Chapter 43: You Are My Big Sister
The Wells family had money to burn, and they quickly got their hands on ten strands of Olivia's hair with follicles attached.
When Vivian found out, she lost her appetite. At the dinner table, she had to force a smile in front of Emma:
"I've been wanting to lose weight lately."
After dinner, Vivian went straight to the hospital under the Liu family's management.
Fortunately, she had successfully entered the core of the Wells family. This hospital visit went smoothly, and everywhere she went, people called her "Miss."
Each time someone called her "Miss," it only strengthened Vivian's determination to prevent Olivia from returning to the Wells family.
She quickly found the doctor who would be conducting the paternity test between Olivia and Dominic, casually asking about the timing and details of the test.
Once she confirmed where Olivia's hair samples were kept, Vivian quickly found an excuse to get the doctor out of the room.
Then she pulled several strands of hair from her own head and replaced Olivia's hair samples.
Vivian smiled as she tossed Olivia's hair into the trash:
"Olivia, so what if you really are the Wells family's biological daughter? As long as I'm around, no one will ever know."
——
At the orphanage.
Having completely dealt with Mary, Olivia began arranging future lives for the children in the orphanage.
Because in the near future, she would be going to university in Washington.
The orphanage's entire interior and furnishings were updated, the food quality was upgraded three levels, and education was directly aligned with Elite Academy's standards.
Besides that, with Mayor Scott's help, kindergarten and elementary school arrangements were all settled.
Throughout this time, Tom stayed by Olivia's side helping with everything, becoming Olivia's most loyal "assistant."
After wrapping up the orphanage matters, Olivia immediately began preparing to upgrade Tom's mechanical arm for the second time.
Tom quickly waved his hands:
"No need, this mechanical hand works great."
Olivia shook her head:
"The flaws are too obvious. It needs an upgrade."
With Olivia's final word, Tom couldn't say anything more and could only quietly carry out the shopping tasks Olivia assigned.
But soon, Tom returned with the shopping list:
"Liv, these things are a bit too expensive. You've already spent a lot on the orphanage. How about finding some cheaper alternatives?"
Olivia never looked at prices when spending money and had never paid attention to her balance.
Hearing Tom say this, she finally checked her bank account.
Combined with the special precision materials needed for this mechanical arm, Olivia couldn't help but frown.
But she quickly relaxed her brow:
"If there's not enough money, we'll go make money. Wait for me."
With that, Olivia smiled and pulled out her phone to contact Lena.
Olivia: [Want to go make some money?]
Lena: [Sure.]
——
At the racetrack.
A group led by Joseph was racing.
Engines roared on the track while screams filled the air outside.
Olivia drove Lena's new Ferrari, did a perfect drift, and parked the car beside the track. The two got out.
Joseph was originally driving his race car on the track.
He had already passed Olivia and Lena, leading the cars behind him by several positions, but when he saw Olivia, he hit the brakes and stopped right there.
"What's going on? Why did Joseph suddenly stop? Is something wrong with his car?"
"No way! I bet on Joseph to win today. It was looking so good!"
Joseph's sudden stop caused the surrounding audience to buzz with discussion.
But he didn't care at all. He got out of the car, took off his helmet, and jogged over to Olivia with a big smile:
"Why are you here? Did you look around and realize I'm actually the best? Better than Evan?"
Joseph had been crushed by Evan in every aspect since childhood and had an instinctive fear of him.
But he truly admired and had feelings for Olivia. Seeing her here, he thought he had another chance and naturally pushed his fear of Evan to the back of his mind.
At this moment, Joseph transformed into a peacock showing off, tossing his hair and winking at Olivia.
Olivia completely ignored him and said directly:
"Five hundred thousand. One race."
Joseph had been wanting to race Olivia again anyway, so he immediately agreed when she asked.
"No problem. But last time I saw your modification skills were pretty good too. How about we include modification in this competition?"
Joseph had spent years at the racetrack and had comprehensive knowledge of racing. He figured even if he couldn't win the race, he could at least win the modification round and show off his skills in front of Olivia to earn some points.
Olivia agreed without hesitation.
The audience who had just been complaining about Joseph immediately started taking bets.
"Now this is interesting. Wonder how good this girl's modification skills are?"
"No matter how good her modification skills are, I'm betting on Joseph. Don't forget, except for eating and sleeping, Joseph spends almost all his time with race cars, and he modifies all his cars himself."
"Joseph's odds are one to one. Betting on him won't pay much!"
"So you're betting on the girl?"
"Am I crazy?!"
While people around them noisily discussed who had better skills and who to bet on, Olivia and Joseph's modification race had already begun.
They each used unused half-finished race cars from the track, and all the parts were readily available.
Compared to Joseph's familiarity with the process, Olivia didn't start working right away. Instead, she looked through all the parts first.
Only then did she start working.
By this time, Joseph was already halfway done with assembly.
Seeing this, everyone felt this would be another race where Joseph crushed his opponent.
Even Joseph himself thought so.
But just as Joseph confidently went to grab the last part, Olivia raised her hand:
"Assembly complete!"
Joseph looked completely incredulous:
"How is that possible?!"
Gasps of surprise came from all around.
"What happened? I was watching Joseph the whole time and didn't see her at all. How did she finish?"
"I don't know! I didn't see either!"
"Finishing assembly first means nothing. A newbie like her, let's just hope her car doesn't fall apart on the track."
Olivia paid no attention to this.
She drove the car directly to the starting line and waited for Joseph.
Someone nearby couldn't help but remind her:
"You can start the race now. Once Joseph gets here, you won't have a chance to win."
Olivia acted like she didn't hear.
She only started the car after Joseph drove his to the starting line as well.
Seeing this, Joseph couldn't help but admire Olivia even more, and he took this race much more seriously.
He was determined to perform well in front of Olivia this time.
But this race turned out much worse than the last one.
Because the car Olivia modified herself led from the start.
By the time she crossed the finish line, she was a full half lap ahead of Joseph.
Olivia got out of the car and took off her helmet. The scene fell silent, everyone stunned by Olivia's skills.
It wasn't until Joseph's car crossed the finish line and stopped, and he jogged over to Olivia, shouting excitedly:
"Liv! How are you so amazing!"
That's right—two races had completely made Joseph recognize his place. He no longer fantasized about marrying Olivia.
