Chapter 95: Darian is not a man.

"That's the doctor."

"A doctor with a doctor; a perfect match." Araminta grabbed Rebecca's hand. "Rebecca, men are all the same. When something is served on a silver platter, they turn into wolves and leave nothing behind. Now that she's gone, it's your turn to perform."

Rebecca was puzzled, not understanding his words. "What do you want me to do?"

"It's not what I want, it's what you want to do." Araminta reached out and adjusted her collar, giving her chest a slight push. "There— much better."

As Araminta did that, Rebecca's face instantly turned red.

He leaned in and whispered in her ear, "If he dares to speak out about this, he'll be the one scorned by everyone. Anyway, Preston is just playing his own game, so why bother sticking to traditional virtues? If you like my brother, then make the best of it. When the time comes, you can keep or discard him if you want to. It's convenient."

Rebecca hesitated, "Is this really okay?"

"That depends on whether you want something to happen with my brother." he lightly tapped her chin and smiled flirtatiously. "He's disfigured, yet you still can't forget about him. You must be lusting after his body. Now you have the chance right in front of you. If you don't seize it, you'll regret it forever."

Araminta urged her, "While my brother's still unconscious, you can act now. Hurry, I'll guard the door for you."

Rebecca went into Darian's ward. She didn't want to be with him; she just didn't want any other woman around him.

With his face, she didn't know how to muster any interest.

"If you don't do it now, I won't help you anymore." Araminta was getting a bit impatient.

She hesitated, "I just feel like this isn't right."

"You can only make him yours at a time like this. Once he wakes up, you can't even see him." He pretended to be angry. "So, will you do it or not?"

Rebecca couldn't seem to comprehend, but Araminta was right; this was an opportunity.

As long as she imagined Darian's old face, she'd be fine.

She had seen Darian swimming before. His perfect physique was exhilarating, and she wanted to try.

Her hand rested on the door handle as she looked at Araminta.

Araminta opened the door and accompanied her inside. He then pushed her toward the bed and slightly encouraged, "Go for it."

Rebecca looked at Darian lying on the bed with closed eyes. He was truly ugly now, but his features— his eyebrows, eyes, nose, lips, and facial contours— were still familiar to her.

In fact, he used to be quite handsome.

His features were impeccable.

Even now, she could still see his former self.

Araminta lightly patted her shoulder and pointed outside, indicating he'd leave first.

Rebecca, feeling a bit shy, nodded.

Araminta turned away, smiling slyly.

He started recording on his phone, placing it by the potted plant near the door. He aimed it toward the bed before leaving.

Arche saw Nicole. He glanced at Mike and nodded in greeting.

"Nicole, Darian's awake."

"He's awake?" Nicole thought for a moment before replying, "That's even better; it saves you a lot of trouble."

Arche was anxious, "Darian won't let me take care of him, saying he has a wife. He's quite conservative. Although we're both men, there's still many things I can't do. Even as friends, I still need to be cautious. Being too close with another man still isn't good."

Mike's eating slowed down.

Hearing this, Nicole didn't want to bother with him.

"Nicole, please go check on him." Arche was almost begging her.

Nicole was annoyed. "Let me finish my meal first."

"Alright, you do that." Arche could be humble in front of Darian, but not in front of her.

Under his gaze, Nicole couldn't eat properly.

She awkwardly said to Mike, "You go ahead and eat, I'll go check on Darian."

"I'll go with you." Mike also put down his fork.

"You don't have to rush, finish your meal first." she didn't want to trouble him.

With someone like Darian, seeing her with Mike would surely cause trouble.

She wasn't worried about anything else, just that he might cause trouble for Mike.

Mike understood her refusal and didn't insist.

Watching her leave, he had lost all appetite.

In any case, she was now someone else's wife. If he acted too much, he'd only judge him. In this situation, he could only silently accompany her and not cause her any trouble.

As long as she didn't love Darian, they'd eventually divorce.

He'd wait for her.

Two years ago, he missed her once, but now he wouldn't give up on her again.

Nicole returned to the ward, and Arche slipped away at the door.

Helpless, she pushed the door open and heard some commotion inside.

She was worried a nurse might've entered and saw Darian's face, so she rushed in. However, she only saw Rebecca sitting on the ground, sobbing softly.

Darian's eyes were dark and intense, staring at Rebecca.

Seeing this, Nicole's mind raced through countless images, leaving only one; Rebecca tried to climb onto Darian's bed.

But why would she, who seemed to despise Darian, want to do that?

Moreover, what was wrong with Darian? He didn't want an active bed-warmer? Was he really struggling? Was he really struggling in that department?

"Why are you still standing there? Throw her out!" Darian shouted at Nicole, his anger almost blowing off the roof.

Nicole was innocent.

She even felt like she shouldn't be there.

"Miss Rebecca, can you get up?" Nicole approached, not pretending as she was genuinely concerned. How much courage did it take for her to climb onto Darian's bed?

What if his medication hadn't worn off, and he really slept with her?

What would happen then?

Nicole found it a bit exciting to think about, but unfortunately, Rebecca didn't succeed.

Ignoring her, Rebecca stared at Darian with red eyes. Tears streamed down her face as she looked fragile and pitiful, full of resentment. "Darian, are you even a man?"

Nicole was surprised, afraid that Darian might hear. She quickly pretended not to understand, waiting for the more explosive follow-up.

Sure enough, she heard Rebecca accusing, "I've done everything up to this point, and you're still indifferent. I suspect you've not only ruined your face but also your manhood!"

Nicole was puzzled. Did Rebecca hit the nail on the head?

Otherwise, how could she dare to say such things?

Soon, it seemed her speculation was on point.

"Nicole!" Darian's said between his teeth. "Throw her out for me!"

Burning with rage, he could blow the whole roof off.

Nicole knew she couldn't stay to watch the drama anymore, so she pulled Rebecca away and said seriously, "Miss Rebecca, you're already a married woman; why degrade yourself like this? Let's just forget what happened today."

Nicole's pretentious comfort didn't bring any solace to Rebecca. She stood up, staring at her. "A man who is neither good-looking nor useful, even if you offered him to me, I wouldn't accept."

That was a bit too much.

Nicole said sternly, "Miss Rebecca, don't forget, you've been clinging to that sort of man. Also, he's my husband, so even if he's like that, it's my problem. Even if I lose him, I won't give him to you."

Darian frowned as he listened to their conversation.
