Chapter One Hundred and Five
As Damien and I made our way through the back hallways of the school, I could feel the spell trying to take hold of my mind. It was a constant battle to resist its influence, and I could see the same struggle on Damien's face.
Despite our best efforts, we finally reached the source of the spell. It was located above the dungeons, housed in a tree in the student courtyard.
The moonlight shone down on the tree, revealing a faint glow emanating from its branches. I knew that this was the source of the spell, and I knew that it was up to me to break it.
I stepped forward, my magic swirling around me as I prepared to remove the spell. But before I could act, a twig snapped behind us.
I turned to see Colton standing there, his eyes filled with fear and confusion. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
I hesitated, unsure of how to explain everything that had happened. "We're here to break the spell," I said finally, my voice firm and resolute.
Colton's eyes widened in shock. "What spell?" he asked, his voice filled with confusion.
I took a deep breath, knowing that it was time to reveal the truth. "The academy has been under a compulsion spell," I said, my voice laced with anger. "It's been manipulating everyone's thoughts and actions, including yours."
Colton's eyes narrowed in suspicion. "How do you know this?" he asked, his voice laced with doubt.
I hesitated, knowing that what I was about to say would be hard for Colton to believe. "Colton, it's okay." I said to him, his face didn't look right.
Colton's eyes widened in angry shock as he took in my words. "I-I don't know what to believe," he said, his voice filled with confusion.
I reached out and took his hand, hoping to offer some comfort. "It's the truth," I said, my voice filled with sincerity. "We have to break this spell, Colton. It's the only way to free everyone from its hold."
"N-no. You're crazy Isabella." He said, his faced pained as the spell would not reveal the truth to him. "Just come to bed, be with me. Damien has put crazy thoughts in your head because he's trying to steal you from me."
"You're lying." Colton said, "He's filling your head Isabella!"
"Isabella, focus on breaking the spell." Damien said. But as soon as I turned to start the spell, I heard a loud commotion behind me. Colton had tried to attack me, and Damien had protectively pushed him half way across the quad.
I gasped as Colton lunged at Damien, his fangs bared and his eyes glowing with anger. I knew that he couldn't see past the spell, that he was being controlled by its hold on him.
"Colton, stop!" I shouted, trying to intervene. But it was no use, Colton was too far gone. He grabbed Damien by the collar and pushed him against the wall, snarling.
"You stay away from her!" he growled, his voice laced with anger. "She's mine!"
"Colton, listen to me!" Damien tried to reason with him, but it was clear that he was too far gone. "This spell is controlling you, you have to fight it!"
But Colton just snarled and lunged at Damien again, his fangs bared. I knew that I had to do something, but I was at a loss for what to do. I couldn't let Colton hurt Damien, but I also couldn't let him hurt himself by fighting against the spell.
"Isabella, only focus on the spell." Damien yelled to me.
"Colton, please!" I begged, tears streaming down my face. "You have to fight this spell! You have to see the truth!"
But it was no use, Colton was completely consumed by the spell's hold on him. And with a growl, he lunged at Damien again, his fangs bared and ready to strike. I tried to focus on the spell, but I couldn't stop looking to Damien. Colton was about to kill him. In a moment of desperation, I reached out and grabbed Colton's arm, trying to pull him away from Damien. But he was too strong, and he shrugged me off with ease. His claws cutting into my face.
Colton turned to me, his face clearly showing that his emotions were splitting between trusting me or the spell.
"I'm so sorry," Colton said, dropping Damien and starting to cry. I looked to Damien and Colton crumpled in front of me.
"Shh, it's okay." I said to him.
Then Colton looked up at me, and I knew something was wrong.
It all happened so fast, Colton brought his fathers knife out, and plunged it into my stomach.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Damien said, running at Colton. My vision began to go blurry. There was no way that Colton would plunge a posioned knife into my stomach...right?
But as I looked down to my injury I realized that my normal healing magic wasn't working, and as I looked up, I saw the reason why.
Headmaster Down, along with Coltons parents, and Draco and his father, all stood at the quad opening. A sly smile was on her lips and I returned it with blazing eyes, pulling the poisoned knife from me with grit.
My friends had joined too. All looking very sorry for me but also angry, angry that I was trying to hurt them.
"Give up Isabella." Headmaster Down said.
"We've won." Michael said, Draco's father.
"Not while I'm alive you fucking assholes." I said, but my body had become weak.
"We posioned you, turned your friends on you, and after tonight we'll remove their memory of you." Michael said. I gritted my teeth, focusing on a spell to heal the posion.
"It's no use, we made it in a lab, specifically for your freak blood." Headmaster Down said. I began to cough blood, growing worried.
Colton, Damien, please help me. I said to their heads, but it was no use. They were attacking one another loudly across the quad.
"No one will even remember you. You will be just a blimp." Michael laughed. I rolled my eyes.
"Wait, what is that?" Headmaster Down asked, I turned my body to see a shape of mysterious figures.
I watched in shock as the mysterious man and woman stepped out of the shadows, accompanied by a group of army vampires I didn't recognize. They launched themselves into the fray, starting a violent fight against Headmaster Down and Michael. My friends too.
I tried to focus on healing myself, but the poison was taking its toll. I could feel my strength ebbing away, and the sounds of battle seemed to fade into the distance.
Just as I was about to lose consciousness, I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Isabella, can you hear me?" a familiar voice said. I turned and saw a woman I didn't recognize.
"Who are you?" I asked, but an attack near us didn't give her time to explain. "Drink this, quickly. Then do the spell, we will protect you daughter." She said. I barely had time to process her words. I drank the antidote she gave me and pulled myself up with a groan.
"You are the only one who can break the spell, do it now!" A man screamed at me. My parents, were these my parents?
I shook my head and walked to the tree in the center of the quad. All around me the people I loved most were dying, fighting involuntarily under Michaels ugly curse.
I walked to the tree in the center of the quad, tears streaming down my face as I watched the people I loved most fighting and dying around me. My parents stood protectively on either side of me, ready to defend me from any threats.
I reached out and placed my hands on the trunk of the tree, feeling the sickly energy of the curse pulsing through it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, drawing on every ounce of magic I had left.
I let out a scream as I channeled all of my energy into breaking the spell. The tree trembled and shook, the glowing aura around it growing brighter and brighter. I could feel the curse breaking apart, the tendrils of magic unraveling and dissipating into the air.
With one final burst of energy, I released the spell with a huge blast of magic, sending waves of power rippling out in every direction. The tree exploded in a shower of sparks, the curse finally broken.
I collapsed to the ground, exhausted but triumphant. The battle around me seemed to pause for a moment, everyone staring in shock at the destroyed tree. Then the spell's hold on them lifted, and the fighting stopped.
A man began to approach me and I dragged my body weakly up to see it was Michael. I began to pull my body away from him, crawling backwards and bracing myself for his sword. I was too weak to stop him.
A loud roar filled the air and I opened my eyes.
A man, strong, and brave, jumped and yelled out as he brought a sword down hard on Michaels head.
"DON'T TOUCH MY FUCKING DAUGHTER!" The man yelled, and with an exhausted smile on my face, I passed out.
