Chapter 59

Chapter 59

As soon as Henry got home, he was in such a good mood that he called for Susan.

"Quick, have the servants make something delicious! We're about to strike it rich!"

Susan came out of the bedroom yawning, and the sight of him filled her with resentment.

Business had been bad lately, so she didn't dare spend money either.

All their money had gone toward preparing their daughter for the Langley family recognition banquet. She only had a few tens of thousands a month for living expenses.

Recently, when wealthy ladies invited her out, she didn't dare go, afraid of spending money.

Seeing Henry looking so happy, she pursed her lips. "Business is so bad, and instead of thinking of solutions, you're in the mood to eat?"

Henry looked smug. "Who says business is bad? We're about to get rich! That girl Charlotte somehow managed to get a job at the Langley Group! I threatened her with tomorrow's cemetery visit, and she's willing to give us a project in exchange."

Susan's eyes lit up when she heard this. "Really? She actually has the ability to get into the Langley Group? We really underestimated her before."

"Just wait and see. Partnering with the Langley Group will make us at least tens of millions. Once we've got her under our thumb, we'll never have to worry about money again!"

Henry sat down and pulled out a bank card from his bag, handing it over.

"Haven't you been reluctant to spend money lately? Here, go buy yourself a couple of nice outfits tomorrow."

Susan was thrilled. She had just tucked it in her pocket when a phone rang.

Henry answered the call, and an anxious voice came from the other end.

"This is bad, Mr. Johnson! Your, your family cemetery has been bought by someone! The security personnel and property management staff have all been kicked out!"

Henry jumped to his feet in shock. "What did you say? That's the Johnson family cemetery. Who bought it!"

"I don't know. Suddenly a bunch of people came and kicked us out. They had the land deed saying the cemetery is theirs now, and the Johnson family has no right to enter anymore!"

Henry's face completely changed.

He was furious. "What's going on! Who did this? Who the hell did this!"

"I don't know, we really can't find out! But..."

The person on the phone took a deep breath. "But we found out that this cemetery will be open exclusively to Ms. Johnson from now on."

"Who did you say?"

"Ms. Johnson, your daughter, Charlotte Johnson."

The call ended. Henry's hand went slack, and his phone dropped to the floor.

"What's going on!" Susan was also shocked. "Did Charlotte buy the cemetery?"

Henry's face was ashen. "Impossible! How could she have that much money? That piece of land is extremely valuable. We rent it as a cemetery for a million a year. To buy it outright would take at least ten million!"

"Ten million!"

Susan was also stunned. "Then, then did she hook up with some big shot!"

Otherwise, she couldn't figure out how Charlotte could have that kind of ability!

"It's Alexander!"

Upstairs, Chloe's voice suddenly rang out.

She pushed open her door and came out, looking upset, having heard her parents' conversation.

Chloe hurried downstairs.

"Charlotte and Alexander are together! Even Edward is playing matchmaker for them. It must be Alexander who helped her buy that land!"

Susan couldn't believe it. "With her looks, she could hook Alexander?"

"It's true, I'm not lying to you."

Chloe spoke very seriously. "And Charlotte has also gotten close to Daniel! Daniel has accepted her as his goddaughter!"

Susan felt dizzy.

This biological daughter of hers, admired by Alexander and accepted as a granddaughter by Daniel - she felt no pride or joy, only disgust!

Charlotte had never been raised by her side growing up.

The child she had devoted herself to raising was Chloe.

No matter what happened, it should be Chloe who earned the appreciation of such an excellent man.

It should be Chloe who earned Daniel's regard!

Everything was all mixed up.

She didn't believe that the daughter she had never cared for and looked down on could be so capable!

Wasn't this a slap in her face?

Susan clenched her fists in anger. "No, I can't let her be so smug!"

She was thinking about how to make Charlotte lose her glory and stop having everything go her way.

This was exactly what Chloe wanted to hear.

She walked over and grabbed Susan's hand tightly. "Mom, then we need to find a way to break her and Alexander up. She has no feelings for our family now. She keeps saying she's cut ties with us. If she really latches onto Alexander and becomes Daniel's granddaughter, we'll be completely trampled under her feet from now on!"

Susan immediately looked at Henry. "What do you think?"

Henry kept a straight face but scolded them. "You really don't get it. How can you go against her? Since she can hook up with Alexander, we should be on good terms with her and get her to throw some benefits our way."

"But she won't give us any benefits. A simple partnership project could have gotten us cemetery access, but she insisted on having Alexander spend all that money to buy the cemetery, and she won't let us in! She's clearly trying to make us enemies."

Chloe immediately panicked.

She didn't want to see her parents forced to smile and fawn over Charlotte again.

Henry thought about it and felt she had a point. After thinking for a while, he made a decision.

"Here's what we'll do. Didn't you mention last time that the Harris family has an adopted goddaughter who Edward is quite fond of? And she really likes Alexander."

"You help set her up with Alexander and break up Charlotte and Alexander!"

Otherwise, when Charlotte found out she wasn't Susan's biological daughter and that her real mother was Victoria, she would definitely be even less willing to return to the Johnson family and might even go after them.

He didn't want to see that happen.

This was exactly what Chloe wanted.

She smiled. "Yes, Ms. Miller and I both won awards in the design competition. If Edward knows we're both so excellent, he'll definitely be more pleased with me and will want to set up Mandy as Alexander's wife."

"Then hurry up and find Benjamin. When you see Edward, tell him this good news." Henry waved his hand, urging her to go quickly.

That evening.

When Charlotte returned to Gold Valley Mansion, she was called over by the butler from the Harris Estate.

"Mr. Harris is waiting especially for you. A very talented chef came to the house today, and he wants you to try his cooking."

Charlotte happened to be hungry after getting home from work, so she went with the butler to the Harris Estate.

But when she arrived, she saw the living room was lively.

Both Chloe and Mandy were there, sharing good news with Edward.

"We won first and second place in the design competition."
