Chapter 77
You go by yourself! Let me out!”
She pressed against the door.
“Lucille!”
Cedrick thought she might jump, slammed the brakes.
Seeing her reach for the door handle, he leaned over and pinned her hand. “Lucille, why are you so guarded against me?
Do you still not trust me?”
Lucille looked at him, scoffed. “You think I can still trust you?”
She almost lost her life at his company!
Trust him?
Cedrick’s gaze faltered slightly, his brows knitted into a deep furrow. “Lucille, I know what you’re thinking right now. But no matter how much of a bastard I am, I’d never harm you.”
So… he knew he was a bastard too…
In the cramped car interior, his hand pressed firmly over hers, his entire body pinning her down. Her every breath filled with his scent.
She resisted fiercely, hated the unfamiliar shampoo smell from his hair.
She held her breath, shoved hard against him with her left hand.
He suddenly stilled, his eyes fixed on her.
“Cedrick, you—‘
Before she finished, his face dipped down. Without warning, his lips landed on her cheek- only because she sensed his approach and jerked away, narrowly avoiding his kiss on her mouth.

“Cedrick, stop this madness!”
She felt him press closer, her right hand yanked back. She was completely trapped against the passenger seat.
“I’m not mad.”
He murmured, his lips brushing her neck. “Lucille, we’ve been married five years. Isn’t it time… for a child?”
Lucille froze.
The man who hadn’t touched her in five years, suddenly talking about a child?
She didn’t dare imagine how overjoyed she’d have been if he’d said this half a month ago- probably moved to tears.
Too bad. Too late.
Thankfully, so late.
“Cedrick, I don’t want a child. Maricela tal rape
She said coldly. “You’d better stop.”
is still rape, ”
He didn’t stop. Kissed her cheek again. But didn’t go further, instead sliding his lips to her ear. “Of course I won’t continue here. Our child… wouldn’t arrive in a car, would they?”
As he spoke, the air thickened with his shampoo scent, suddenly feeling suffocating, unbearable.
She wrenched her face away, held her breath, snapped, “Cedrick!
Don’t touch me with your filthy hands!
Don’t bring your filthy mouth so close to me!”
She expected anger, but he only pressed closer, even pinched her earlobe. “Angry?
Jealous?
Don’t tell me you thought I was at Maricela ‘s last night?”
He suddenly chuckled softly, stepping back into the driver’s seat. “I stayed at a hotel last night. Don’t overthink it.”

Lucille rolled down the window as fresh air rushed in. She took several deep breaths, the suffocating pressure in her chest gradually lifting while her mind cleared.
What was Cedrick implying?
Did he still believe this was about jealousy?
Hah!
She couldn’t be bothered to explain anymore–he’d never believe her anyway. He remained utterly convinced she remained hopelessly in love with him, so infatuated that no matter how deeply he hurt her, she’d still feel jealousy.
Cedrick…
In half a month-
then you’ll see
whether I’ll ever feel jealousy for you again.
Cedrick started driving again, but still not toward Grandma’s house.
“I’m taking you to see a house.”
He sighed softly. “That’s why I needed your ID yesterday–to buy you a place.”
Lucille frowned. “Buy a house?”
“Didn’t your parents want to buy one for Tristen Radford’s wedding?”
he said.
“They contacted you again?”
Lucille asked warily.
Cedrick stayed silent.
Silence meant yes.
“When?
How come I didn’t know?”

He glanced at her, inexplicable amusement in his eyes. “You’re so fierce–they wouldn’t dare tell you.”
Lucille had no idea why he wore that half–smile, but anger surged through her. Her family always dragged her down!
