.”

She turned to me, determination burning in her eyes.

“I get to stab him,” she said sharply.

I froze. Damn—straight to the point.

“You’re not killing anyone, you don't even know how to kill” I coaxed.

Erica laughed darkly. “I’m more of a psycho than you think.”

“Hm. Prove it,” I said, leaning closer.

She didn’t back off....she leaned closer too. My brow twitched.

“You’re getting bolder. Be warned, it might hurt you,” I warned.

She only smiled and her fingers slid into my hair.

My eyes darkened.

I hated strangers touching my hair. Normally, I would break their hand, but she kept rubbing gently…

And somehow…the tension in my body eased. Sleep began creeping in.

“Your hair is so soft. What shampoo do you use? You must tell me,” she said lightly.

She was acting more and more like Celina. Celina also asked about my shampoo. Next day she used the same brand.

My gaze fixed on Erica’s smile.

“You’re so grumpy. Let me take care of you,” she said softly.

My lashes fluttered closed for a second. Darkness tugged at the edges of my vision.

Did she drug me? Was she trying to make me lower my guard and then strike?

My hand went to my gun....

THUD.

Both of us jumped.

Erica exhaled sharply, walked to a corner, and picked up a metal bat.

“One bullet and you’re down. That bat won’t protect you,” I warned.

She smirked.

“If I was that easy to kill, wouldn’t my enemies have succeeded already?”

She walked to the door, opening it boldly.

I followed, gun in hand. Ruby pointed to the kitchen with wide eyes.

I headed there silently. The moment I stepped in....

Creek.

A frying pan flew at my face. I dodged and grabbed the woman’s wrist instantly.

“Aah! Wait!” she screamed, collapsing to her knees.

I pressed my gun to her forehead.

“Who are you?” I growled.

“I—I—”

My finger tightened...“Wait!” Erica yelled from behind.

I loosened my grip.

Erica stepped forward, shock freezing her expression.

“Nine?… What are you doing here?”
