My Terms Or No Deal

Isn’t it disheartening that it took an honorable minister one week to get ten million dollars which is a prerequisite for my visitors.” I sounded, lopsided smile clouding my face while I stood at the shelf and poured Cappuccino Freddo for two, from the moment he got into my office, I perceived the wrath that boiled on his face, so when he sighed I wasn’t surprised.

I advanced forward with the two cups of coffee. “Business is best discussed with coffee.” I intoned and handed him a cup with my smile still held, yet knowing he wasn’t going to give me face.

He gave me the cold shoulders and hissed under his breath. I placed the cup in front of him while I relaxed in my sectional sofa to study the thunderous face of my beholder.

Forcefully he jeered through his teeth, “Can we please start the proceeding for the loan. I have not come all the way from the State House to sip Cappuccino, with a trillionaire that has made himself god.

I shrugged sighed and chortled briefly. “Why are you mad at me for choosing to lead a luxurious life, worthy of emulation? Listen up honorable minister I am not as broke as you. Right now my money is longer than London Bridge, so before you can see me you must have ten million dollars in your account this is important so as to isolate broke as like you…”

He interposed me through clenched teeth, “And who told you I am a broke ass? Didn’t your aide tell you I have ten million and fifty thousand dollars in my account?”

I interrupted his lies and put it straight to him, “Money that you don’t have. Only God knows who gave you the ten million just to make you eligible to my standard. I know you minister. I know you can’t afford ten million dollars in your account. You are an epitome of poverty.”

His face caked with an offensive frown, “I beg your pardon, Mike Don. Why would you think such of me, huh? Is it because I declined showing your security my account balance earlier? I am an honorable minister. I earn well and am rich. I may not be as rich as you but I am rich enough to afford ten million dollars just to see you…”

I burst into a laugh and choked on it. “You never seize to amaze me, minister. If you can tell yourself the truth you will know that you are broke, and you are standing before me today is by luck.” I made a face at him, “I know haters like you never wanted Mr. President to borrow the loan from me.”

He sat up fiercely and shrugged in disapproval, “Who told you such, Mike Don. I have always wanted Mr. President to borrow from you,” he lied, “Why would I do such?”

Infuriated for one bit, I gulped my cappuccino and stretched to the documents in my shelf and slapped them in front of him, “I don’t have time to banter words with you. These are the agreement documents for the loan, peruse through them and if you are okay with my terms, endorse your signature and I will give you the credit card for thirty four trillion.” I raised a red credit card.

He grinned briefly, put on his glasses and took the documents. Few minutes pulled by, then he shot a furrowed brow at me and asked, “All your terms are perfect and acceptable by us except the fifth clause. Why would you demand or such power.” He dropped the documents.”

I dimmed my eyes at him, “I beg your pardon. If you want my thirty four trillion then you must go by my terms otherwise you can use the door.”

The minister stood up in rage, and drew a deep breath, much aware of what he expected of me, “Mike Don you have got guts. So because you are the world richest man you want the state to give you the supreme power to free five prisoners per month, huh? What the hell!”

“You have got no conscience!” I snapped at him and stretched a newspaper to him, “Take a look at this.”

He waved his hands at me and averted his gaze, “Oh forget about that trash. I have read it all…”

I interjected him, “Uh-oh you have read it and you don’t want to do anything about it. Can you see how heartless you are? This is ridiculous!”

He tossed his head and clenched his jaw. “Mike Don we only demanded for loan and not your life. If you want to give us the loan do it cautiously and considerately, forget about Rio Hondo prison. It is our business and not yours.”

“…And also my business!” I banged, “You won’t understand what those inmates are going through. I have been to prison. I know how it feels to be a prisoner, especially when you are innocent of the offense. I want to free these Rio Hondo prisoners and absorb them into my companies so that they would lead fulfilled lives and the world would be a better place for us…”

“Mike Don! Mike Don!” his emphatic tone resounded, “You are the world richest man. Don’t let your wealth get into your head. Mr. President would never subscribe to this at all. Those prisoners cannot rot in jail for all I care…”

“Really!”I pounced to my feet, my jaw ground as I advanced to the door and yanked it open, “Leave my office now!” I commanded through gritted teeth.

“Mike!” he bit out, raised a tensed brow and widened his gaze at me, “Do you realize you are talking to an honorable minister, huh?”

I fumed, “Honorable minister my feet. How much is in your account? If the borrower of the ten million dollars in your bank account should come for it you are not supposed to gain access into this office let alone see my face. Go and tell Mr. President my conditions otherwise no deal. Take your fifty thousand dollars broke ass out of my office!” I yelled.

Trouble ahead!
