Chapter 100: He supports Her

The female reporter's expression froze for a moment before she continued, "Even so, she has lost her grandson and is feeling upset. Even if she slapped you, it's understandable." 

"You guys are attacking me right now, and some headlines you wrote have successfully portrayed me as the most hated female doctor on the internet. Perhaps soon someone will come to the hospital entrance to throw rotten eggs and stones at me. You're at fault of this, so can I slap you first now? You will only get a few slaps, while I already lost my reputation." 

"You're just trying to argue!" 

"You think I'm trying to argue, then why did you convict me based on Lucien's one-sided words?" Nicole remained calm and composed, "Just because she is older and lost her grandson? As obstetricians, we share the same desire for a safe childbirth as the family members. To be more practical; this is my profession. If a child does not safely deliver under my care, it jeopardizes my career." 

"So, do you admit that your husband hit someone?" The female journalist interrupted her, getting to the point. 

Nicole looked directly at her, "My husband was just protecting me." 

"That so-called protection was to beat up an elderly person." 

Nicole understood their intentions. If they kept focusing on the elderly person getting hit, there'd be no direct evidence to prove she deserved it. 

These people were defending the weak on the surface, but they wouldn't check the incident's causes and circumstances. In their eyes, Lucien was already the most pitiful person, being old and having lost her beloved grandson. 

Nicole's momentary silence was captured and posted online, making her appear guilty. 

[Look, she has nothing to say. This woman is really malicious.]

[It's understandable for the old lady to hit her. A doctor being hit by an agitated family member, what's the big deal? However, a big man hitting an old lady is just despicable.]

[Why isn't the man coming forward? With such a big commotion, he probably knows about this. He's hiding in the background and dare not speak up.]

The comments section started attacking Darian. 

Director Tony hurriedly came out and shielded Nicole. 

She looked at all the reporters and said seriously, "Everyone, I'm the director of Bright Horizons Medical Center. It's quite hot today, and you've been standing here for a long time. We have prepared a meeting room, so why don't we go in, sit down, and have some drinks. Later, we will provide you all with a satisfactory explanation regarding this matter." 

People were arranged to be brought into the meeting room. He told Nicole, "You go back first, I will handle things here." 

"Director Tony, I'm involved in this. If I'm not around, they won't stop." Nicole didn't want to leave these problems to someone unrelated. 

"Your presence won't make a difference." he reassured her, "This matter is being investigated at a higher level, so we will handle the next steps. Just go home and rest for a few days." 

If it were a medical accident, the hospital would definitely engage in urgent public relations. But now, the people weren't attacking the hospital; they were personally targeting Nicole. 

If the hospital supported her, their image and reputation would also be tarnished by those unreasonably smearing them. 

Nicole wanted to persist, but Director Tony sternly told her, "This is the hospital's decision; you must comply." 

At that moment, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up at the hospital gate. 

The familiar car left Nicole increasingly uneasy and restless. 

With things at this point, Darian's temperament would only make things worse. 

As Darian stepped out of the car, even Director Tony became nervous. 

The person who had done the assault had arrived, which would only further complicate matters. 

He was dressed in all black, even his mask the same color. He walked up to Nicole, checking to ensure she was unharmed before saying to Director Tony, "I'll handle this." 

"Mr. Blaze, please take Nicole back. We will resolve today's events," Director Tony said, not wanting the situation to escalate further. Once the people involved was gone, they could discuss matters. 

Darian's gaze was sharp, "How do you plan to do that?" 

"This..." Director Tony hesitated. 

"The longer this goes on, the worse it is for the hospital and my wife's reputation," he stated bluntly, "Moreover, you won't be able to resolve it." 

Ignoring the surprise in Director Tony's eyes, he walked straight inside. 

Director Tony became anxious and quickly told Nicole, "You need to persuade him. You can't have a physical fight in front of so many reporters!" 

Nicole was also very worried. 

She hurried to catch up, grabbing Darian's hand. 

Before she could say anything, Darian pulled his hand away with cold eyes, "My woman isn't someone anyone can bully. I don't need to hide behind a woman." 

Then, he walked straight into the meeting room. 

As he entered, all eyes were on him. 

He walked to the main seat, his tall and imposing figure exuding a powerful and oppressive aura. 

"I am Dr. Creed's husband; my name is Darian Blaze. I hit Lucien Jean, and I also hit her son," his words shocked everyone. 

Those holding cameras and phones quickly started recording, as these words could generate public opinion. 

Lucien was Lanny's mother-in-law, so she happened to be present as well. 

Seeing Nicole and Darian, she began to cry and act like a helpless victim. 

Seeing Darian's fierce demeanor, Nicole's eyebrows furrowed. 

What he said was the truth, but now no one was willing to listen. His presence alone was enough to push the situation to another climax.

This situation might not be resolved in the short term. 

Darian coldly watched Lucien's performance.

After Lucien finished crying, the female reporter who questioned Nicole in the beginning launched a new round of attacks on Darian, "Mr. Blaze, Mrs. Jean is of advanced age, so how could you be so ruthless? You must have elderly people in your family. How would you feel if they got hit outside?" 

"She deserved to be hit," Darian's words once again caused an uproar among the crowd. 

The doctors outside were very helpless, looking resentfully at Nicole. 

Marrying a wealthy man was something others envied. However, if he even hit old people and showed no self-control, didn't he have violent tendencies? 

Was such a person really that easy to get along with? 

Nicole didn't know what to do, but she couldn't blame Darian. He hit someone for her, and his presence here was also because of her. 

He had become the target of public criticism. If she remained indifferent, she'd be seen as heartless. 

The unpleasant incidents between them were one thing, but now she had to clarify the situation and not avoid it. 

She walked up to Darian, who glanced at her. Then, she faced the media and Lucien without flinching. 

"Listen to him! He can say such things in front of so many people; he really has no humanity!" Lucien began to cry again. 

Darian's eyes were full of disgust, while Nicole felt like hitting Lucien when seeing her expression.
