Chapter 220: Sentience BioTech
Brandon listened, nodded, and turned to Luke.
"The Robinson Group has no objections."
Luke nodded. "Then let's continue our pleasant cooperation."
The rest of the discussion went much more smoothly, covering the direction of technical iterations, cost control, and related market strategies.
They went through each item one by one, with few disagreements.
The meeting ended half an hour earlier than scheduled.
After the meeting, Evelyn and Brandon went downstairs together.
As soon as they reached the first floor, she saw Maggie walking toward them.
Maggie naturally took Luke's arm.
She looked up and said something to him.
Luke looked down listening, his face expressionless, neither refusing nor responding.
The engineers behind them came out of the elevator one after another. Someone saw this scene and quietly remarked, "Mr. Miller and Ms. Smith's relationship is as good as ever."
There was a hint of envy in the tone.
Someone nearby chimed in, "Isn't it though? After all these years, their feelings are still so strong."
Evelyn stood next to Brandon, listening to these words, her face showing no expression.
She walked past them as if she hadn't seen anything.
Maggie's gaze followed Evelyn's retreating figure, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned.
She already knew that this morning Luke and Evelyn had gone to court to complete the application for the Divorce Certificate.
In another two to three weeks, the Divorce Certificate would be mailed to each of them.
By then, Luke would be legally single.
The curve of her mouth grew wider, and her grip on Luke's arm tightened a bit.
She turned her head, wanting to see Luke's reaction.
But she found that Luke wasn't looking at her at all.
His gaze fell in the direction Evelyn had left, lost in thought for a long time.
The smile on Maggie's face instantly froze.
People came and went in the lobby, and no one noticed her unusual expression.
For the next period of time, Evelyn threw herself completely into her work.
Soon, OmniFront Labs' CGT project achieved a major breakthrough.
When Evelyn received the latest treatment report, she was reviewing documents in her office.
Qiana knocked and came in, handing her the report, her fingers trembling slightly.
Her voice carried barely suppressed excitement. "Ms. Thomas, the data is out. The results are even better than we expected."
Evelyn took it and flipped through page by page.
When she reached the last page, she closed the report and looked up. "Let's prepare for a press conference."
The news spread quickly.
The press conference was set for three days later, at the Oceancrest City International Conference Center.
Evelyn had Qiana draft an invitation list covering all hospitals and biotech companies in Eldoria.
Qiana hesitated a bit. "Won't this be too high-profile?"
Evelyn smiled. "We're not showing off, we're looking for partners. Being a bit more high-profile doesn't matter."
On the day of the press conference, Evelyn stood on stage, introducing OmniFront Labs' new project to the audience below.
Behind her, the large screen displayed treatment data and charts from the CGT project.
"OmniFront Labs is officially establishing a subsidiary—Sentience BioTech, specializing in CGT research and treatment. We welcome all hospitals in Eldoria to partner with Sentience BioTech."
She pressed the remote control, and groups of data immediately appeared on the big screen.
"This is the treatment data we've obtained in clinical trials. After cancer patients received CGT treatment, the tumor shrinkage rate, survival period extension, and quality of life improvement—every indicator far exceeds traditional therapies."
The reporters below rapidly pressed their shutters, flashbulbs crackling continuously.
After Evelyn finished speaking, warm applause erupted from the audience.
During the Q&A session, reporters eagerly raised their hands, questions coming one after another.
Evelyn answered them all, calm and composed.
That evening's news was everywhere.
News of Sentience BioTech's establishment dominated the headlines of major financial media outlets; the CGT technological breakthrough was repeatedly mentioned, and Evelyn's photo appeared on the homepage of every platform.
The Nguyen family members sat around the living room watching the news.
Hannah paused, her eyes fixed on Evelyn's face on the TV screen.
"When did she secretly work on this CGT thing? How come there was no word about it?"
Benjamin frowned and looked at Maggie. "Maggie, didn't you know about this? Evelyn's press conference was so sudden, there should have been some news beforehand. Even if others didn't know, Mr. Miller should have known."
Maggie shook her head, her tone carrying a hint of disappointment. "He never mentioned this to me. Maybe... he didn't know either."
Hannah's tone was very jealous.
"Evelyn is really scheming, her security measures are so tight. Keeping something like this completely secret, really shocking all the biotech companies."
Then she sighed again. "Everyone knows the CGT project has potential. If done well, it's a great thing that benefits millions, and the profits are unimaginable. Who would have thought she'd get there first."
Eleanor pursed her lips, dissatisfied. "This definitely isn't Evelyn's achievement alone. Brandon and Tyler must be helping behind the scenes, otherwise how could her company develop so well in such a short time? Just by herself? Who would believe that!"
Hannah chimed in, her tone displeased. "Evelyn is so lucky. After leaving Luke, she could still meet someone like Brandon. All the good things happen to her."
She turned her head to look at Maggie, raising her voice. "Maggie, you and Mr. Miller should move things forward."
"You should get married sooner, so Evelyn doesn't get the upper hand. You're the future mistress of the Miller family, you can't let her outdo you."
Maggie sat on the sofa, holding a water glass, her fingers tightening slightly, but she didn't drink.
She was silent for a few seconds, her voice a bit dry. "I... have never discussed this with Luke, it's hard to bring it up suddenly."
Benjamin sighed, his tone softening. "Maggie, don't rush. These things can't be rushed. Care more for Mr. Miller, let him see who truly loves him, and over time, he'll naturally marry you."
He paused. "And with Andy, build a good relationship with him too. When you get married in the future, if the child doesn't reject you, life will be much easier."
Maggie looked up, a hint of confidence appearing on her face. "That's no problem. With Andy, I'm still confident."
That afternoon, Maggie returned to BlueSky Biotech.
Partners were still waiting, and she had to negotiate next quarter's contracts.
She walked into her office, and her assistant was already waiting at the door, holding a report with a serious expression.
Maggie took the report, and her brow furrowed before she'd flipped through a few pages.
The assistant said, "Ms. Smith, the company's losses have been quite severe recently, and there's no cash flow left in the accounts. Next month's salaries and supplier payments are all awaiting payment. What do you think... we should do?"
Maggie's fingers gripping the report tightened forcefully, her knuckles turning white.
She instinctively thought of Luke.
