548- Two Souls, One Destiny
POV Thalyndra Moonclaw:
He ran his thumb over my cheek.
"You are my gift, I expect nothing more than that." Myrion touched the necklaces, separating them, and let out a whistle.
"I hope you appreciate that, it was a hell of a job finding that damn stone," he complained, making me laugh out loud. "Anton didn't want to come home until we found them. It was days sleeping on the hard forest floor, without company."
I knew he was being dramatic, I was already used to Myrion Eldoria.
"It must have been a traumatic experience," I joked, playing along.
"Good thing you know." Aurelka sighed.
"When I find my fated mate, I won't expect anything less than that."
Lana huffed.
"Here she goes again with that."
Edric clapped his hands, calling everyone's attention.
"I have an announcement to make."
"I said there was something strange," Myrion cut in.
"Lunara and I are going to take some time for ourselves. Since we joined, we've dedicated ourselves completely to the pack and the family. There were troubled years in the beginning, then came raising our pups, and then the Mercantes." He looked at Anton, his gaze reflecting the same as his son's. "You found your fated mate and are already an adult male, a full alpha. You're ready to take on the responsibilities of the pack alongside your brother."
"You're retiring?" inquired Aurelka, incredulous.
He shook his head and looked at Lunara, smiling lovingly at his wife.
"We're going to take some time at the family's summer cabin. I want to take Lunara traveling afterward, visit some places around." He let out a deep sigh. "I feel ready, for the first time, to step away from the pack for more than a few days. You, my pups, are adults, and I know you'll handle the responsibility."
Anton nodded.
"You dedicated the last years of your life to preparing and teaching me, father. Don't worry, when you return, everything will be as you left it."
Edric's smile widened.
"I know that, that's why I feel ready to unwind, leave without worry alongside my companion." He took Lunara's hand and kissed her knuckles.
Aurelka whimpered.
"We're going to miss you, don't stay away too long."
Lunara extended her arms, calling her daughter, who ran to her.
"It will only be a few weeks, my little pup. Even if we wanted to, we couldn't spend more time away from you." She looked at me. "We're going to enjoy a little, before the arrival of the first grandchildren." She winked, all playful.
I couldn't help but smile.
I didn't get pregnant during my last heat, despite having opened my womb for Anton. Sometimes it happened that the pup wasn't conceived. I didn't feel disappointed or frustrated, I wanted things to happen in their own time, without forcing anything, all naturally, just as it had been with me and Anton from the start. I knew the children would come at the right time.
Vladren stood up, raising his glass firmly, his gaze sweeping over every face.
"Let's toast to the family we chose and to the one destiny gave us. May our bonds be as indestructible as the Tharnak mountains, may our hearts beat in unison like the pack on the hunt, and may the blood of the wolves that runs in our veins always guide us along the path of honor and strength. Today, we toast to the past that shaped us, to the present that unites us, and to the future we will build together!"
I held Anton's glass along with him, raising my hand to seal the toast.
"To the Eldoria," we murmured, in unison.
As laughter echoed through the room and the last snowflakes fell softly outside, I stepped away for a moment, letting the scene around me unfold without me. I observed Anton, surrounded by his family, which was now also mine, and a wave of gratitude and admiration washed over me. He was a wolf of a new generation, a rare and powerful being, son of a Supreme Alpha. By his side, I felt part of something greater than I had ever imagined.
History had always been my refuge, my distant dream. I spent hours among ancient books, trying to understand the civilizations that shaped the world, the heroes and heroines who traced their destinies with courage. I never imagined that, one day, I would be the one to be part of it. I, who watched history unfold from afar, was now inside it. Mated to Anton, I carried in me the weight of past generations and the responsibility for the future. We were not just two souls who met; we were heirs to a lineage that dated back to the very origins of the wolves.
The icy wind of the Tharnak whispered through the windows, and I felt that the earth itself recognized what we were building. It was as if the roots of the trees and the ancient mountains around us watched us, aware of the role we played. I always wanted to be part of history, but I never knew what it really meant until that moment. It wasn't just glorious victories or great deeds that shaped the books. It was love, pain, sacrifice, and, above all, the unshakable strength of those who decide not just to survive, but to fight for something greater.
By Anton's side, I was not just a spectator of the past; I was one of the pillars of the future. What we built together would echo for generations, both in our veins and in the stories that would be told about us. Legends began like this: not with great battles or kings, but with the simple meeting of two hearts destined to be together.
And now, by his side, I had understood that the love we shared was the key piece to opening the doors of a new chapter, not just for us, but for our entire species. We were the combination of everything that was and everything that would come to be. The blood of the wolves pulsed strong in our hearts, and destiny held something greater for us.
I looked at Anton, at his strength, his loyal heart, and his wild spirit. He was not just my companion; he was my equal, my partner in the battle to build a new world. And deep down, I realized that it didn't matter where the path took us, as long as we were together, we were prepared to face anything.
Because, after all, we were not just part of history. We were history.
