Robert breathed a sigh of relief. He hoped they wouldn’t ask him about his girls again.
The Artisanal Confectionery was located in a Historic Alley in Seaston, which was now mostly filled with boutiques and custom shops. There were shops for bespoke suits, little black dresses, and traditional robes, as well as custom–made shoes, jewelry, Artisanal Silk Embroidery, and Kesi Silk Tapestry fabrics. It was a dazzling display, and many of the shops had plaques indicating their status as part of the cultural heritage.
None of them were cheap.
Since they were already there, Lucille decided to take her grandma for a walk around.
She wanted to get a gift for her aunt too. Since her aunt was in the fashion industry, she thought she might like things like Artisanal Silk Embroidery, Kesi Silk Tapestry fabrics, or traditional
garments.
So, they went from one shop to the next.
When they came to a traditional formalwear shop, she guided her grandma inside without a second thought.
An aunt who was a fashion designer would surely be interested in traditional formalwear.
But she never, ever expected to run into Cedrick in the formalwear shop.
He was sitting on a wooden sofa in the shop, looking listless and staring into space.
She found it incredibly annoying. She had been running into Cedrick far too often these past few days!
Cedrick, of course, saw them too. His expression changed instantly, and he shot a nervous glance at the fitting room. If there had been any way to hide, Lucille was certain he would have already done so.
But right now, he could only force himself to come forward, his eyes darting away. He called out, “Grandma,” and then, in a barely audible voice, he called out, “Lucille.”
Grandma nodded, not planning to say much to him, and motioned to Lucille, “Let’s go.”
Lucille was planning to leave too. In an awkward encounter like this, it was best to act like

But before she could turn, a delicate, sweet voice rang out, “Cedrick, what do you think of this one”
Isn’t the color a bit too dark?
I’d prefer something redder.”
Maricela came out of the fitting room, with two salesclerks beside her, adjusting her dress.
The reason two clerks were busy was because she was wearing an ancient ceremonial wedding gown, which was very complex with many layers inside and out.
Cedrick immediately panicked, instinctively trying to block Lucille’s line of sight.
But how could he possibly block it?
Never mind that he couldn’t block her; Maricela had no intention of being blocked by him!
The moment Maricela saw Lucille, she immediately rushed to the front, twirling in front of Cedrick, her voice dripping with even more sweetness, “Cedrick, help me take a look. This one is mostly black, but I want a red one…”
A salesclerk explained from the side, “The ancient ceremonial style honors black. And this isn’t completely black; it’s technically a ceremonial dark hue. The ceremonial dark hue was a noble color during the Classical Antiquity, representing the color of heaven and earth…”
“But for a wedding, it’s still better to wear red…” Maricela said, sounding aggrieved.
So, they were getting married?
When Maricela said the word “married,” she looked at Lucille, her eyes full of provocation and triumph.
Cedrick clearly flinched, his gaze locked on Lucille. “Lucille…”
Lucille smiled. “Getting married, huh? Congratulations. I wonder what the date is?”
Cedrick’s face was pale. “No, Lucille, listen to me…‘
“!
Lucille chuckled. “Why are you so nervous, Cedrick?
Are you worried about our agreement?”
“What agreement?”

Maricela walked over, dragging her long gown.
“Oh.”

Lucille smiled. “It’s an agreement between Cedrick and me. Why don’t you ask him.”
After speaking, she looked at Cedrick again. “Cedrick, you’re a bit too cager. Couldn’t you at least wait until we get our divorce certificate?”
