Chapter 24

Chapter 24

After Charlotte finished asking, the elevator fell silent.

Alexander's lips curved slightly, a hint of an unreadable smile flickering in his eyes.

"Do you think I have any intention of hurting you?"

He walked up to Charlotte step by step and stopped, leaning down slightly and moving close to her ear.

Charlotte felt Alexander's warm breath brush past her ear, almost as if he had kissed her earlobe.

Her whole body stiffened. "What are you doing?"

Alexander's faint breath fell upon her.

"I want to be friends with you. Friends look out for each other, don't they? What do you think?"

Charlotte's pupils contracted slightly as she pushed Alexander away.

But the next second, Alexander caught her wrist and pulled her toward him.

He looked down with amusement. "Are you refusing to be friends with me?"

Charlotte's expression remained cool, but her ears were burning slightly.

She hated physical contact with people, so over all these years, she had never been this close to a man before.

"Ms. Johnson, don't you want to be friends with me?"

Charlotte took a deep breath. "I don't like being played with."

"I'm not playing with you." Alexander's expression suddenly became serious.

Just then, the elevator reached the first floor and the doors opened.

Charlotte forcefully pulled her hand back, didn't look at him again, and strode out.

Behind her, in the second before the elevator doors closed, Alexander stepped out as well, a smile gradually growing in his eyes.

A man in a suit appeared silently beside him.

"The car is ready. We've planted a monitoring system in Zero's social media apps, and the system shows she's in this city, very close to us."

Alexander frowned. "Keep a close watch. This time, don't lose track of her again."

Peter nodded and quickly left.

Charlotte was already sitting in her car, preparing to drive back to Gold Valley Mansion.

She rubbed her temples. For some reason, her ears still felt hot.

Alexander's controlling and dominating gaze and tone seemed to linger around her, impossible to shake off.

She instinctively sensed some kind of danger that she couldn't quite put into words.

Just then, Charlotte casually glanced back and suddenly frowned.

The car that had been following her since the last intersection was still there.

Charlotte immediately picked up her phone and sure enough, discovered a tracking system had been planted inside it.

Because it had been planted recently and was deeply hidden, she had only just noticed it.

Charlotte narrowed her eyes and immediately called Jason.

"I need you to come over."

After hanging up, she continued driving but deliberately started taking detours instead of heading straight to Gold Valley Mansion.

When Jason called back, she finally drove toward Gold Valley Mansion.

But at the next intersection, she saw Jason driving another car toward her.

As soon as Jason saw her, he sat up straight.

As he passed Charlotte, he didn't brake but headed straight for the car that had been following her.

Jason and the car tailing Charlotte came to an emergency stop, nearly colliding.

In that instant, Charlotte threw her phone through his car window.

The car behind, in its rush to avoid hitting Jason's car, didn't notice what she had done.

After Jason blocked the two people, he angrily and aggressively banged on the car door, telling them to get out.

Not knowing what was happening, they quickly got out of the car.

Jason immediately pointed at their noses and scolded them. "What do you think you're doing? Were you even paying attention while driving?"

His barrage of criticism left them somewhat confused.

They immediately explained, "This has nothing to do with us, right? You were the one..."

"I was the one what?"

Jason stepped forward and stared them down. "Are you trying to say this is all my fault?"

"No, no."

The two men, mindful of their tracking mission, didn't want to get entangled with Jason and left a business card.

"If there are any problems with your car later, just contact us."

With that, they hurriedly got back in their car and left.

Jason didn't bother with them, standing there watching them leave, a mocking coldness rising in his eyes.

"People like you want to tail my boss? Yeah, right."

After speaking, Jason drove off directly.

Soon, the black car turned around and chased after the direction Jason had left.

The more they drove, the more something felt off as they focused on the direction they'd been following.

Zero's car had clearly already passed through this road once, so why was it heading back toward the hospital?

Suddenly, a call came from an unknown number. One of them answered without thinking.

A somewhat mocking voice came through.

"Alright, stop chasing. By the time you find the signal location, I'll have already disappeared from this city. Go back and tell S that since I'm the world's number one female hacker, I can keep him under my heel forever."

"He shouldn't dream of finding me, and even if he does, in the next hacking competition, he'll still be defeated by me. I'm waiting for him to sign up for the competition."

Hearing the extremely arrogant tone on the other end, the two men hit the brakes and stopped the car, looking at each other speechlessly.

This was the first time they'd seen anyone be so cocky in front of S.

But she had the skills to back up that cockiness.

With no other choice, the two men dejectedly made a phone call.

"Tell Mr. Harris that we lost the person he wanted us to follow. The target discovered the tracking system planted in her phone, and after counter-surveillance, she shook us off."

After receiving this news, the subordinate immediately went to report to Alexander.

"This famous world's number one female hacker really does have impressive skills."

The subordinate sighed, feeling somewhat helpless. "Will we never be able to find her again?"

The interest in Alexander's eyes grew even stronger.

He couldn't wait to find out what this woman's true identity was.

"Doesn't she have a hacker team working for her? Keep investigating until they make contact with Zero."

Half an hour later.

Queen Studio.

As soon as Charlotte arrived, she saw Jason sitting on the sofa in her office with his legs crossed, playing games.

As soon as he saw Charlotte coming, he smiled, quickly closed the game on his phone, and walked over.

Charlotte glanced at him. "How did it go? Did you shake them off?"

Jason smiled happily.

"Those two idiots chased all the way to the hospital entrance and are still chasing. They have no idea that you've already discovered their clumsy tricks."

Charlotte paused and just looked at Jason coolly.

"Don't get too cocky. S was able to find my phone information and plant his tracking system in it. Next time, I might get followed again without even knowing it."
