Sarah was well seated at the back of a taxi. Ever since thought of selling the diamond ring came on her mind she had handled the diamond with utmost caution. Safe guarding the diamond ring was an understatement; she clutched the bag wherein the ring was and pressed it to her bust.
Earlier before now she had browsed about the worth of T and C diamond ring and the amount she saw overwhelmed her. She couldn’t believe she was on the verge of becoming hundred million dollars richer. This was more than fortune to her at least it would pay her father’s medical bills; buy her a simple house ; pay part payment of their debt and then have a little change to start up a business.
Later after she must have sold the fashion home, she will have realized enough money and then with the income from her business she would be on her way to settle their debt and recover the Canon Group from the ministry; those were her plans.
“I would bounce back again. Father would recover his health and Mike Don will be put to shame. He thinks he has got money and power. He wants to pour hell on us, but he is a fool!” she cursed, assured herself and shook her head in confirmation.
The taxi conveying her came to an abrupt halt and with his gaze in the front mirror, the chubby driver reminded her , “Ma’am I think this is Rio Hondo diamond plaza, where you can sell your diamond,” the young man pointed at a detached glass house.
She raised a thick brow and gave a firm nod once she saw the glass house and the sign board which had Rio Hondo diamond written on it. “Okay thank you very much dear but you are going to do me a favor.” She sounded and winked anxiously.
With his gaze still in the front mirror, the chubby driver queried vividly, “What could that be, ma’am. Is it something I can do?”
Sarah gave a defiant nod and leaned forward to enunciate yet further, “Please I don’t have a dime on me.” she pulled out the diamond ring and flashed it in the face of the driver, “As you see I have got an expensive diamond ring, which is worth one hundred million dollars.”
“Jupiter’s brain!” the taxi exclaimed, gagged his mouth with his hands and was forced to turn around and see the diamond ring in question. “That is so much money, ma’am,” the driver intoned.
Sarah gave a brief nod. “That is what I am talking about, so you can see I am not broke after all. I would want you to hold on while I go in there to sell my diamond ring. Once I sell it, I will pay for the taxi. Is that okay by you?” she inquired
Promptly the driver gave a swift nod and added, “That is okay by me. I will hold on ma’am. Wow you are rich, ma’am perhaps after selling the diamond ring I will work for you,” the driver sounded hilariously.
Sarah chortled briefly before alighting from the cab and advanced to the glass house.
The moment she cat-walked into the store, the tons of diamond pearl and bracelet flashed into her eyes and she let a dilated smile before gazing upon the diamond ring in her hand.
“Good morning ma’am. You are welcome to Rio Hondo diamond store where we buy and sell highly rated top notch diamond.” The tapering, blonde lady said across the counter.
Gently Sarah held out the diamond ring and intoned, “Thank you very much. I am Sarah Canon. I want to sell this diamond ring at the sum of one hundred million dollars,” she said impatiently and couldn’t wait to lay hold on that money.
The receptionist smiled cheeks to cheeks at Sarah, “I am sorry ma’am. But we have protocols which we must fellow before any transaction is made.” The lady intoned and pointed Sarah’s attention to a paper on the desk, “Depending on the quality of your diamond we can buy at the rate of even one trillion dollars, in as much as it is original.”
Upon hearing that, Sarah replied the lady, “Hey not only do I have the most expensive diamond but also it was given to me by the world richest man himself. Do you think he would go for anything of less quality? I believe my diamond falls in the class of one trillion dollars like you said.”
The lady raised a wink in excitement, “Wow if it is coming from the world richest man then it must be of good quality,” the lady replied and took the diamond ring from Sarah, “I will take it to the lab where it would be checked for its originality and quality. If you don’t mind ma’am you may have a seat and wait.”
She gave a nod in refusal, “Hey, come on, I have not come to sit down. You can go ahead and check it, and please don’t forget, I will love to sell it at one trillion dollars no longer one hundred million dollars because it is a diamond of high quality,” Sarah prided and gave an impatient look.
“Okay, ma’am if you insist. I will be right back,” the lady went away with the diamond ring.
While Sarah had her hands on her waist and paced up and down impatiently for the lady to be out, she leapt for joy inwardly as she believed the diamond ring wasn’t just of the highest quality but would earn her the one trillion dollars which would be used to sort out her debts.
It was in the middle of her thought that the young lady and a tall, British man walked out of the lab, with hostility hanging on their faces.
Sarah queried instantly, she saw them, “Yeah , have you confirmed my diamond ring? So can I have the one trillion dollars now because I believe you are satisfied with its quality…”
“Mrs. Sarah Canon!” the British man called in an unfamiliar tone, “I am sorry to inform you that this is not a diamond ring. This is just an ordinary, worthless metal ring that is worth only fifty dollars. By the way who gave you this piece of shit?” the man barked, “This is a worthless metal.”
Sarah slumped on the floor…
