They danced until their feet hurt, finally dragging themselves back into the palace late that night and did not emerge from their rooms till the sun was high in the sky.
Alexia made her way to the dining room. Finding a comfortable looking chair she plooped down and began to fill a very large glass of coffee. She sipped her coffee after cream and sugar and filed her plate taking slow bites.
Relaxing, she scrolled through her phone finding various videos and photos that had been posted by the group the night before. The boys doing shots. The girls taking bathroom selfies. Somehow Thomas ended up in a dance battle with some other dudes, and won?
She found a video of Chris dancing in the middle of the street while Tab yelled at him to get back over here from the curb. Chris then trying to run from Tab causing the rest of them to laugh and Thomas yelling "We got a runner." Alexia smiled at the memory. She smiled at the laughs they shared and the memories they made.
After they finally coralled Chris's drunk butt, the boys put him the trunk of the escalde. Many pictures were taken, and posted. They sang with the radio the whole way home, laughing at each other's terrible singing voices.
“It’s going to rain today” Hazel announced as she and Chris made their way into the dinning room. The others were already gathered around the table indulging in pancakes, eggs, bacon, muffins, and anything they could possibly desire. Chris went straight for the coffee.
“Not till late tonight so don’t even start lecturing me on packing enough to be prepared.” Thomas said giving her a pointedly look. The others chucked.
“I am sure none of you will melt.” Luca said trying to keep the peace.
"How you feeling?" Edmund said smirking at Chris. "Coffee. Now" he responded, desperate.
"Have you taken any asprin?" Hazel asked. "Asprin?" he questioned. "You know blue pill, big A." she said smiling.
“So… weather permitting” Alexia asked looking at Hazel as she continued “ What are we doing tonight?”
“Excellent Question!” Edmund said suddenly very excited. “My brother gets back tonight so, today is my last day of freedom before he comes home and I can no longer avoid my responsibilities.”
“Well then what do YOU want to do Edmund?” Tabatha asked the prince.
“I think we can all agree last night was fun” he said pausing to look at everyone nodding in agreement. “I want to listen to live music. Let’s find a concert and go.”
“That doesn’t sound terrible, let’s do it!” Luca said.
After a relaxing afternoon by the pool, the group found themselves once again packed into Edmund’s Escalade.
They ended up at a rock concert that left them exhausted. The boys did not dare drink near as much as they had the night before so they stuck to beer. The music was on point causing everyone to join in signing and hold up their flash lights.
After the concert they found a resturant that was open 24/7. They piled in the booths and ordered food.
"When is everyone heading out tomorrow? I want to make sure I see you off." Edmund asked.
"We'll probably leave about mid-morning I guess." Chris said.
"Yeah same with us" Luca agreed.
"Good, I have meetings in the afternoon so that works out." Edmund responded.
Not wanting the night to end they finally left and made their way back to the palace. After raiding the kitchen for snacks they dispersed to their respective rooms. It was late once again but they didn’t care. It was worth it.
“I made sure our rooms were on the opposite side of the palace as the love birds” Edmund said as he and the twins their way up the stairs to their rooms.
“I think I my ears would bleed if I had to hear their mating.” Luca said causing Edmund and Alexia to laugh.
As they reached the top of the stairs Alexia paused and went to the window across from the stairs watching the rain fall.
“Goodnight you two, I’ll see you before you leave tomorrow” Edmund said before turning to leave.
“Night” Alexia and Luca said together.
Alexia stood there watching the rain running down the window as Luca went to his room. It was a good weekend and made her look forward to Leadership training that was coming up soon. Her parents had actually met at Leadership training when they were young. Her mother was the daughter of an alpha in another pack and was walking out to the training field when she smelled Jacob. The minute their eyes met across the field he ran to her, swept her up in his arms, and they have been inseperable ever since.
Would her love story be romantic? Something that made all the girls hearts melt? She had always had her friends but she wanted something deeper. A partner to stand by her no matter what. Loving her unconditionally and treating her like a precious gem. *Maybe*, she thought.
She sighed and moved from the window to go to her room when she smelled something. She froze. Looking around for anyone near by. She saw none. The scent was so sweet it could only be one thing. Her Mate. He was here. She stuck her nose up searching for the source frantic to find it. Her mate's scent was driving her crazy making her anxious. She needed to find him. The smell was faint. Whoever he was, he had walked through here hours ago. She followed it down a hall till she came to a door.
She stopped. Looking where she was she realized she was standing in the King’s Quarters. The door in front of her was the King’s bedchamber. The only people allowed in her was the royal family. Was her mate the king? Could it be? Her father was best friends with the late king but after his passing the two families did not do as much together as they once had. With the exception of Edmund.
She stood there, stunned at the realization. Holding her hand up she could not bring herself to turn the doorknob. What would she say? Sorry to wake you but I am your mate? I was walking around the halls in the middle of the night and I caught your scent? Creepy.
Then she heard it. A sound that caused her stomach to lurch and her chest to ach in pain. Moaning came from the other side of the door.
Tears began to fall. She couldn’t control them. She didn’t know what to do but she had to get out of there. She willed her feet to move. She couldn't think, couldn't breathe, all she could do was run. Run as fast and as far as she could go.
She raced back the way she came. Desperate for air she ran into the gardens, falling to the ground as she tripped over a stone. She lay there on the ground, unable to move an inch.
The rain was pouring. The thunder rolling. Lightening cracking in the distances but she didn’t care. She didn't care that she was in the middle of a storm. She didn't care that she lay on the ground. No all she could think about was her mate. Her one true mate was currently with another woman in his bed. She clutched her chest and sobbed as the rain soaked her body.
