105- The Inhibitor

105- The Inhibitor
POV Edric Eldoria:

“When you find an omega in heat and can’t control yourself, we’ll have this conversation again.”

“I’ve already found several, and yes, I do feel affected. But out of control, like you? That’s pretty unlikely. It’s your flaw,” he mocked.

“I’m telling you, Anton—when you find the right omega. I’ve witnessed many of Thalira’s heats, as well as others’, and never once was I this affected.”

He rested his head on the back of the couch.

“I just don’t get one thing.”

“And what’s that?”

“Why don’t you just give in to it? I mean, you’ve already fucked before—it’s not like it would be something new, a first time.”

“The answer’s pretty obvious.”

“And what is it?” he asked, turning his head toward me.

“We don’t want to. Is that so hard to understand? The interest only comes from the heat and the pheromones the body releases, nothing more.”

A teasing smile played on his lips.

“Sure…”

Ignoring him, I hurried toward the stairs, climbing them with a hint of desperation. I smelled her before I even reached the bedroom door.

I stopped, took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and tried to steady the frantic beating of my heart. I was hanging by a thread. A damn thin thread before I’d lose control completely.

I opened my eyes again and pushed the door open, determined to hand her the pills and get out as fast as possible.

Lunara was nowhere to be seen.

At first, panic hit me hard. Exuding pheromones like that made her a fucking beacon for the Eclipse wolves who had managed to invade the territory. But the warmth in my chest—a feeling that never came from me but from my soul, from my beast—ignited. She was still somewhere nearby.

“Lunara?” I called, scanning the room warily.

The bedroom looked exactly the same as when I’d left it. The sheets were tangled and rumpled from where she had rubbed herself against them.

“I’m in the bathroom!” she shouted back, her voice sounding tired.

My steps faltered slightly as I walked toward her. She was in the bathtub, the water covering her entire body. Her head rested against the edge, hair tied up in a high bun, eyes closed.

The scent of my shampoo and soap filled the air, blending with her pheromones.

I approached, but not too close, fighting to maintain control, and extended my arm, offering her the pills. She opened her eyes, looked at me, and sighed.

“Your scent calms me a little,” she confessed, explaining the thick layer of foam floating on the water. “And the hot water reminds me of you. I think that helps ease the heat.”

I clenched my jaw and averted my gaze from her collarbone, where a drop of water slid down her skin toward her breasts beneath the waterline.

“That’s good.”

She grabbed the pills and nodded in agreement.

Our fingers brushed, and a surge of electricity shot through me. I froze. She moaned softly, arched her back, and rose in one swift, fluid motion I hadn’t thought possible.

Water splashed everywhere, soaking the floor and my boots.

Lunara stood before me, completely naked.

“I need you,” she pleaded, stepping forward.

I took a few steps to the side, dodging her touch. If she got too close, I’d lose every shred of control, and we’d fuck like two animals—exactly what our beasts demanded.

I bolted from the bathroom, and she followed. Her eyes glowed emerald green, her movements sharp and precise, like a hunter stalking its prey.

“Lunara, take the inhibitor now.”

“You are my inhibitor,” she purred.

Gods, of all the battles I’d ever fought, this was the worst.

I kept my eyes fixed on her face, refusing to look at the wet, naked body prowling toward me across the room.

She exhaled pheromones again, releasing that divine scent into the air. My knees weakened, and I had to brace myself against the wall to stay upright.

The intensity of her heat was terrifying me. I wouldn’t let my beast take over again—I refused to let it act for me. Things were getting worse, and losing control wasn’t an option.

Fucking Lunara in the forest, in the lake, sharing light moments with her—that was one thing. I had wanted it; she had wanted it. We were adults, acting on our own will. But this—this was different. This was primal, overwhelming.

I swallowed hard.

She still held the pills but seemed to have lost control. Her free hand slid over her breast, fingers teasing her pink nipple, and a moan escaped her lips.

“Take the inhibitor. Now!” I ordered, using my Alpha authority to compel her before it was too late.

She was immune to the fear my scent usually inspired in others—but not to my dominance as her leader. Her eyes blinked rapidly, clearing.

“Gods, it’s getting worse,” she muttered, opening the packet and swallowing two pills at once. “I’m taking a double dose.”

“Was it like this the first time?” I asked, curious.

“Not as bad. I mean, it was awful too—I felt the heat, the scent pouring out of me against my will, the moans—but it seemed easier to control.”

“Maybe because now you’re mated.”

“Yeah, maybe.”

Even though I understood some of it, I had no idea what the heat cycle was truly like between bonded wolves. It wasn’t exactly something couples went around sharing, and I’d never cared to ask—I never thought I’d ever mate with anyone.

I was feeling it too, just like she was, though I managed to restrain myself better. The first time, my beast had taken over the moment she felt the first strong wave of heat and released pheromones, and before I knew it, we were already mated. But this was different—I was in control now, enduring every one of her advances.

“I’m going to leave you alone,” I warned, taking a few steps back toward the door. “It’s better this way, until it takes effect.”

She nodded.

“I hope it works soon,” she said, walking to my bed and collapsing onto it, wrapping herself in the sheets like a dog curling into its nest.

She was still suffering from the effects of the heat.

I didn’t wait another second. I opened the door and slammed it behind me as I left. Breathing hard, I leaned against the wood and stared down the dark hallway.

If I had to deal with this again, I wouldn’t live long enough to reach five hundred years.

Then her scent reached me once more, and I let out an exasperated groan.
