Lucille smiled. “By the way, my brother said if you’re interested, you can come to the party tonight too. After all, it’s the same event, we should celebrate together!”
Cedrick:
What kind of unbelievably ridiculous thing was this?
Her brother was personally throwing a banquet to celebrate his sister’s divorce?
“Are you really this happy that we’re getting divorced?”
Cedrick still couldn’t understand. “Lucille, you used to love me so much. Why now…”
“Stop!”
Lucille cut him off. “Can you please not bring up the skeleton in my closet anymore?”
“Skeleton in the closet?”
Cedrick didn’t understand what the phrase meant.
“Yes!
Being blind enough to have liked you is the biggest skeleton in my closet!”
After Lucille finished speaking, the elevator doors opened, and she walked out immediately, no longer wanting to reminisce about the past with Cedrick.
She didn’t know what their past meant to Cedrick, but for her, it was nothing but heartache.
Lucille went straight to the conference room.
Inside, several board members were already seated. They were very surprised to see her, since even though she was a shareholder, she had never attended a board meeting.
When the meeting started, Cedrick just rambled on, never getting to the main point.
Lucille couldn’t take it anymore and cut in, “I’ll just say it.
The reason I’m here at this meeting today is because Cedrick and I are divorced. So, we need to process a change in equity. The shares I hold will be transferred to Cedrick. Are there any

Transferring shares?
Damn, Lucille has only come to the company for two meetings: once to transfer shares for the marriage, and once to transfer them for the divorce.
But the word “divorce” still shocked the shareholders.
Actually, they had watched the company’s stock price plummet, and they were also aware of the controversy from the trending topics list.
One shareholder couldn’t help but suggest, “Cedrick, getting divorced at a critical time like this… shouldn’t you be a bit more cautious?”
“This decision was made after careful consideration.”
Lucille said seriously.
“Cedrick.”
The shareholder spoke again, “The company’s stock is so volatile, and it’s largely due to the recent public opinion. Cedrick and Lucille, have you considered… even though you’re divorced, making a joint public appearance to issue a statement? You could even just put on an act, show the investors you’re on good terms, that there are no scandals, and that it’s all just rumors spread by clickbait social media accounts?”
Lucille didn’t speak, but looked at Cedrick. The meaning in her eyes couldn’t have been clearer.
Cedrick found it a little hard to face Lucille’s gaze, so he looked away. “That won’t be necessary.”

His voice was hoarse when he spoke.
“Cedrick…” the shareholder persisted, unwilling to give up.
Cedrick waved his hand dismissively. “My marriage is a private matter between Lucille and me. Even if the public opinion caused by this private matter led to stock fluctuations, that’s my problem. It has nothing to do with Lucille. She’s a victim in this incident too.
I know I’ve let everyone down by causing the company to suffer losses due to my personal affairs. But all I can do is to steer the company in the right direction for its future development and keep working hard, not use emotional blackmail under the guise of morality against a victim.”
Harlan also said, “Aren’t ups and downs normal in business?

Our company has been through storms to get here. Are we really going to be afraid of a little turbulence?
We don’t need to rely on a woman, do we?”
Although David was a bit unsettled by the recent turmoil, he was definitely on his brothers‘ side.
Since the three leaders had spoken, the shareholders had nothing more to say.
The share transfer was approved smoothly by the board.
There was just some paperwork left to handle.
