Honey...

Honey...
The older woman eyed Caden up and down, narrowing her eyes. "A man this handsome must have a son who's just as good-looking, right?"
Alison pinched the back of Caden's hand—she wasn't his wife, after all.
Caden gave her a casual glance.
The older woman laughed. "So, sir, you're planning to go through the back window of my house, is that right?"
"Yeah, thanks, ma'am." Caden thanked her. "When my son’s birthday comes, I'll bring you a gift to thank you."
"No need for a gift. Just bring the baby over for me to see whenever you have time. I just love little kids."
"Honey, what do you think?" Caden asked Alison with a straight face.
Alison really wanted to pinch him while his hands were touching her waist.
"Honey..." Seeing that Alison was hesitating, Caden called out.
Alison snapped back to reality, her mind filled with images of the royal blue Lamborghini.
She bit her lip and replied softly, "Okay."
"Ma'am, do you think we can go inside now?" Caden asked.
"Sure, go ahead. Don't let the baby wake up and cry himself hoarse. It's such a hassle to give medicine to such a little one. Come on in. Hurry up." The old lady urged them on.
Once they were inside the woman's home, they jumped out the back window and landed right behind the building.
Caden led Alison through a series of twists and turns as if he knew the area like the back of his hand.
"You know architecture, too?" Alison asked.
Caden narrowed his dark eyes slightly. "Just follow me."
They peeked out from behind a building and saw that the entire street was swarming with police.
Alison looked out and started to walk out, but Caden yanked her wrist.
Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "If you don't want to get kicked off this street, don't go out there. And when the time comes, don't come to me for help."
Alison gritted her teeth and called Jack again, but his phone was still turned off.
Clutching her phone, she was nearly driven mad with anxiety.
Suddenly, more than a dozen police officers emerged from the entrance of the luxury apartment building where officers had been coming and going frequently.
Just as she was filled with confusion, several more people were led out from behind the officers.
The police were escorting these individuals—presumably suspects—with their hands cuffed behind their backs and their faces covered, making it impossible to see their features.
However, the last person to emerge captured all of Alison's attention.
It was Gwendolyn.
It was the first time Alison had seen her, and she was even more beautiful than in the photo Alison had seen on the awards board at the Maple Gold Crown Hotel.
Her long hair cascaded down her shoulders, swaying gently with every step she took.
She bore some resemblance to Alison, but wasn't an exact match.
"Huh, that girl looks like you." Caden blurted out.
Alison's heart skipped a beat.
Seeing Gwendolyn confirmed that Jack had indeed been there before, even though she hadn't found the royal blue Lamborghini yet.
So that was why he'd ditched her midway through—to come here and find Gwendolyn.
Although the suspects were hooded and their faces were hidden, she could tell that none of them were him.
Several people were escorted into police cars, which sped away with sirens blaring.
Soon, the cordon around the entire street was lifted.
Only the luxury apartment building still had police on guard.
All other buildings were open for free entry and exit.
People came out and stood on the street, gossiping.
"That woman is so shameless, hitting on everyone. I bet she lured those two men here for a fling and they ran into each other. Otherwise, why would they be fighting in broad daylight?"
"They actually had guns—who are these guys? This is going to be a huge scandal."
"Did your husband come here to have some fun, too?" Caden asked, making Alison furious.
She kicked the ground hard.
Gritting her teeth, she said coldly, "Let's go."
Jack had gotten himself into trouble while chasing women before, and she'd been foolish enough to worry about him.
She really was a fool.
"Not going to look for your husband anymore?" Caden asked.
Alison stopped abruptly, spun around, and bumped into Caden with a thud.
She furrowed her brow and took a step back. "Do you want me to go to the mall and buy some duct tape to shut your mouth? You're so annoying!"
"So now you think I'm meddling? My car got impounded because of you. Do you think it was meddling of mine to give you a ride here, too?" Caden said.
The two walked out.
Caden waved, and a taxi pulled up.
He bent down gracefully, his tall, slender figure slipping into the taxi.
Alison stood there, hesitating.
"Aren't you coming?" The man rolled down the window, his fingers tapping lightly against the half-open pane.
As soon as Alison settled into her seat, the taxi pulled away.
"Where to, sir or ma'am?" the driver asked, turning his head back. “You two go well together.”
"I…" Alison was about to explain that she wasn't with the man sitting next to her.
But she held back.
The driver didn't know them, so there was no point in explaining.
