Chapter 335
“Wait for me?
Is there anything left for us to talk about?”
“Well…” Cedrick’s eyes shifted. “About the terms of the divorce… I… have some objections.”
Lucille laughed in anger. “Cedrick, be a man!
Why are you being so indecisive? Can’t you just be straightforward?”
“I’m sorry, Lucille. Regarding the division of assets, I have a different opinion.”
“On that issue, didn’t my brother send a lawyer?
Go talk to the lawyer.”
Lucille sneered. “Cedrick, you really make me overestimate you. I thought not taking half of your assets was the greatest mercy I could show for the twelve years we knew each other and the five years we were married,”
“Lucille…”
“Don’t say
another word. All my responses and opinions on this topic will be made clear to my lawyer. If you have a problem, talk to the lawyer. Don’t come looking for me again. If you still haven’t made up your mind by the end of the Cooling–off Period, then I’ll see you in court. I’ll take whatever the judge awards me, no objections.”
Lucille didn’t want to waste another word. She pushed him aside and headed for the treatment
room.
The acupuncture and physical therapy took up the entire morning.
Throughout that morning, Cedrick didn’t leave. Ile even waited outside the physical therapy room the entire time she was having her session.
This time, Mary had adjusted her physical therapy regimen again. For Lucille, every session felt like having her bones reshaped and reborn. It was excruciating, and she was always exhausted
afterward,
But she didn’t tell Robert or her grandmother about this, afraid it would make them worry.

So, her legs were still weak when she walked out of the rehab room after changing. The rehab nurse opened the door, and Cedrick was standing right there. Annoyed, she tried to rush past and nearly fell.
Cedrick quickly steadied her, but she recoiled as if she’d touched something filthy.
Something visibly died in Cedrick’s eyes. He forced a smile, “I can’t even touch you?”
Lucille steadied herself, her gaze extremely cold. “Cedrick, we’ve known each other for twelve years. You probably think I’m full of flaws. I forgot to tell you I have one more—I’m a germaphobe.”
Cedrick’s face turned even more ashen. “Are you saying… you think I’m dirty?”
“Really?
Did I remember it wrong?”
David frowned, looking confused. “No way…”
“Let me help you look.”
Harlan searched through David and Zoe’s chat history and sure enough, found a screenshot. He quickly deleted it, then handed the phone back to David. “See? It’s really not there.”
David: ?
?
?
But since Harlan said so, he must have his reasons. It was probably for Cedrick’s sake. Well, if it’s not there, it’s not there…
“Maybe I remembered it wrong…” David mumbled, holding his phone.
Cedrick didn’t listen to their muttering anymore and got up to leave.
“Where are you going?”
Harlan asked him.
Cedrick didn’t know where to go either.
He admitted that in the past five years, he hadn’t been that eager to go home.

Mainly, right after they got married, he was afraid to go home and face Lucille, afraid to face Lucille’s overwhelming love, and even more afraid of having to face her injured foot.
Guilt and remorse, like a giant boulder, weighed on his heart, so much so that he couldn’t even be intimate with her. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, but whenever he saw her foot, he would be completely overwhelmed by this sense of guilt and couldn’t go through with it.
And this kind of thing became a vicious cycle. The more psychological pressure he felt, the less he was able to perform, and the less he was able to perform, the more pressure he felt…
He even saw a therapist for it, but it didn’t help much.
