Chapter 44 A secret
ANGELICA’S POV
It was cold. The other side of the bed was cold.
By the time I woke, both the men had left the bed and been long gone.
I looked at the ceiling with a soft smile, trying to comprehend everything around me.
It was happening and concerning.
I never had imagined myself as someone who would love being loved by two men simultaneously, but it was happening.
And the way that man was trying to corner me again was concerning and saddening.
If that man hadn't ruined my day with his thoughts because of the kind of trauma he had instigated in my head, I would've never run towards the forest, and nothing like that would have happened. He was affecting my life even with his absence, and it pissed me off.
Shaking my head to forget the bad times, I sat on the bed before wearing my slippers.
My feet wobbled as soon as I put my foot on the carpet to walk. I quickly grabbed the support of the nightstand to prevent myself from falling.
What the hell? My eyes widened.
Were my legs feeling like jelly because of what happened earlier? I felt like this just with this encounter; how would my body react when they'll fck me like they wanted like I said I needed?
Even the thought was enough to make a blush appear on my cheeks.
After taking a deep breath, I shook my head and left the room to find the brothers and see if they were still there.
“Is this your concern right now?” I heard Dylan's voice and stopped.
What were they talking about?
“What do you mean?” Ericson said.
I stopped at the last pair of stairs to avoid disturbing their conversation and eavesdropping.
“I mean, shouldn't you be more concerned about why our mate felt the need to carry a gun around with herself? Just think about it. If she didn't have the gun, she might've gotten injured. But no sane person would carry a gun without reason,” Dylan explained.
“You mean to say something is happening with her that we don't know about?” Ericson asked.
His words made me pause.
Were they suspecting of anything?
“Why are you standing there, baby? You can join us,” I heard Ericson, and my eyes widened even more.
I was sure they didn't see me because they were in the living room. How did they find out I was standing here? Did they have some superpowers, or were there security cameras all around the house, and they saw me?
The thought made me look around at all the possible corners.
I couldn't inspect for long as, in the next moment, Ericson walked out of the room and smiled at me dazzlingly.
Dylan followed him.
Their expressions were soft and welcoming. Not a hint of what they were talking about earlier could be seen on their faces, and I realized how well the men hid their emotions.
“How are you feeling now?” Ericson held my hand.
“Good,” I whispered.
They led me to the dining room, making me sit in the head seat as they sat on either side.
“Did I create problems? I mean, I know killing an animal is a sin. I swear I won't kill anyone like that. It was just an instinct to protect myself,” I said to clarify my name.
I wasn't some kind of murderer. It was just that I was designed to protect myself using a hook or crook if I got into a problem. That was how my stepfather built me in the past years because of the constant stalking and how that man had been chasing me.
Ericson smiled and shook his head, making Dylan smile, and I furrowed my brows at them.
Why were they smiling as if they were enjoying some kind of inside joke I didn't know about?
“Why are you smiling like that?” I asked.
Ericson chuckled.
“Baby, we have killed more humans than you can count on your fingers. Do you think we would be worried about you killing a wolf?” Ericson said before he widened his eyes.
He looked at me, and I looked back at him in shock.
He didn't mean to say such words to me; his expression said it all. However, it was hard for me to mask my shock.
Yes, I knew they were top-tier businessmen, and with the rumors of them being involved with gangs, they were bound to kill, but like that? They sounded just like my stepfather, even worse. But did that bother me?
“Haha, what are you saying, Ericson? Must you exaggerate like that?” Dylan quickly tried to cover the matter.
I looked at him with my head tilted.
“You don't need to do that,” I said.
“Hmm?” He asked me, confused.
“You don't need to hide who you are, what you are. I am falling for your real sides. Let it stay that way,” I confessed.
Dylan paused.
He looked into my eyes for a few seconds before suddenly looking at his fingers and taking a deep breath.
My brows twitched at his reaction.
I wanted to know what he was thinking about.
“Why?” He suddenly asked.
What did he mean by why? What was –
I sucked in a deep breath when he suddenly stood and grabbed the nape of my neck, placing his lips on mine in a passionate kiss.
He breathed heavily, my heartbeat picking its pace immediately.
I closed my eyes, relishing the feeling.
I could feel Ericson's hands on my thighs, rubbing my leg up and down, and I gulped, barely containing my moan.
However, the feeling left quickly. Dylan pulled away and looked into my eyes, his blue eyes shining like beautiful orbs, and I felt mesmerized for a few seconds.
“Why must you be so cute? Why are you making me fall for yourself so hard?” Dylan placed his forehead on mine before pecking my lips again, and I smiled with my eyes closed.
“Do you—” I started to speak, but my response was cut short when Ericson said something that left me speechless.
“So, who is the person bothering you? Who is it that you are running away from?” He asked, and my body froze as all the memories from that last incident when that man kidnapped me suddenly took over my head.
My hands trembled at the mere thought, and I am sure they noticed it, too.
I stood from my place, distancing from them.
“Mi Amore, I know you have secrets. We have our secrets too. Let's tell each other something we didn't think we would share. We are not what you think we are.
There is something you need to know about us –” Dylan started but stopped when the door of my guest house suddenly opened, and all of our attention snapped to the person who entered.
It was Alan.
“Sir, this is bad. The rogues attacked,” He said.
Rogues? What did he mean by rogues? I wanted to ask, but I heard collective growls echoing in the air before I could say anything, and my body shook.
Did he mean a pack of wolves attacked us because I killed one of them? I widened my eyes, stumbling back in shock.
It was my fault.
