Chapter 311
And even if someone wasn’t happy, so what?
In a place like this, you pretended to be happy even if you weren’t.
After seeing their guests off, Robert and Lucille were also preparing to leave.
Someone came to find Edwin to give him a report.
After listening, Edwin walked over to Robert.
“Lucille, get in the car first.”
Robert opened the car door for Lucille and closed it after her.
Lucille watched Edwin talking to him outside. Their voices were low, and the driver had locked the windows, so she couldn’t hear a thing.
But they only spoke for a moment. Robert mostly listened. It was over in a flash, and then Robert got in the car and sat beside her.
Lucille glanced at him, her eyes full of questions.
Robert chuckled. “Oh, you.”
“Oh, you!”
Lucille mimicked him. “I know what you were talking about. Are they back from taking care of
it?”
Robert laughed. “I guess I can’t hide anything from you.‘
He sighed. “You said it yourself, if you take something from someone, you have to give it back. So I just let the person they took it from go get it back.”
There was no need for me to get my hands dirty. I just had someone drop a few hints, stir the pot a little, and the “creditor” would naturally go after them. I just sent a couple of extra cars and a few more guys, that’s all. Otherwise, how else were we going to deal with that Harlan?
Of course, neither Harlan and Maricela, nor those girls collecting the debt, will know who my guys were.

Lucille didn’t ask any more questions. As long as they were taken care of, that was enough.

Robert told the driver to go, then said to her. “Get some sleep early tonight. Don’t you have things to do tomorrow?
I’ll go with you.”
Lucille nodded.
It was good that her brother was going. It would keep Cedrick from pulling any stunts.
It was finally ending.
Five years.
After getting patched up at the hospital, Harlan and Maricela went back to Maricela’s place.
The injuries weren’t serious–no internal bleeding, no broken bones. They just looked terrible. Those men in black from the two cars had aimed for their faces. So, besides their faces being beaten to a pulp, they just ached in other places, but the injuries weren’t obvious.
“Damn it, Rossi must have sent those guys!”
Harlan sank into the sofa, his whole body starting to ache. “That was a professional job. All pain, no visible wounds.”
But there was nothing they could do. It was dark, and they couldn’t see their faces. They came and went in a flash, and they couldn’t even get a clear look at the license plates.
It would be impossible to know who they were without checking the surveillance footage. But without filing a police report, they had no authority to access the traffic cameras.
When Maricela got back, she checked the trending topics list on her phone and found it was flooded with posts cursing her out. Her Facebook account had also been swarmed, with all sorts of vile comments filling up the comment section.
She cried, “What am I going to do? Everyone’s cursing me out. How am I ever going to show my face again!”
Then, she suddenly noticed her neighborhood group chat had 99+ new messages.
She tapped on it and saw they were talking about her!
A link to the trending topic had been shared in the group.
“Hey, look. Isn’t the other woman on the trending topics list from our neighborhood?”

“That’s her! That’s her!
She even argued with me in the elevator last time!
I’d recognize her even if she were turned to ash!”
“Which building and apartment is it?”
“She’s on the floor above you. You didn’t know?”
“I had no idea! Oh my god!
