Chapter 315
“Fine, I’ll tell you why I didn’t say anything when I got those messages. Because I had no intention of saying anything anymore. I just wanted to keep them as evidence for the divorce proceedings. If it weren’t for last night, if you hadn’t been willing to come to City Hall, the place you would have seen these messages would have been in court.”
“Is there really no turning back?”
Cedrick stood still, his eyes pleading. “That photo you received, I wasn’t actually in it. I was asleep. It was just Mari staging it to make you angry…”
“So what?”
11
Lucille looked at him. “Does that mean you two have never slept together?”
Cedrick suddenly remembered the night he got drunk with Harlan at Maricela’s house, and his face went deathly pale.
Seeing his expression, Lucille knew the answer. She scoffed, “You’re disgusting, Cedrick!”
After saying that, she continued walking toward the main gate.
Cedrick watched her back. She was walking so fast that her steps were uneven and unsteady, and a sharp pain stung his eyes.
“Let’s go, Cedrick.”
Robert stood beside him, his face as cold as ice.
He couldn’t believe his sister had been wronged so much by Cedrick!
Cedrick knew this divorce was inevitable…
He finally lowered his head and followed Lucille inside with Robert.
The process was actually simple.
They both agreed to the divorce and had no objections to the division of assets in the agreement. All they had to do was wait for the 30–day Mandatory Divorce Cooling–off Period to pass before getting the certificate.

However, Cedrick did raise an objection regarding the assets. He not only wanted Lucille to keep her original shares but also wanted to give her more.
Cedrick’s point was that having money from a brother or an aunt wasn’t as good as having her own. Even if they separated, he wanted Lucille to be financially secure for the rest of her life.
Lucille thought for a moment and said, “Fine. Then liquidate it. Liquidate everything at market value.”
Cedrick gave a bitter smile. “Isn’t it better to keep the shares?
There are dividends every year. It’s a long–term income.”
“No.”
Lucille said, “I don’t like dragging things out, and I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore. Let’s get it over with quickly and never see each other again. Besides, what if your company goes bankrupt?”
Cedrick’s smile was extremely forced, and his voice was unsteady. “Why be so absolute about never seeing each other again?
At least, we were high school classmates. We’re still in the same city. Maybe we’ll run into each other someday.”
Not a chance! Lucille thought.
“Alright, enough with the nonsense.”
Lucille prepared to leave with her brother. “By the way, about the money you gave Maricela later,
whoever I’m letting it go. And since we’re divorcing, our agreement is void. From now on, marry you want. Go marry your precious Mari!”
“I never…” Cedrick didn’t get to finish before he saw Lucille take Robert’s arm, walk away quickly, and get into a car.
He watched Robert drive away, muttering the rest of his sentence, “I never thought about marrying Mari.”
But Lucille couldn’t hear him anymore.
Then again, what if she had heard?
His phone rang at that moment. The caller was David.
“Cedrick, where are you guys?

Why is no one around?”
David asked anxiously from the other end.
“Us?”
His mind was a blank; he didn’t know who “us” referred to.
“Yeah, you and Harlan!

Neither of you are at the office. We’re waiting for you for a meeting. We’ve been waiting for almost an hour.”
“A meeting?”
The sun was so bright outside, but Cedrick felt as if his brain was a block of ice, frozen solid and unable to function.
“Oh, come on, man. The proposal for the collaboration with Rossi’s company. Aren’t we supposed to finalize it today?”
