Chapter 40
I returned back in hopes of diminishing this entire conversation with Nazari. I know this wasn’t the ideal life, but I couldn’t get rid of my baby. Regardless, he or she is part of me. Just means I have to fight harder to get out of here. I rushed to the bathroom to relieve myself again. I couldn’t stop peeing!! I climbed back in bed to where he flipped over and rested his arm on my stomach. How long could I go without him noticing? I was a wolf so pregnancies can be different for everyone. Has to do with human and wolf genetics. But normal is usually 6 months. He would do everything in his power to make sure I can’t escape if I said anything.
I started my day of writing while Hades had left to go do work. I knew if I wanted to head back out there that now would be the time. I impatiently waited twenty minutes, so I knew that he was gone. But the moment I had the chance to, I darted out of the room. I peeked around where his office is and noticed he was there and so was Nazari. I gotta play it cool. I walked over and slightly knocked on the door which caught his attention.
“Hey beautiful, what are you up to?” he asked.
I walked around to sit myself in his lap. He loved it when I did that. It made him feel powerful knowing he got the best woman or some bullshit he had said. I gave him a kiss, but I know Nazari caught me acting because when I opened my eyes to roll them while kissing them, I made eye contact with him.
“I am actually wanting to let my wolf out. She’s been restless and then find something to do, it’s boring in hell. Which is why I dropped by on my way out.”
He held me close, and it made me sick to my stomach. Nope, it wasn’t him. I was nauseous. I wanted to hide it, but it was becoming impossible. I can’t blame it on what I ate since we don’t fucking eat!!!
“You know Ryleigh, I could go for a run. Why don’t I join you? First one to the well has to take a shot.”
I was surprised that Nazari stepped in. I didn’t say anything before I sprinted out of the and upstairs. Nazari had followed me and pushed me into his room to where I vomited in the sink. I tried to hold it, but it was unbearable. He turned the water on, held my hair while I vomited the contents of my stomach.”
“Ry, this isn’t going to end well for anyone. You have to terminate this pregnancy,” he went on.
But I couldn’t hear him. There was no one way I was doing such a thing. He handed me a wet cloth which I used to white my mouth and face. I looked at him but in a different light.
“I can’t, it’s my baby. My first. He took everything from me, but he won’t take this. I am going to get out of here and when I do, you are not going to stop me.”
I slid down to his bathroom floor and threw my head back. I felt like crap, but I had to keep pushing forward.
“I always admired your strength, you know. You have never been someone who is shy with how she feels which is why I always gave you a hard time.”
I peeked my head up at him. He shocked me.
“What do you mean? What is it about me that makes you give me hell sometimes? You get mean but the only time you were remotely nice was after we had sex.”
Nazari had sat down next to me to where his arm went around my shoulder causing me to tense.
“You are intimidating with your speeches. So, when I see you cry it baffles me.”
He used his finger to wipe my eyes and to realize I was crying.
“Well get to know me and you’ll realize I never stop crying. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I cry when I am frustrated.”
We had a moment, but I couldn’t do this. My problem is how fast I fall for men with those eyes. I can’t get sucked into a love affair with him. I stood up dusting myself off before things got too intimate. Zane probably had his mate anyways and Jax well I hope he moved on. I would be hurt but happy for him.
“Anyways I am off for my run. Thank you for stalling.”
I rushed past him and ran downstairs until I was out the door in full sprint and then shifting in my charcoal wolf. I let out a howl that told Hades I was in wolf form so I may not hear him. But the best part about my wolf is how fast I was to outrun even a God. I crossed the barrier I missed last time apparently that said to keep out but screw it. I followed my old scent until I saw the dim light from the ground. This time no one was around so I walked over to see that it was a door on the ground. I know I should run as far as I could, but I was too deep to walk away. I went to reach for the door but a presence behind me startled me. I had turned around scared shitless, but my heart dropped. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. She looked just like me… Same hair, same skin tone, same eyes… She was just as dumbstruck as I was.
“Who are you?” I asked.
But I wasn’t ready for what she was about to say next. Liars only tell half of the truth. And I am seeing it now.
“I’m Persephone.”
