The culprit?
"What happened?" I look at him suspiciously.
He looks at me nervously and forces a smile.
"I was just taking care of some business at work". He explains, putting his notebook aside. "Are you feeling better?"
He starts to disguise himself better, pretending he wasn't hiding anything. He never acted this way with his work, on the contrary, he asked my opinion several times.
I ignore him and walk over to the notebook, pick it up and sit down next to him, staring at him seriously. He sighs and lowers his head, without taking any action to stop me.
I open the notebook and see a video, I play it and see that it was a video of the moment of my 'almost accident'. The car passes by at high speed and soon the video is paused, zooming in on the license plate.
"Did you find out who did it?" I ask as I see the clear image of the license plate number.
Liam nods and again ducks down, running his hands over his face as if exhausted.
"Who was it?" I ask, as he remained silent and with his head down.
He picks up his cell phone and fiddles with something, but then holds it out to me. I take it, confused, and see the data on the license plate. Right below it is the name Roberto Castro and my eyes widen, putting my hand to my mouth in amazement.
"Roberto?" I ask, not wanting to believe it. "But he?"
My words die, since I knew I couldn't put my hand in the fire for anyone. I trusted and loved my ex-husband, but he turned out to be a totally different person. Roberto also appeared to be a calm and loving person.
He was always kind to me. Several times my ex-mother-in-law tried to diminish me or made bad jokes about things that affected me, but he defended me.
He never stayed silent when his mother did wrong, unlike my ex-husband who kept asking me to forgive her and did nothing to end the situation.
That is why it is so hard for me to believe that Roberto would be capable of doing something like this. He was married and has five children to whom he is totally devoted. How could he try to kill me? It was unbelievable.
"This is impossible Liam, I don't believe he is capable of something like this". I speak and he looks at me seriously.
"People can't be trusted Helena, sometimes they can hide who they are very well, you know exactly what I'm talking about". Liam says, coming closer to me and holding my hand.
I put my hand on my head, trying to understand it all.
"What are we going to do?" I ask, sighing.
"He is under arrest, he will answer for attempted murder and so will I..." He looks at me, appearing afraid of my reaction. "I had to mention to the deputy the crimes Joy committed and the search warrant has already been issued".
I nod, lowering my head.
"That's the right thing to do". She says, still looking at the ground. "Liam has to pay for all his mistakes, all of them". I speak and look at Liam.
He was watching me intently, so intensely that he seemed to be trying to read my feelings. It was one of the few times I could see the concern described in a look, and Liam always looked at me like that when something happened.
It was as if he wanted to know what was going on, so that he could give the necessary comfort.
"I want to talk to him". I speak decisively.
Liam's eyes widen, for a moment thinking that I had gone crazy.
"He tried to kill you, Helena, and you want to see him?" Liam asks, looking worried.
"I guess I just want to..." I stop to think and my thoughts seem to scream. "I want to know why".
"You want to go visit the guy who tried to kill you to ask him why?" Liam asks slowly, looking at me seriously and with an arched eyebrow. "I don't think I need to point out how illogical this is, Helena".
"Maybe it doesn't for you who have never met Roberto, but I have. He has five children and is a great father, very concerned about them. How would he put that at stake?" I ask the most obvious question.
"I don't know Helena and I don't want to know the reasons, you shouldn't worry about finding out either. I believe you have already taken too many risks and it is my job to make the next few years peaceful". Liam speaks seriously.
He stands up and closes his notebook, walking towards his office.
"That's why I forbid you to visit him". He says, turning to me and looking at me seriously.
I arch one of my eyebrows and cross my arms, not believing what I had just heard.
"How?" I ask, holding myself together to keep from laughing.
"No inmate visits Helena, for your own well-being". Speaks again, also crossing her arms. "I don't want you taking unnecessary risks".
"Okay, Mr. Parker". I speak in a tone of irony, giving an anasalized laugh. "Any more wishes?"
"I'm serious, Helena, I'm trying to protect you. Stay away from the Garcia's and away from the chair". Speak seriously and go upstairs.
I roll my eyes, that's all I needed, Liam giving orders. It wasn't as if I wanted to disobey him, but I needed to do it, and in the process I would show Liam that I don't follow orders.

I make my breakfast and start eating normally. I had woken up very early, since I was going to visit Roberto. My hands were sweating and a part of me said that this was completely crazy, but I needed answers.
I soon see Liam coming down the stairs, as usual wearing a perfectly fitting suit, which enhanced his beauty even more. That man could look good in any color, but black (the color he wore) enhanced his sensuality even more.
"Good morning". He greets me with a smile and sits down facing me.
"Good morning". I answer without returning his smile and without looking at him.
"Still angry?" He asks as he puts on his coffee.
"I don't know, could I do that Mr. Parker?" I ask with irony.
I hear him sigh as he looks at me intently.
