Chapter 97 Lightening wolf
River
The chaos of battle surrounds me… snarls and screams mingling with the clashing of steel. Fear grips my chest as I realize just how outnumbered we are. I fear for my pack, for Kellan and most of all for Aloria, I need to Secure her most of all. I feel the weight of my pack on my shoulders, the crushing responsibility to protect them. But as the enemy closes in, dread creeps into my heart… will this be the end?
And then suddenly the sky rumbles with a ferocity that makes the ground tremble beneath me. A flash of lightning splits the sky, and for a moment, I’m blinded by its brilliance it is almost like it speaks to me. Rain pours down in torrents, drenching me instantly. But it’s not the cold water that sends shivers down my spine; it’s the electric energy that crackles in the air, igniting something deep within me.
I look at my hands, glowing with an otherworldly light, and a surge of power courses through my veins. It's exhilarating, terrifying, and I can hardly comprehend what’s happening. The fear that had gripped me starts to dissipate, replaced by a fierce determination. I am not just a warrior; I am a force of nature.
“Aloria!” I shout, my voice barely audible over the tumult. I scan the battlefield, searching for her… She is trying to get to me, but my instincts scream at me…danger is closing in. The evil prince, the one who tried to kill me with lightning, looms nearby, his eyes locked onto Aloria as she fights valiantly. He’s not just a warrior; he’s a predator, and she’s his prey.
“No!” The word bursts from my lips, raw and primal. I raise my arms, feeling the energy swell within me, and without thinking, I unleash it. A bolt of pure lightning arcs from my fingertips, illuminating the darkness with a blinding flash.
The prince doesn’t even have time to react. The lightning strikes him squarely in the chest, and in an instant, he evaporates into a cloud of ash and smoke, leaving only the faintest scent of burnt ozone. The soldiers around him freeze, fear washing over their faces as they witness the impossible.
“Now!” I roar, fueled by the surge of power pulsing through me. I can feel the tide of battle shift, the energy surging through my body like a raging storm. I’m alive with power, and I will not let it go to waste.
With a primal cry, I charge into the fray, the rain drenching me as I unleash another bolt of lightning, this time targeting a group of soldiers that had been rallying to retaliate. The energy crackles and snaps around me, and it’s as if the storm has become an extension of my will. The lightning strikes the ground between them, sending them sprawling, fear etched across their faces.
“Push forward!” I shout to my pack, my voice booming over the chaos. I can see Aloria fighting fiercely, her agility unrivaled as she dances through the enemy ranks, but I can’t let my focus waver. I strike again, sending another bolt of electricity arcing out to scatter a cluster of enemies, their resolve crumbling in the face of the storm I’ve unleashed.
The battlefield is a cacophony of chaos and fury, the rain pouring down around me like a curtain, but I’m no longer afraid. I can feel the energy within me growing stronger, and I draw upon it, channeling the raw power as I leap into the thick of the fight. My fists are crackling with electricity, and each swing sends sparks flying, electrifying the air around me.
I see Kellan, fighting valiantly by my side, his expression fierce but strained. He’s holding his own, but I can see the toll this battle is taking. I push forward, feeling my muscles burn with effort, but the storm within me drives me onward. I blast another group of soldiers, the lightning illuminating their terrified faces as they stumble back, unsure of how to fight against a force of nature.
But the enemy is relentless. They regroup, their numbers pressing in on us once more, and I know we can’t let them overwhelm us. I leap into the air, hanging for a heartbeat as I gather the energy within me, and then I release it, a blinding wave of lightning cascading down upon the nearest foes. The air crackles with intensity as the lightning strikes, illuminating the battlefield in a brilliant flash.
“Aloria!” I call out again, searching for her in the chaos. I see her, fierce and determined, fighting with an intensity that rivals my own. But my heart races as I notice an enemy soldier sneaking up behind her, a dagger glinting in his hand.
“Aloria, behind you!” I shout, desperation clawing at my throat. She doesn’t hear me over the din of battle, and in that moment, instinct kicks in once more. I gather the energy, feeling it surge through me, and without hesitation, I unleash another bolt of lightning, striking the soldier just as he lunges for her.
He is thrown back, his body collapsing to the ground, and I can see the shock on Aloria’s face as she turns to me, her eyes wide. But then she smiles, and her eyes shines with pride.
“River!” she shouts, her voice cutting through the chaos like a beacon.
I feel a rush of adrenaline as I shout back to her. “We’re turning this battle, together! Let’s finish this!”
We move as one, a storm unleashed upon the enemy. The lightning crackles around us, illuminating the battlefield with each strike, and I can feel the tide turning in our favor. We are a force of nature, and together, we will reclaim what is ours. The storm has just begun, and I will see this battle through to the end.
