Chapter 41 His feelings
THIRD PERSON'S POV
Dylan, Ericson, and others had already changed into human forms before reaching the place. Thus, there wasn't any problem in standing before the girl.
Ericson looked at the girl sitting on the tree's branch, hugging herself. Her body trembled with what felt like fear, and his heart ached.
Dylan scrunched his brows.
He looked at the dead wolf by the tree's foot and then at the girl who was shivering, her hand clasped against the gun that was ready to shoot anyone who was going to harm her.
It was an explicit feeling. He didn't know how to explain what he was feeling. He only knew that his wolf was screaming at him to protect this girl with their life because that was what they were supposed to do.
“Mi Amore,” Ericson walked forward, wearing nothing but pants as he neared the tree.
It was as if his voice had broken Angelica out of some kind of trance. She looked down, her gaze finally taking in all the males around her who were dressed in only pants, and tears welled in her eyes.
“It's okay, baby. You are fine. I am sorry for appearing so late. You can relax.” Ericson raised his hands toward the tree, signaling she could jump into his arms.
She didn't move for a few good seconds.
She kept looking at him as if still wary before she nodded.
Angelica slid down the tree and jumped into Ericson's arms. Her fast-beating heart made the alpha inside Ericson roar in anger.
A rogue dared to come inside their pack and tried to hurt his mate.
And all of this happened on his watch!
He hugged Angelica close to his chest, hiding her face in the crook of his neck.
Ericson walked in long but slow strides, his glare stopping Dylan from moving from where he was.
He should've acted sooner. If he had, nothing like this would've happened.
Dylan could feel his brother's rage, and paired with his own wolf's rage; he punched the tree, a large crack appearing in the trunk of that tree that immediately made it slit from in between and fall on either side.
It was true that when Dylan found Ronaldo's stepdaughter in their area, he actively found out about her.
He had intended to gather information only. Probably kidnap her, scare her a little, and make Ronaldo realize what it feels like to have your family at someone's disposal.
However, he hesitated when he discovered she was just a human, not a wolf or lantern.
Dylan returned to his work, discarding the thought of harassing her until Harris mentioned his mate was living with a human named Angelica.
He had his doubts.
That night, while in another country dealing with the rising rogue attacks, he received Angelica's photo.
That was the first time he saw her, and he felt immediately blown away.
As the alpha and one of the most dangerous ones at whom the other alphas throw their daughters to marry, he had seen all kinds of beauty, but nothing could compare to how simply enchanting Angelica looked.
For the first time in his life, his heart betrayed him. It asked him to claim this woman for himself.
After completing the task, he returned to the country, and his wolf's first demand was to find this girl.
Dylan had pacified himself that he was doing it because he wanted to avenge Felicia’s death, but he knew long ago what it was for.
That night, he was in one of the private rooms on the club's third floor, meeting with one of their business partners, when Harris told him Angelica was also in the club.
He had left the meeting halfway to see the girl in real life.
She was crying at that time. Those tears appeared like soft pearls Dylan wanted to collect and then kill that person who made her cry at the same time.
Dylan expected to speak with her casually to learn about her, her family, and especially Ronaldo. However, when she turned and met his gaze with those eager eyes, time seemed to stand still.
Her scent was subtle. Perhaps because she was human, his wolf only felt restless when he saw her picture. However, when he gazed into her eyes, everything became clear.
She was his mate. She was their mate.
The realization came all too soon, and as much as he wanted to kiss the hell out of her, suck that breath from her lips, claim and mark her as his and only his, the fact that she was just a human and completely oblivious about his species, made him control himself.
He had never thought controlling would be this hard.
It has already been a month, but they have not progressed with her.
Dylan knew his brother was mistaking things. While he still wanted to avenge Felicia's death from Ronaldo, he didn't want to make Angelica a pawn.
How can he do that? She belonged to them. They belonged to her.
Dylan took a deep breath and looked at his brother, whose hands were clenched around Angelica as if anyone who tried to touch her would die a brutal death, and he sighed.
Dylan needed to control and calm his wolf by ensuring Angelica was fine, but he also knew that he needed to address this tragedy first.
He shook his head dejectedly and looked at his team, who seemed to want to say something to him.
“What is it?” Dylan asked.
“Sir, this is bad. This wolf wasn't just any rogue. She was Garfield’s mate,” Alan said.
As soon as those words left his mouth, Dylan raised his brows.
“And why is this bad? She is twenty-four years old. She should've known not to trespass our boundaries. Besides, she wanted to hurt our mate. What Angelica did is called self-protection,” Dylan said.
Alen looked at his alpha and nodded.
His words made sense. Besides, it wasn't like the rogues weren't attacking them already. All they would do now was make this another reason behind their attacks.
“You are right, sir. They will just use this as another leverage to attack us. I will look into strengthening the security even more and ensure a few ladies follow our Luna in hiding from now on so she won't face such an issue again,” Alan said.
The word Luna rolled out of his mouth naturally, and he widened his eyes when he realized what he said, but it was too late.
“What did you call her?” Dylan asked, his gaze dark.
“I am sorry, sir. " Alen immediately apologized, unsure what was going on inside their alpha's head this time.
Dylan didn't say anything and just ran in the direction where Ericson took Angelica away, an indescribable feeling spreading in his heart.
