Chapter 113 Chapter 113
The next morning was bright and calm. Birds sang outside the window, and the sweet smell of flowers filled the house. Savannah woke up slowly and stretched her arms. Adrian’s side of the bed was empty, and she sighed softly.
She missed him already.
After dressing up, she went to check on baby Liam. The little boy was awake, kicking his small legs and smiling. Savannah lifted him gently and kissed his forehead.
“Good morning, my little sunshine,” she whispered. “Daddy will call us soon.”
She took him downstairs for breakfast. Aunty Lisa was already there, talking and laughing with the maids as usual.
“Ah, my dear Savannah!” Aunty Lisa said loudly. “You look more beautiful every day. This motherhood is really shining on you!”
Savannah smiled shyly. “Good morning, aunty.”
They ate breakfast together, talking about little things. After that, Aunty Lisa said she wanted to visit her friend down the street.
“Will you be fine alone?” she asked.
“Yes, aunty,” Savannah said. “I’ll be with Liam.”
“Okay, don’t forget to eat lunch,” Aunty Lisa said as she left with her bag swinging.
The house became quiet again. Savannah played with Liam for a while, then put him to sleep in his cradle. She walked around the house, checking flowers, touching the furniture, just trying to pass time.
Around noon, she heard a knock at the gate. One of the maids ran to open it.
A few seconds later, the maid came rushing to her. “Ma’am, someone is here to see Mr. Adrian.”
Savannah turned, surprised. “To see Adrian? Who?”
The maid looked unsure. “She said her name is Clara.”
Savannah frowned a bit. “Clara?”
“Yes, ma’am. She said she’s an old friend of Mr. Adrian.”
Savannah thought for a moment, then nodded. “Okay, let her in.”
She didn’t think much of it. Adrian had many friends. Maybe it was someone from work.
But when the visitor walked into the living room, Savannah froze. The woman was tall, elegant, and very beautiful — with long straight hair, high heels, and a confident smile. She looked more like a model than a regular friend.
“Good afternoon,” Savannah greeted politely.
Clara looked at her slowly from head to toe. “You must be Savannah,” she said with a half-smile.
“Yes,” Savannah replied, trying to sound calm. “And you are?”
“I’m Clara,” the woman said proudly. “Adrian’s ex.”
Savannah’s heart skipped a beat. “Oh…”
Clara looked around the living room, touching the flowers on the table. “Nice place,” she said. “So he finally moved on.”
Savannah didn’t know what to say. Her hands felt cold, but she tried to stay polite. “Would you like to sit?”
Clara smiled. “Of course.” She sat down on the big sofa like she owned it. “Adrian really has good taste. Even his wife looks soft and gentle.”
Savannah forced a small smile. “Thank you.”
Clara crossed her legs and leaned back. “You know, we were together for three years. He used to love me so much. I was even the one who helped him start his company.”
Savannah blinked. “Oh… really?”
“Yes,” Clara said, brushing her hair proudly. “But we had some misunderstandings. Still, I never thought he would get married so fast. I just came to see how he’s doing.”
Savannah nodded quietly. “He’s fine.”
“Is he home?” Clara asked quickly.
“No,” Savannah replied. “He traveled for work.”
Clara smiled slowly. “Oh… so you’re here alone?”
Savannah hesitated. “I’m with my aunty-in-law, and the maids.”
Clara chuckled softly. “I see. You must trust Adrian a lot. He’s charming, isn’t he?”
Savannah looked down. “Yes, he is.”
Clara leaned closer, her eyes sharp. “Just be careful, dear. Adrian is a good man, but men like him don’t always stay good forever. You never know when their heart changes.”
Savannah looked up, surprised. “I don’t understand.”
Clara smiled faintly. “You will, someday.”
Before Savannah could say anything else, baby Liam’s cry echoed from upstairs. Savannah stood up quickly. “Excuse me, I need to check on my baby.”
Clara nodded slowly, her eyes following Savannah.
When Savannah came back with Liam in her arms, Clara was still sitting there, smiling. “So, he’s your baby?” she asked.
Savannah nodded proudly. “Yes. His name is Liam.”
“He’s cute,” Clara said softly. “He looks like Adrian.”
“Thank you.”
Clara stood up, holding her purse. “Well, I’ll be going now. Tell Adrian I stopped by.”
“I will,” Savannah said, still holding Liam close.
Clara walked slowly to the door, then turned back with a small smirk. “You’re lucky, Savannah. Many women would give anything to be in your place.”
Savannah just smiled weakly. “Good day, Clara.”
When the door finally closed, Savannah sighed deeply. Her hands were shaking a little. She sat down, hugging Liam tightly.
“Don’t worry, my baby,” she whispered softly. “Daddy loves us. No one can change that.”
Later that evening, Aunty Lisa returned and immediately noticed Savannah’s quiet face.
“What happened, my dear?” she asked. “You look like you saw a ghost.”
Savannah hesitated. “A woman came to visit. Her name is Clara. She said she’s Adrian’s ex.”
Aunty Lisa’s eyes widened. “Eh?! What did she want?”
“She just came to talk,” Savannah said slowly. “But her words made me feel… strange.”
Aunty Lisa waved her hand. “My dear, ignore her! These old lovers, they always come back to cause trouble. Don’t let her spoil your peace.”
Savannah nodded slowly. “I’ll try.”
That night, when Adrian called, she didn’t tell him about Clara. She just wanted him to focus on his trip. But after the call, she sat in bed, thinking.
She wasn’t jealous, not exactly. She just felt something heavy in her heart — fear, maybe. Fear of losing what she finally found.
She looked at baby Liam sleeping peacefully beside her and smiled softly. “As long as we have each other, we’ll be fine,” she whispered.
Outside, the moonlight filled the room, quiet and calm. But deep down, Savannah knew Clara’s visit wasn’t just a normal one. Something told her it was only the beginning.
