Chapter 11 Their addictive touch
ANGELICA'S POV
They had a presence. I can't deny that. As soon as we entered the venue, everyone turned to look at us. They were probably curious about the mysterious CEO brothers who entered the venue.
Who wouldn't? They were walking sx gods on earth, probably the favorite sons of lady aphrodisiacs.
I gazed at them from the corner of my eyes, unable to contain my admiration. They exuded charm and a powerful presence, even without revealing their faces.
I can't imagine their effect on people if they revealed their identities.
It's a constant battle. The primal urge to unveil their identities, to meet their intense gazes, is so strong that I fear it will cost me my job one day.
I heard they don’t make many public appearances, and this was their second appearance in two days. Maybe they only attend the meetings where the members aren't some kind of douchebag who loves to gossip.
"What is a beautiful young lady like you doing here alone?" A man walked to me, and I looked up at him. His brown, lustful eyes were the first thing that caught my gaze.
The kind of man I would like to stay away from.
"Attending a business meeting with my boss," I smiled politely.
His gaze lingered on my chest inappropriately, and I felt a wave of discomfort wash over me.
If I had been alone, I wouldn't have thought twice before insulting him in a manner that he would've forgotten to ask any unmarried female for a drink when he was married and probably the father of two sons older than me.
However, I was a secretary for my bosses. What if he were an important businessman, and my actions hurt the company? I can't afford to get kicked out of such a big company just because I couldn't handle a douchebag.
More than that, I wouldn't be too happy leaving my two bosses when I am so comfortable around them.
Don't take me wrongly; they are a sight indeed. A single girl needs all the fun in her life, doesn't she? So what if they can't be mine? I can stay happy in my imaginary bubble, right?
"Are you there?" The man asked, bringing me out of my thoughts, and a nerve in my forehead twitched when he placed his dirty, wrinkly hand on my elbow.
"Thank you for your offer, but I have a low tolerance to alcohol. I don't want to get bloated and drunk, which will affect my professionalism," I bowed in respect and started walking closer to my bosses.
"Hey, pretty lady?" The man raised his voice behind me, and I turned to look at him with a scowl.
"Oomph," I bumped into someone, the side of my face aching slightly.
"I am so-" I was about to apologize when I looked up and saw Sir Erickson's face.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his hand resting on my back. I melted when he looked over my shoulder, probably at the man, and nodded.
"Yes, I am sorry for that. I was distracted. I know it's unprofessional of me, but I assure you that it won't be -"
"Stay close to us. We can't keep an eye on you if you drift far," He looked into my eyes with the same intensity that I was becoming a fan of.
My heart skipped a beat at his choice of words. I am sure he was saying this so that I would be available for them whenever they needed me as a secretary, but my stupid heart couldn't help but think of it as a romantic gesture from him.
"You have a weird habit of getting lost in your thoughts. You know that, right?" Sir Erickson held my elbow.
I looked at the place he was holding, smiling inwardly when my heart did a flip, and I felt jitters in my stomach.
So now I am repelled by everyone's touch and feel happy when my boss touches me? Will I love it if they touch me inappropriately, too? Will I allow that kind of sexual harassment from them? I cleared my throat when I realized where my thoughts were going again.
"I am sorry," I looked down at my feet, and he sighed.
"We will talk about it at home," he said before turning to the client. I looked up, catching Sir Dylan's smirk, and heat rushed to my cheeks immediately.
Stopppp! I wanted to shout at my heart, which has acted weirdly since I joined the company—or since I met them.
After meeting a few people, everyone walked to the lawn where the dinner tables were arranged and sat according to their names.
Since it was a party for the business aristocrats only, secretaries like us weren't allowed to sit with the bosses, and we had a separate food aisle.
I told them I would be there, and they nodded before returning to their meeting. I caught them occasionally looking my way, and to stop myself from getting distracted again, I turned my back to them.
"It sucks, no?" I heard an unfamiliar voice behind me, and I turned to a woman dressed in a black body-hugging dress, which did nothing to hide her curves. The dress complimented her body. She was so beautiful that I felt a little awed by her.
"To come to this kind of party and be humiliated like this? Like you don't even matter and are nothing more than working enslaved people for the companies?" The lady said again, observing me, and I didn't like her thought process.
"I don't see what's wrong with having a different food aisle for the secretaries. This is supposed to be a business meeting. Those people will be talking about million-dollar projects.
There's no harm in wanting to keep it a secret from their secretaries. Not all people are trustworthy, and the company's secret theft isn't uncommon these days," I shrugged before taking my plate from the counter and placing my favorite dishes.
"You have a positive mindset," She said before extending her hand.
"Ballerina," She smiled, and I smiled back before shaking her hand.
"Angelica,"
"Just like your nature, angelic," She commented.
"Are you not going to eat something?" I asked when she didn't pick a plate.
"Nope. Enjoy your meal," she said, and I scrunched my brows before stuffing my plate even more now that no one was watching me.
I sat on the empty table and started stuffing my mouth when a text message blinked on my phone's display.
"Where are you? Are you at your apartment? I am in the area," It was a message from Tyler, and I clenched my fists.
What the hell was wrong with this man? How can he even think of messaging me after he did that? One part of me wanted to ignore this douchebag and block him, but I also wanted to know why he messaged me.
“What do you want now?” I typed back.
"I have nowhere to go. Can you let me stay at your place for the night?" Tyler asked, and I gritted my teeth.
The nerve of this guy! If he had been in front of me, I would've scratched the face he is so possessive and obsessed with.
Does this guy have no morals? Why the hell was I in love with a jerk like him for two years? Not only has he cheated on me, proposed to the girl who was supposed to be just a friend in front of me, mocking me in so many ways, but now he dares to ask for help.
"Why don't you go to Cindy's? She would be thrilled to have you around. That was your favorite place earlier, no?" I scoffed before putting my phone upside down.
