Chapter 18

Alpha Erick’s POV:

I arrive at the jail and go inside. I am angry that not only did Raven betray us, but Meaghan too. I still do not know precisely how all of these pieces together. I am not sure I want to know. I only want to make sure Kate and the children are safe and my wolves.

My phone goes off. I pull it out of my pocket and read the message from Kate. She has Levi and Katherine. At least, they are safe with Kate. She will protect them.

I hear a loud movement coming toward and then it stops. Jason is walking toward me. He got here fast. "Looks like you are up and moving around," I say to him.

"Yes, now let's handle these traitors," Jason says.

I nod my head and then open the door to the pack jail. John is waiting inside the door. "I have Raven at one end and Jeremy at the other. Neither of them is saying much. Just the usual, ‘you will pay for this, and you are all going to die.’ You know that bullshit. Other than that, they are quiet," John tells me.

"Meaghan took off. I suspect she will be coming here to free her man," I say to John.

John looks out the small window in the front of the jail. "I will put some wolves outside to watch for her. If she comes here, we will take her down," John says.

"Put her down. She is coming to kill us; show her no mercy, John," I say.

John nods his head. Killing a woman is not on the top of his to do list today, but if we do not put her down, she will kill us and maybe our families. She has to go, and so do Raven and Jeremy.

I walk down the hallway past Jeremy. I want to see Raven first. Jason walks behind me. I cannot wait until this is over and Jason and Kate can fill me in on what the hell is really going on unless Raven confesses and tells it all, which he might do if he thinks he will live.

I stop in front of Raven's cell. Raven sits on a cot. He looks up at me and then back to the floor. "You know I am guilty, so why are you here?" Raven asks me.

I grab the bars. "I want to know why you betrayed Kate. Should I say why you and Meaghan betrayed Kate," I say to Raven.

Raven laughs. "Alpha Erick, you are so stupid. Do you not see how powerful your wife and daughter are? The two of them could rule the world, but instead, they sit subservient to a half-ass Alpha like you. I thought she would come into her own as Alpha and maybe just maybe find it in herself to break away from you and come with us. She could have everything," Raven says.

Jason steps forward. "I know you are from the nomads," Jason says.

Raven's eyes get big as Jason speaks. "Keep your mouth shut, or I will kill you the same way we butchered your father. Too bad you do not have his powers, Jason. You are just a hybrid that cannot even take the wolf form. You are nothing but a bad science experiment between Rainwater and Jaxson. You could not even save your father. You really think you can kill me," Raven says, rising to his feet and moving toward the cell door.

Jason does not budge. He begins to growl and hiss at Raven. Jason is reaching inside the cell, grabbing Raven. "I will kill you. You will pay for what you did to my father!" Jason screams at him.

Jeremy begins howling as John runs inside to see what the hell is going on at Raven's cell. Howling is coming from outside too. A she-wolf is howling. It has to be Meaghan. She is here for Raven.

"Put all of your wolves on her," I yell at John. John rushes outside. Meaghan is growling and howling as John, and his wolves go after her.

"They will kill her," I say to Raven.

Raven growls at me. "I can get another bitch," Raven says.

"Open this door and let me kill him, Alpha," Jason pleads with me.

Jeremy is howling louder. His howls are beginning to get on my last nerve. Is he calling someone or just being annoying. I walk down to his cell. I look in at him. He stops howling for a moment, smiles at me, and then laughs. I walk to the keys and grab the one that opens his cell.

I go back to Jeremy's cell. I open the cell door and go inside. I close the door behind me and put the key in my pocket. "It is just you and me, Jeremy. You want to tell me your story," I ask him.

"No, I have nothing to say," Jeremy says. He rushes toward me. I push him to the floor and pounce on him, taking my wolf form in mid-air. My teeth are at his face, and I am ready to kill.

"Kill me, and they will still come for her. That little girl will be ours," Jeremy says.

Jeremy's words infuriate me. I bite into him and take my time killing him. I want him to suffer. No one will come near my children, and these nomads will not have Belle. She will not be going with anyone as long as I am alive to stop it. Jeremy screams out in pain as he dies slowly. His pain is not enough. Now, it is time for Raven to die.

I stand up, take my human form, and open the cell door. Jeremy is on the floor bleeding. He is almost dead. I will leave him to die alone and in pain. I walk back to the cell where Raven is located. Raven and Jason are still going at it, growling and hissing at one another.

The growls and howling from outside seem to have stopped. I hear John, so I know everything is okay. "I think they got her, but you said that was fine, right. You can get another bitch," I snap at Raven.

Raven's eyes tell another story. He did love her. Maybe he was not supposed to fall in love and have a child with her, but he did. Now his choices killed her.

"You will pay for this and your bitch wife and those little half breeds. Imperial blood should have never mixed with a wolf like you. Kate could be so much more than she is. She could have everything, but she chose love with a wolf like you," Raven says.

I have had enough. I reach into my pocket and pull out a key. I unlock the cell door. "Time we settle this, Raven. Only one of us with walk out of here tonight," I say.

"I am ready, Alpha," Raven growls at me.

I unlock the door and go inside the cell. Jason slams the door shut as I take my wolf form and pounce onto Raven. He will die tonight for his betrayal.
