Chapter 192 Chapter 192
The big doors of the ballroom opened slowly, and for a moment, the whole place went silent. Every head turned toward the entrance as Adrian walked in, holding Savannah’s hand.
She looked breathtaking — her silver gown glittered under the lights, her smooth skin glowing, and her gentle smile radiating pure peace. Adrian looked proud beside her, his dark tux fitting perfectly, his eyes filled with love and pride.
But what drew even more attention was the little boy holding Savannah’s other hand — Liam. Dressed neatly in a tiny black suit and bow tie, he looked like a miniature version of his father. His bright smile melted everyone’s heart instantly.
Whispers filled the room.
“Wow, that must be Mrs. Adrian.”
“She’s so beautiful.”
“And their son—he’s adorable!”
Savannah blushed as she noticed the stares. Adrian leaned closer and whispered with a playful grin, “Ignore them, sweetheart. They just realized how lucky I am.”
She chuckled softly. “You’re impossible.”
They walked gracefully toward their table, Liam waving and smiling at everyone. Cameras clicked. People smiled warmly. Adrian helped Savannah sit, then sat beside her, his hand never leaving hers.
Across the room, Vanessa froze the second she saw Savannah. Her drink nearly slipped from her hand. “Oh my God,” she muttered under her breath. “She’s alive.”
Her heart pounded. She hadn’t seen Savannah in years. The last time, things had ended badly between them — jealousy, lies, and betrayal had destroyed their friendship. And now, here Savannah was, alive, happy, and glowing like never before.
Vanessa’s throat tightened. She didn’t know whether to smile or hide. She forced herself to stay calm, her mind racing.
Beside her, Cassandra clenched her jaw. Her fake smile couldn’t hide the jealousy burning inside her. Everyone’s eyes were on Savannah — not her. She had spent hours picking her dress, her jewelry, her makeup, but none of that mattered now.
Savannah had stolen the room’s attention effortlessly.
Cassandra’s nails dug into her palm under the table. “So this is the woman everyone is talking about,” she whispered coldly. “Let’s see how long she shines.”
Vanessa turned to her and whispered softly, “Cassandra, please don’t start. It’s a public event. People are watching.”
“I’m fine,” Cassandra replied sharply, forcing a smile, though her eyes still burned with envy.
Nathaniel sat quietly beside them, his eyes fixed on Savannah. His heart thudded painfully. Memories he’d buried deep started flooding back — her laughter, her tears, the way she used to look at him with love.
And now she was right there — more beautiful than ever — sitting beside another man.
When his gaze shifted to Liam, his breath caught. Something about the boy’s eyes, his smile, even his dimple felt oddly familiar. Nathaniel swallowed hard, trying to ignore the strange ache in his chest.
Savannah noticed his stare. For a brief second, their eyes met, and she froze. Her hands trembled slightly before she quickly looked away, pretending to adjust Liam’s little bow tie.
Adrian noticed. He leaned close and whispered gently, “You okay, sweetheart?”
Savannah nodded with a faint smile. “Yes, I’m fine.”
“Good,” Adrian said softly, kissing the back of her hand. “Don’t let the past ruin this moment. You’re my future now.”
Her heart melted at his words. She smiled and whispered, “I know.”
The host’s voice echoed through the hall as he welcomed everyone again, but many guests were still staring at Adrian’s family — admiring, whispering, smiling.
Across the table, Cassandra’s jealousy grew thicker. Her eyes followed Savannah every move. Every smile Savannah shared with Adrian stabbed deeper into her pride.
“She thinks she’s perfect,” Cassandra muttered under her breath.
Vanessa sighed quietly. “Maybe you should stop comparing yourself to her. Look how happy she looks, Cass. That’s peace — something we both need.”
Cassandra’s glare shot like ice. “You don’t understand, Vanessa. She took everything that was meant for me — the attention, the admiration, the respect. I can’t just sit and watch her shine.”
Vanessa frowned but said nothing more. She knew Cassandra’s temper.
Meanwhile, Savannah tried to focus on the event, helping Liam with his juice as Adrian chatted with another businessman. Liam giggled happily, showing his small teeth.
“Mommy, that man keeps looking at me,” Liam whispered, pointing at Nathaniel.
Savannah froze slightly but forced a smile. “Don’t worry about him, baby.”
Adrian noticed the direction Liam was pointing and gently turned Savannah’s face back toward him. “Let him look all he wants,” he whispered, his tone firm yet calm. “You belong right here — with us.”
Savannah smiled weakly and nodded.
The lights dimmed slightly as dinner was served, laughter filled the air, and soft music played in the background. But beneath the glamour and elegance, the tension between the past and the present was thick — invisible but heavy.
Adrian didn’t notice it yet, but this dinner wasn’t just a celebration.
It was the beginning of something bigger — something none of them saw coming.
And as Savannah leaned close to fix Liam’s napkin, Cassandra’s cold eyes followed her every move, a dark thought growing quietly inside her.
