Valuable
The sun comes in through the window and the first rays of sunlight begin to appear. I was sitting on the floor, while supporting my back on the bed. I hear knocking on the door, but I ignore it. That was not the ideal time to receive visitors.
I leave that room in shock, not believing what Liam had done. Aaron who helped me back to the room and I asked for the food that was untouched on the table.
How could Liam have the nerve to say that he liked me and minutes later be with another woman? How contrary this is! Was he playing with me? Or did he want some kind of person to keep at home and cheat on whenever he wanted?
I didn't understand anything, in fact, I never imagined that I would ever put myself in that situation again. But only one question kept coming and going, killing me each time. Why? Why would he do this?
"Miss Helena, are you there?" I hear Aaron's voice.
"Yes". I answer a little louder, so he can hear me.
"Are you all right?" He asks, looking worried.
"Yes". Responding again, automatically, because I knew he would be able to break down the door.
"Miss Lilian is inviting you to breakfast on the beach, all together". He speaks and I sigh.
"Please, Aaron, tell her I'm indisposed today and that I'm going to stay in bed for a while". I speak, shrinking further.
"Would you like me to ask them to bring breakfast?"
"No, thank you". Responding.
Then he stops talking and seems to have left. I get up from the floor, feeling my body throbbing. I had lost track of time and had been in an uncomfortable position for most of the night.
I go to the bathroom and start filling the tub, convincing myself that a bath would help. I pick up my cell phone and see several messages from Kelly, who was asking me how I had been.
I sighed and threw the cell phone on the bed, still not having the courage to tell her what I had seen. I get into the bathtub with hot water and little foam. I close my eyes as soon as I lie down and try to relax.
But the image of Liam with another woman on his lap was messing with my head. Why was I allowing my heart to get lost again? Hadn't the first time been enough?
I soon hear a knock on the bedroom door, startling me. The sound was loud, making me get up immediately. I grab some clothes and walk hurriedly to the door, afraid that something had happened.
As soon as I open the door I see Philip, who is looking at me with a look full of guilt. I roll my eyes and close the door tightly, locking it again.
"Helena, let's talk". He speaks in a soft voice. "I swear I can explain everything to you".
I stay silent as I lean against the door, so I can hear him better.
"That was a mistake and shouldn't have happened. It was an accident". He explains and I roll my eyes.
"An accident?" I ask ironically. "I must make it very clear that that was not what you were implying, on the contrary, you were enjoying everything".
"I know, okay? I know I made a huge mistake, but I apologize". Speaks in a tone of regret.
"I'm sorry? That doesn't erase how I felt when I saw it". I say, sighing with anger.
"I was angry and left her there, but nothing like that happened". Completes and I remain silent. "Can you open the door? I want to see you Helena and ask for forgiveness on my knees if necessary".
He seemed to be telling the truth, but insecurity wouldn't let me trust him.
"You confessed that you liked me and that you wanted to get into a relationship with me, but soon after you had another woman in your arms". I speak and hold back tears, refusing to cry for this.
I hear him sigh, sounding tired.
"I was hoping that you would say yes to me and I even prepared a special dinner where you would make the official proposal. But you didn't even have the words to say it, and that made me devastated. I went to the bar, drank too much and made a big mistake". Speaks explaining in detail. "I don't want to lose you Helena, I need you. Please forgive me".
I put my hand over my mouth, trying to muffle the sound of crying. A few tears were coming down, while my head wouldn't stop working.
"I need time Liam, then I'll see what decision I can make". I speak and he remains silent.
Maybe he didn't expect me to continue to be hurt, but I kept going. Because his excuses won't be enough to make me trust him again, but his attitudes will.
"Just eat something, you can't stay hungry. I'll ask them to bring you a reinforced breakfast. Just take your time and talk to me if you need anything. Aaron will do your security".
"Thank you". I truly appreciate it.
He stood for a while in front of the door, as if he still believed I was going to open it. Soon he was gone, making me let out the air I didn't even know I was holding.
I see my cell phone ringing and Kelly's name appears on the screen. I sigh and sit down beside it, ignoring the call. I was a little disappointed and something told me it was my fault. I was tired, totally exhausted, and had no patience whatsoever for the whole situation.
I hear knocking and look in the magic doorway, seeing a hotel employee. I open the door with a simple smile and wait for him to arrange all the food in it, soon taking out what I had not eaten the day before.
"A young man asked me to deliver this to you". The waiter speaks at the end, taking a box from the cart.
I thank him and he leaves. I put the box on the table and open it quickly, curious to know who it was. There was tissue paper covering the contents, and on top was a rose and a note.
"You are the most valuable person to me, the most sincere and precious part of my life. Forgive me if I expressed the opposite of that, I will never forgive myself for causing this in you. I promise I will spend the rest of my days trying to make you forget this."
