Chapter 68 Their Obsession
THIRD PERSON'S POV
Tyler sat in the living room of his apartment.
His gaze was hollow, his hands empty, resonating with his life, but his heart… it was full of the memories of that one person he wished he cherished more.
He grabbed the photo frame that he had gotten with Angelica on their first anniversary. She was pulling his cheeks while he tried to pose like a bodybuilder in the photo.
He remembered how she had spilled coffee on her dress, and they had gone inside the mall to change into something else.
There, she saw a booth hosting an event.
They were supposed to take funny couple photos, and the funniest one was supposed to win a free trip to some islands.
They didn't win the first prize. They got the second prize. The prize was a couple of tickets to an amusement park.
At that time, Tyler had thought Angelica would be sad since she didn't win the trip, but to his surprise, she was eyeing the third prize, which said 'free ice cream'.
His Angel was as simple as that.
Tears brimmed in his eyes slightly.
If only he had taken better care of her, if only he had told her everything beforehand and hadn't broken her heart like that, she wouldn't have gone to the twin alpha's company, fallen for them, or anything beyond that.
It was all his fault that he lost her.
And then, when he found her again, due to some work at his pack, he had to leave her alone, and someone took her away once again.
He was sure she didn't go by herself. His Angel was too angry and wounded to be able to leave herself. Someone took her away.
And he would've worried that something might happen to her if not for his Gamma, who reported seeing her in the twin alphas’ territory.
Tyler rubbed his fingers on the photo frame longingly before sighing.
His beta, who wanted to report a new rogue invasion near the borders in the no man's land, thinned his lips when he saw his alpha still pondering over that human girl.
He was about to speak to catch his Alpha's attention when he saw Cindy walking inside the apartment and sighed in relief.
He believed that the woman would be able to knock some sense into their alpha, who was mourning the departure of a human as if he had lost his mate.
“Tyler, are you for real? You are still brooding over Angelica?” Cindy asked.
Tyler’s bloodshot eyes rose to look at the girl. His glare was enough to let the woman know she had chosen the wrong words, and she swallowed hard.
“What I mean to say is, your pack needs you, Tyler. With the rise in the invasion in the nearby territories since they are looking to strengthen their troops, we need to do something about the borders,” Cindy said.
Tyler didn't say anything.
Cindy furrowed her brows.
“Tyler –”
“That's Alpha to you!” Tyler rose from his seat, and Cindy shuddered in her place at the glare he threw at her.
The veins in his forehead bulged, an indication of minimal control over his wolf.
“If it hadn't been for you, I would've never lost the woman that I loved so much. I lost my mate long ago and was ready to settle with Angelica. Heck, I was looking for the right time to start hinting to her what I was, but you came and ruined everything in my life,” Tyler snarled.
He walked to her and fisted her hair, forcing her to look into his eyes, the sheer anger in his eyes resonating like that of a madman.
“It takes a lot of guts, Cindy Cohl, to appear nonchalant like this, no? You chose to disrupt my peace. So I suggest you keep your distance from me, bitch. You were a friend, but not anymore,”
Tyler seethed through his teeth and left the apartment in cold anger.
Tyler's beta turned to Cindy, who looked as though she would collapse at any second.
He held her hand and helped her onto the couch.
Cindy took a deep breath, placing her hand on her wobbly legs to calm herself.
“What was that, Matthew?” She asked, shocked.
Matthew averted his gaze and looked into the distance.
“You know what this is, Miss Cindy. Our alpha’s love for Miss Angelica is turning into an obsession,” the man said.
This was what he was worried about.
When he heard about his alpha’s intentions to keep Angelica to himself after he found her in the forest, he knew they were inviting unwanted trouble since everyone around them knew that Angelica was now with the twin Alphas.
Thus, when he heard from Tyler that someone had taken Angelica, he was slightly relieved, but who would have thought things would turn out like this?
His alpha has been brooding, blaming himself, thinking about that human girl as if she had some kind of possessing power and had control over their alpha.
It was turning to the point where his alpha even randomly talked about whether there was anything they could do to steal Angelica and have her back on their territory. He was thinking about going against those monster twins that even the kings of other species respect.
To say Matthew was scared about their pack’s future at this pace would be an understatement.
Honestly, he was contemplating contacting Angelica and having her tell Tyler that she was over him.
Matthew rubbed his forehead, sensing an upcoming migraine.
He looked at Cindy one last time before leaving.
At the same time, inside a hotel room, the atmosphere was quite tense since the subordinate walked inside the room and laid out the news about Angelica's recent abduction and her almost losing her dignity to those men who had immoral intentions against her.
The man in the centre of the room, seated on the boss chair with his cane thumping on the carpet, every thud raising his subordinates’ heartbeats, finally rose from his seat.
“So you are saying, a bunch of men dared to kidnap the woman I have my eyes on and even tried to molest her?” Jarvin asked.
The subordinate kneeling on the ground, bowed his head, his nose touching the floor.
“Sir, please forgive me. I know you told me to keep an eye on Madam till you were busy with the shipments, but I lost track of her whereabouts when she entered —”
The subordinate started, but before he could complete his sentence, Jarvin pulled out the sharp steel sword from inside his cane and sliced the man's neck.
The head rolled to the side of the carpet, making everyone draw a sharp breath.
No one dared to make a sound, or even whimper.
Angelica and her whereabouts were a big deal in their organisation. After all, their boss was obsessed with that girl, obsessed to the point that more than half of their time was spent talking or thinking about her.
Jarvin wiped the blood from the sword before placing it back in his cane.
“I think it's time we bring her back. She has been gone and enjoying herself astray for quite some time. We tracked her number last time, didn't we? Let's start from there,” Jarvin smirked before he looked at Carl.
“Those men who kidnapped her, do we have any information on their team? Let's pay them a visit too,” He said, his eyes shining with hidden evilness.
