Chapter 169: I Won’t Let You Off

I noticed the change in Andrew's expression, and I could sense that this woman named Olivia must be really important to him.

Nova didn't notice Andrew's expression. She just kept talking.

"Andrew, back then, the thing between you and Olivia was all over the school. Everyone thought you'd definitely marry Olivia after graduation, but who would have thought..."

"But your wife now seems nice too. You two look good together."

Nova kept talking without noticing the change in Andrew's expression. Luckily, her husband York Palmer noticed something was off. He brought a glass of water to Nova.

"Honey, have some water first."

Nova didn't appreciate York's gesture and said, "I'm not thirsty right now. I just want to talk to Andrew about old times."

"Andrew, Mrs. Lopez, you don't think I talk too much, do you?"

Andrew didn't respond, making things a bit awkward. I smiled lightly and said, "It's fine. Women tend to talk more when they're pregnant."

"Say whatever you want."

Fortunately, Nova didn't continue that topic. She turned to talk about the difficulties of pregnancy and shared a lot of pregnancy tips with me.

The rest of the meal went smoothly, aside from that awkward beginning.

After lunch, Andrew and I got ready to go back to The Lopez Mansion.

The whole way, Andrew's expression was stiff. He didn't say a word to me, just gripped the steering wheel like a robot.

I really wanted to ask who Olivia was, but when the words came to my lips, I didn't know how to start.

Forget it, better not ask.

I pretended to be tired and rested my head against the seat.

Just then, my phone buzzed with a text message. I took it out and saw it was from Nancy.

Nancy: [You think marrying Andrew makes you the winner? Wrong. The woman Andrew loves is Olivia. You're just a breeding tool for the Lopez family.]

[Jane, you took what should have been mine, ruined my life, and brought disaster to the Gonzalez family. I won't let you get away with this.]

Nancy mentioned Olivia in her message. My expression changed slightly. From this, I could tell that Olivia must be connected to the Gonzalez family.

If I get the chance, I need to find out what's really going on between Olivia and Andrew.

I didn't bother with Nancy's crazy message. I deleted it and blocked her.

My actions caught Andrew's attention.

He glanced over and asked casually, "Who texted you?"

I got nervous but didn't mention Nancy's threats.

I brushed it off, "Junk message. Some ad asking if I want to buy property."

Andrew just made a sound and didn't ask anything else.

After dropping me off at The Lopez Mansion, Andrew didn't come home with me. He asked a maid to stay with me, then turned around and left.

I wanted to ask where he was going, but Andrew didn't give me the chance.

Being pregnant, I felt down again. I went back to my room with the maid, and on the way, I suddenly had an idea.

The maid's name was Eden. I'd heard from Kurt that she'd worked for the Lopez family for nearly twenty years. She was trusted by Clara and had been involved in all the household affairs. She and the family driver used to take Andrew to school when he was young.

That meant Eden had been with Andrew for many years. From what Nova said today, I could tell that Olivia was Andrew's high school classmate. Eden might know about her.

So I made an excuse to ask Eden about Olivia.

"Eden, I just ate and feel a bit full. Can you walk with me in the back garden?"

Eden immediately agreed when I asked her to walk with me.

"Sure, Mrs. Lopez. Let's take a walk."

"Pregnant women should walk more. It helps with delivery."

Eden was chatty. On the way to the garden, she kept telling me things to watch out for during pregnancy.

"Mrs. Lopez, you're too thin. You need to eat more and gain some weight so the baby can develop better."

"Tell me what you want to eat, and I'll have the chef make it for you."

Eden really cared about me. I could tell she genuinely treated me well.

Of course, this was probably all for Andrew's sake.

After walking with Eden for a bit, I changed the subject to the past.

I asked Eden, "Eden, I heard from Kurt that you used to take Andrew to school when he was in high school?"

Eden laughed and said, "Not really. Mr. Lopez rode his bike to school in high school. He was old enough—why would he need me to take him?"

"But his classes were intense, and he didn't like the cafeteria food much, so I'd prepare lunch and bring it to school for him at noon."

Hearing this, I felt more confident.

I asked again, "I see. Eden, I want to know more about Andrew's past. Did he have any good friends in high school?"

Eden nodded and said, "Mr. Lopez was reserved. He didn't have many friends in high school. There were Henry, Nova, and..."

Following Eden's words, I said directly, "And Olivia?"

Eden's expression had been calm, but when she heard Olivia's name, she looked like she'd been struck by lightning and got nervous.

She smiled awkwardly at me and said, "Mrs. Lopez, let's not talk about this. These are all things from the past!"

Eden's nervousness told me everything. It seemed Olivia held a big place in Andrew's heart.

Or maybe Olivia was a woman Andrew could never forget.

A wave of jealousy rose in my heart. That unprecedented sense of loss felt like a huge stone blocking my chest.

I was jealous. I was sad.

Why did I appear so late? Why wasn't I part of Andrew's youth?
